Syberia 3 release date set for April, new trailer sets up the game’s story

Microids has announced that Syberia 3’s release date on PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One will firmly fall in April, and has shown off a snowy new trailer to boot.

Syberia 3 is fast shovelling snow to get ready for release, and today, developer Microids has announced that the game will release on the 20th of April in Europe, and the 25th of April in North America. This release date appears to only be for the PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One versions. There is currently no release date for the iOS and Android versions of the game, nor the Switch version of the game, which we spotted last month.

To go with the release announcement, Microids has also released a new trailer for the game. It sets up the game’s story, and features a sequence of shots that I couldn’t quite make sense of, but found delightful nonetheless (Syberia 1 and 2 are on my backlog, I swear!). Have a gander yourself:

Syberia 3 continues the story from the previous game in the series, putting you in the shoes of Kate Walker, who has finally abandoned the island and is now getting in with the Youkole tribe. Then, of course, the bad guys show up. Kate has to beat them, but she’ll do so in traditional adventure game style—by using her wits.

There is a certain charm to Syberia 3’s old-timey-looking graphics. It clearly doesn’t have the budget or man hours of a triple-A game (hey, it’s an indie!), but the visuals work despite this, supported by the creative imagination of writer and designer Benoît Sokal. Furthermore, Syberia 3 is being scored by Inon Zur, whose compositions have not just graced, but even elevated games like Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout: New Vegas and Crysis.

Syberia 3 will have both physical and digital versions for the platforms confirmed with a release date so far. If you’re a Steam sort of person, you’ll find the game here.
