Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit Review

Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is a wholesome game with the theme of death. Instead of things being bleak, you end up befriending the spirits and learn more about their past. It’s a great game that you can play in small bursts across several days.

Lost In Camp

You came to visit the camp on the bus, but you then find yourself all alone with your bus broken and your fellow scouts missing. The situation isn’t ideal, yet the game doesn’t portray it in a negative and dire way. Instead, you get an opportunity to live with the spirits and get to know more about them.

That said, you are a human character and returning to your original place will be a major part of the game’s goal. You will also work on repairing your bus by gathering mechanical parts and completing requests from the spirits.

Exploring The Camp

You start in a small area with minimal resources, but you soon meet a fire spirit. You will gather spirit logs for it, and more areas will be unlocked with progression.

You will meet new spirits and also alive characters in these new locations. Spirit logs are obtained after you complete several requests by these NPCs and spirits.

You can only complete a few quests in a day, as the game progresses in real time. That means if something is locked, you will need to check back another day. So, you can only collect a small number of spirit logs every day.

This isn’t a problem during the early game because you only require a small amount first, so you can progress significantly within a day or two of playing, but progression slows significantly during the late game, where the required spirit logs to unlock new areas and quests keep increasing.

If you want a game that you can play in short bursts daily without stressing you out, then you will like Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit. However, if you wish things weren’t locked behind real-time progression and you wanted to play more in a day, you will probably feel frustrated.

Activities In Camp

The gameplay loop focuses a lot on collection. You will be collecting wild plants and flowers. Using the shovel, you will also find hidden products. Later, you will unlock the bone maps to find hidden treasure. You will also get some birds, which will also leave you with byproducts. The game also includes cooking and crafting to convert your resources into items.

To further progress the storyline, you will be hunting down quest items located all around the land. Later, you will unlock fishing and mining. You can track all your collections at Tallow’s cabinet, which will also reward you for filling up the pages.

The game also focuses on the more aesthetic features. You can decorate the campgrounds and light them up. You can also collect clothes and change your appearance for fashion.
