Desktop Explorer Walkthrough Hub

Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough hub for Desktop Explorer.

Desktop Explorer is a point-and-click adventure that takes place in a Windows 2000-esque computer that you’ve inherited from your uncle. After turning it on and messing around a bit, you get pulled into a mysterious missing person’s case through a strange little app called Desktop Explorer.

The game is filled with mind-bending puzzles, and you need to use every bit of your wits to solve them. If you get stuck, our walkthrough hub will offer a helping hand, guiding you through the mystery.

Part 1: Halibut Puzzles 1 to 10

As you come across your uncle’s old computer, you find an odd little app inside called Desktop Explorer. You turn it on, and things quickly spiral into weirdness. As you solve one puzzle after another, you uncover more parts of your Uncle’s Journal and piece together the story of his past.

Part 2: Halibut The Temple

After completing the first set of puzzles in the Desktop Explorer app, the computer crashes. After rebooting, you find yourself back on the login screen. But when you enter back into the Halibut user profile, things seem different, and a new folder appears in the Desktop Explorer.

Part 3: NextRooms Mall F1 Court

After solving all the puzzles in Halibut’s user profile and a bit of keen detective work, we manage to gain access to m4x1mus’s user profile. We’ll learn more about Maxine’s story and also get to play around in a virtual space called NextRooms. But first we have to get Desktop Explorer up and running again.

Part 4: NextRooms Mall F2 Court

After completing the puzzles in each of the stores on the first floor of the Mall in NextRooms, you’ve managed to restore power to the elevator. Entering the elevator takes you to the second floor, where you have to tackle a few more puzzles before a major revelation.

Part 5: Admin User Profile

After clearing all the puzzles in Maxine’s profile and exploring all that NextRooms had to offer, the password in Admin User Profile is removed. It’s time to see what’s hiding behind the terminals.

Part 6: The Finale

We’ve made our way through the Admin User Profile and somehow are back at Maxine’s profile. It seems the walls between the profiles are disappearing as Guppy rushes to the end, figuring out a way to get rid of Desktop Explorer once and for all.
