I Hate This Place Complete Walkthrough Hub

I Hate This Place blends tense exploration, brutal combat, and an 80s retro-comicbook aesthetic to give you a top-down survival-horror experience unlike anything else. Developed by Rock Square Thunder, the game puts you in the shoes of Elena as she explores the dark wilderness surrounding the haunted Rutherford Ranch to uncover the secrets and mysteries tied to the land.

Survival here is more than just fighting back. You’ll have to manage your resources carefully and use the constantly shifting day/night cycle to your advantage. This page contains a walkthrough for the entire game, along with useful tips for when you’re lost and don’t know what to do next.

Part 1: Bunker

The game starts with Lou performing a ritual to summon The Horned One. After the cutscene, Lou disappears, and Elena finds herself alone in the dark forest.

Part 2: Rutherford Ranch & Eddie’s Quest

You’ve arrived at the Rutherford Ranch and can finally get some rest. In this part, we’ll clean up the Ranch to set it up as our base of operations and solve our very first ghost mystery.

Part 3: Swamp, Church & Sawmill Worker Quest

Uncle Spencer mentioned a Church in the middle of the Swamp. Maybe the priest can help us learn more about those bunkers so we can figure out the mystery of Lou’s disappearance.

Part 4: Flooded Bunker

After rescuing the Lost Cultist, Terry, Father Matthew mentions a bunker near the Church Crypt. He also gives us a Rope to access the new zone.

Part 5: Fields, Terry’s Wife & Bonfire Quest

Exploring the Flooded Bunker raised more questions than it answered regarding the experiments with The Horned Man’s DNA. But Father Matthew tells us that there’s another bunker to the north of the farm.

Part 6: Northern Bunker & Reaching the Coal Mine

We’ve explored the Fields north of the farm and found a giant hole in the ground. As we drop in through the hole, we find ourselves in yet another bunker for experiments using The Horned Man’s DNA.

Part 7: Coal Mine & Cultists Town

After clearing the wreckage, the path to the Coal Mine lies open. We’ll also make our way to the Cultists Town, where The Horned Man Cult has set up its base of operations.

Part 8: Shedding Rite, Project AEON & The Finale

With the Shedding Rite almost underway, we must act fast if we want to find Lou and learn the truth about what happened to Ellen’s Mother.
