Letters is an adventure about finding the right words; now on Kickstarter
15 Nov, 2019
Described as a ‘written adventure’, Letters is about a Swiss girl as she makes choices and comes of age, all while finding the right words.
Finding the right words can be enough of a challenge that someone should make a video game about it. Thankfully, it’s happening over at Swiss studio 5am Games, who are working on a creative adventure game called Letters.
In the game, you play as a young girl from Switzerland, named Sarah. Using adventure and puzzle mechanics, you play around with words that affect her life and relationships. The way you play the game and the choices you make will determine the kind of person Sarah becomes. There’s also an element of nostalgia involved, as the game will span the 90s and 00s as it tracks Sarah’s coming-of-age.

The game’s development studio 5am Games is based in Switzerland itself, and it’s composed of developers Aleksandra Iakusheva, Martina Hotz, and Selina Capol. The trio met at the Zurich University of the Arts and have been working on the game since 2017.
Letters is currently seeking funds on Kickstarter, and the campaign requires a total of 20,000 Swiss franc to be successful. That’s about $20,221, of which the campaign has assembled more than $15,500 so far, thanks to over 300 backers. There’s still 7 days left for the campaign to end, so there’s a chance Letters might yet pull through.
Letters is expected to launch sometime in early 2021 for PC and Mac. Due to the nature of the game, it will be available only in English. You can check out the game’s demo right now, though—it’s up on itch.io and Steam.
