One Finger Death Punch 2 is bringing back two-button brawling next year
05 Mar, 2018
Silver Dollar Games has announced that their next game is the sequel to their original hit, One Finger Death Punch. Is your mouse up to the task?
If One Finger Death Punch escaped your attention when it originally released in 2014, I can’t really blame you. It wasn’t until a friend showed me the game that I begrudgingly tried it. Stick figures and brawling? Pfwah! But who knew that a game controlled by just two buttons would go on to become one of my favourite games of year?
One Finger Death Punch 2 is the sequel to that classic formula of bashing stick figures left and right (literally). It adds a few new things into the mix, but keeps things mostly the same, which is fair because classic kung fu action can never change.
New features listed on the official website include new level types with names such as “Deadly Target, Horror Show, Blade Storm, Ghost” and “Drunken Master”. One feature that has me starry-eyed in wonder is that the game will let you enable all 26 skills at the same time in the game, if you wish. The original game kept you restricted to 5, for reference. There’s also going to be a couch co-operative mode, which the developers stress is very limited.
Of course, everything else is back, including a really long singleplayer campaign (with bite-sized levels), a survival mode, stickmen of many flavours, and the same old mad speed that was a hallmark of the original game.
The game has been confirmed to be a ‘premium’ experience, so don’t worry about it going the free-to-play route. No price or release date has been announced, but we do know that the game isn’t coming out this year. Spring 2019 it is, then.
There’s nothing out there that matches the simplistic insanity of OFDP, but you might like Treadnauts, or perhaps Aegis Defenders.
