Morsels is a roguelike action game where you play the role of a mouse in a pixelated world. The mouse can collect different Morsels and transform itself to fight against the enemies inside this world of sewers and tainted creatures. The game keeps you on your toes at all times and is extremely action-packed and fast-paced. For more information on the game, don’t forget to check out their official Steam page.
Developed by Furcula and published by Annapurna Interactive, Morsels features an engaging journey through the sewers as you try to overcome the Baron Cats and make your way to the Cosmic Cat. Each run is filled with different choices, which will drastically impact your playstyle.
As each run is filled with random elements, it’s difficult to describe every situation that you may encounter on your run, but this walkthrough will go over the basics and the general game plan to get you through your runs.

Introduction And Mechanics
In this world, you’re a mouse. As the game begins, you’ll start out in the sewers, in front of a large dung-like creature. You can give it hugs. You can also access the mouse’s home from here, which lets you check your stats, the Morsels you’ve yet to discover, and all the objectives and achievements in the game. Furthermore, you’ll also find a dumbbell here, which can be used to adjust the difficulty of the game.
After checking everything out, you’re ready to move on. As soon as you move out of the area, you’ll find a card. The mouse itself is unable to attack anything, so you’ll have to transform into morsels to fight against anything. Each of these Morsels has unique abilities, and their way of attacking is also different.

Interact with the card and pick a morsel of your choice. You’ll also get to pick one random buff, which occasionally spawns next to morsel cards. Go to the far right, and you’ll be able to interact with the ladder that takes you to the Big City, the first part of the game.
Every time you die, you can restart your run right away from the Big City. You’ll get a random morsel by your side. You can also choose to return to the Sewer and start over from the base, but it’s quicker to just start over from the Big City instead.
Furthermore, every time you die, you accumulate experience, which makes you further stronger and increases the variety of bonuses that you can encounter on your run. So even if you die repeatedly, you’re still getting slightly stronger after each run.

Combat
Morsels’ combat is fast-paced. Everything is coming at you for your life, and due to limited resources for healing, you have to be constantly on the move. Each Morsel comes with its own unique fighting style, and you can have three of them at a time.
You can freely switch between each Morsel, and each of them has a separate health bar. It won’t be game over until your last Morsel loses all of its health.
Furthermore, you can also use bonuses and buffs to further strengthen yourself and your Morsels. Each Morsel also has a unique power attack, which takes time to charge again after use. But you can speed up the recharge by dealing damage to the enemies.

The amount of damage you do to your enemies also depends on each Morsel. Some Morsels can deal explosive damage, while others only deal a fraction of damage, but are useful in other ways.
In Normal difficulty, you have three hearts. You can find these hearts in the dungeons, but they’re rare. You can also heal yourself in some events, but those are completely random. Boss arenas usually have a few hearts in them. In Easy difficulty, you start with four hearts of HP, which makes things a lot easier.

Progression
As the game begins, you’ll have to explore a random dungeon-like place in each area. Every time, you’ll have to find the ladder in the area to proceed to the next level. Each dungeon level is separated by one or more event levels, which are also completely random.
Once you’ve cleared the dungeons and defeated the Baron in an area, you’ll be able to move on to the next one. There are a total of 6 parts, including the Moon. After clearing four regions, you’ll go to the Heaven area, and from there, you’ll have to go to the moon.
Each region has a Baron cat as the final boss of the area, and you’ll have to defeat it to progress. The events that you get in between the dungeon areas can give you buffs or make you weaker, but it’s all random. Some events require you to have a special currency to skip the negative choices in the events.

Currencies And Experience
There are two types of drops that you can get from enemies: blue experience and yellow cheese. Blue experience allows you to level up your Morsels, which can only level up once to power up. If the experience bar fills for the second time, you’ll have to retire the Morsel and pick another one. This keeps things fresh and makes you keep cycling through all the Morsels that you have available in the game.
For yellow cheese, you can buy buffs and bonuses with it. Near every ladder in every dungeon area, you’ll find two buffs to choose from. However, you’ll have to spend the yellow cheese to buy one of these bonuses. Some events also give you yellow cheese, while other events require you to give some cheese to progress.

You’ll also need some cheese to replace the Morsels you own, because at a time, you can only carry three Morsel transformations with you. And, if you interact with a card even when you have three Morsels active, you’ll have to switch one out to make space for the new one, and doing so costs some yellow cheese.
There’s another special currency in the game. This purple star-like currency can be used to avoid certain difficult situations in events or in the dungeons. You can get this currency by playing through mini-games in the events or by saving the old-grandma-like creature in the dungeons. Just pick the grandma up and deliver her to the ladder, and you’ll get the bonus currency as a reward.

Exploration
Each dungeon area is slightly different, with all the enemies crawling around. However, there is also a lot of attention to detail here in these areas. You can destroy most of the stuff that doesn’t fit, such as opened cans, fish bones, and newspapers. You can attack them, and you might get cheese, experience, or even hearts out of it.
Furthermore, there are tunnels in each area. You can interact with these tunnels to enter a mini-game or pop out of some other place in the dungeon. You may also find Morsels in these dungeons. An easy way to get Morsels is to look for a card near the ladder in each dungeon area. You’ll usually find it alongside the place where you can pick buffs.
Other than that, you can also find a domed dish in the middle of these dungeons. Interacting with the dome will summon an evil and strong Morsel. You’ll have to defeat it quickly, and then you’ll get a card choice after beating it.

Be careful of taking too much time in exploration, because after a certain amount of time, a giant snake will start to stretch out from the dungeon. If this snake touches your Morsel, you’ll immediately die. You can easily notice if the snake has been summoned by noticing the change in the music. It will turn ominous, and you should hurry up to find the ladder and escape if that happens.
If you’re having trouble finding the ladder, you should look for the arrows on the ground. These arrows point towards the correct path leading to the ladder.

Big City
Big City is the first area that you’ll have to go through. This region has three dungeon sections and four event points. You have to watch out for the rabid enemies here that keep chasing you and can’t be interrupted. There are also camera-like creatures that throw cards at you. In order to destroy these creatures, you’ll have to position yourself in such a way that the card bounces off the walls and hits them back, or you can use a Morsel that has explosive abilities.
The tunnels here may have interesting secrets and may teleport you near the ladder. However, they are blocked by creatures at times, and you’ll have to kill these creatures to get to the tunnel. Furthermore, you’ll also find bottles of a pink chemical inside these regions. If you hit it with an attack, it will turn into a monster, which is quite hard to kill, but if you’re successful, you might get a buff or the special currency as a reward.

Keep in mind that you do not have to kill every living thing here. Just find the ladder to progress ahead. Surviving for the next round should be your top priority. You may also find locked pathways here. You can unlock these pathways with keys, which are also found in the dungeon.
If you can make it to the last area of this region, you’ll encounter Baron Ginger. Baron Ginger spawns claws beneath your feet, so you’ll have to keep moving to not get hit by those. You’ll also have to watch where you go because you don’t want to accidentally run into the claws.
Baron Ginger spawns eyes that orbit around it, but other than that, the boss itself doesn’t move, so it’s fairly an easy target for most Morsels.

Trash Island
Trash Island is the second part of the game. This place is very similar to Big City, with three dungeons and four event points. There are a lot of jellyfish here, and they clump together to make it difficult for you to get rid of them.
Other than that, you’ll also encounter similar enemies to the Big City, but the overall objective here remains the same. Find an arrow on the ground and get to the ladder in the area to advance to the next stage.

You’ll also find many aquatic creatures here as your enemies. You may encounter these creatures that are literally walking eyeballs, but you have to aim at their long behinds to damage them.
At the end of the area, you’ll have to fight against Baroness Cali. This boss floats in the air, dropping down near you and spawning hundreds of spores from its mouth. These spores make it difficult to target the boss and will block your attacks, as well as damage you if you come in contact with them. However, you can easily defeat it if you have any long-range Morsels.

Marshes
This area is quite difficult to navigate as it’s just a large field of reeds with no directions whatsoever. You have to aimlessly wander around this area until you find the ladder.
However, you can farm a lot of experience in this area by interacting with the white flowers. These white flowers drop experience, and you can use that to level up certain Morsels. There are also several threats hiding inside the grass, so make sure you’re very fast so you can get away from them.
There aren’t any Barons or events here, just a few sections of reeds. After you find the ladder a few times, you’ll be able to get to the Backwoods.

Backwoods
Backwoods is a similar area to Big City and Trash Island. This area represents a dark fungi forest, and you’ll find many enemies that you’d feel as if they belong here. There are also versions of enemies from the Big City and Trash Island that have been consumed by the fungi in this area, and you’ll have to fight against them as you progress ahead.
Watch out for the sticky goo in this area. It can trap you, making you unable to move, and it will explode after a while. Rapidly move in all directions and dash to escape. But, your first priority in this area should be not to get stuck in the goo bubbles.

This area’s final boss is Baron Tab. It’s a gigantic spider that spawns pink bubbles that can harm you and make you stuck. Ranged Morsels can deal with this boss much more easily.
After you’ve brought down half of Tab’s HP, it will spread a large web in the entire arena, but it also stays in one place, so you can attack it easily.

Heavens
Heaven is a difficult area to progress through. You’ll need Morsels that can fly. You’re literally walking on clouds here and there are a lot of enemies that can push you off the edge. These clouds are at a distance from each other, so if you want to switch platforms, you’ll have to dash. If you mess it up, you’ll fall and lose a hit point.
However, flying Morsels have an absolute advantage in this area, as you can just move around anywhere you want. It also makes it easy to look for the ladder.

You might encounter this black one-eyed creature here that will drop a ladder on defeat. Interacting with the dropped ladder will immediately take you to the moon. Otherwise, you’ll have to progress as normal and fight against the boss at the end.
If you don’t take the ladder, you’ll have to fight against the Crescent Moon boss and keep progressing through the heavens until you reach Baron Pink at the end of the section. Defeating Baron Pink will complete the run.

The Moon
The Moon is a difficult area to traverse as it has a million asteroids just floating around. You can attack them to destroy them, but the whole area gives off a bullet-hell vibe.

There are no ladders here. But you’ll find plenty of sewers here to get into, and they will teleport you to some other place on the section.
There’s a UFO-like mechanical enemy in one of the larger platforms in the area. You have to fight against it and defeat it to drop the ladder. Once you enter the platform, the escape path will be blocked, and asteroids will be circling around the boundary of the platform.

You have to stay away from the edges while attacking the enemy. Be careful, because the UFO enemy is super fast. Don’t get too close to it, as it has fan wings spinning around. If you have a hard time fighting against the UFO or the final boss, you should try using Pebsel, as it works extremely well against boss enemies.

After you take the ladder, you’ll encounter Baron Pink. This octopus-like cat creates static circles in the arena, and you should try to avoid getting trapped in them. The boss also shoots out small mushroom minions all over the area. At half health, the boss will create static rings all around it, with only a little opening here that you can squeeze in to damage the boss.
As you defeat Baron Pink, you’ll complete the run, coming out victorious. You’ll gain a ton of experience, and if you’ve completed the run on Normal difficulty, you’ll unlock the Hardcore mode for even more ruthless action.
