Unbeatable blends exploration, story-driven moments, and rhythm-based gameplay into a single experience. Understanding when you’re exploring freely and when the game shifts into rhythm mode is key to mastering it.

Core Gameplay Flow
While playing, you’ll naturally transition between story scenes, location scenes, and rhythm sequences. These shifts happen seamlessly as you explore the world and progress through the narrative.
Some rhythm sequences are tied directly to the story, while others can be replayed at any time through Arcade Mode, letting you practice or chase higher scores without pressure.
Exploration and Interaction
When moving around the world, you’ll control Beat freely and interact with characters and objects.
- Movement:
- Use WASD to move
- Press Spacebar to jump
- Interacting with the world:
- When a speech or interaction bubble appears, press F to interact
- This can mean talking to a character, examining an object, or moving to a new location
- Dialogue choices:
- During conversations, press Q / E to cycle through dialogue options
- Press F to confirm your choice
These dialogue options allow you to shape how Beat responds in the moment, but they do not alter the main storyline.
Quests, Collectibles, and the Journal
Outside of rhythm gameplay, you’ll complete various story tasks and optional activities.
- Press J at any time to open your Journal
- The Journal tracks:
- Collected items
- Current objectives
- Songs unlocked from rhythm sequences
Collectibles are earned in multiple ways:
- Taking pictures
- Playing minigames
- Interacting with specific objects while exploring
These collectibles help flesh out the world and provide additional rewards, but they don’t gate story progression.
Rhythm Sequences Overview
Rhythm gameplay is the heart of UNBEATABLE. You’ll encounter several types of rhythm sequences:
- Battle Rhythm Sequences
- Location-based Rhythm Sequences
- Story Rhythm Sequences
You may trigger a rhythm battle by running into enemies in certain locations, while others occur automatically as part of the story.
Battle Rhythm Sequences (HP & Failure)
Some rhythm sequences include an HP bar at the top of the screen.
- You lose HP every time you miss a note
- Missing too many notes results in GAME OVER
- A GAME OVER does not affect the story — you can retry without consequences
Not all rhythm sequences are dangerous. Many exploration-based and collectible-focused sequences have no failure condition and exist to help you learn the beat or earn rewards.
Rhythm Controls and Notes
During rhythm sequences, timing is everything.
- D key – Hit top (high) notes
- F key – Hit bottom (low) notes
- Notes must be pressed when they reach the circles on their respective lines
- Some moments require pressing both D and F at the same time
Special Note Types
UNBEATABLE introduces several variations to standard notes:
- Held Notes
- Identified by purple lines after a note
- Hold the key down until the line fully ends
- Big Notes
- Larger notes that require you to rapidly tap (spam) the button while the note remains attached to your line
- Hazard Objects
- These should not be hit
- Instead, press the opposite button to dodge them successfully
Missing or mishandling these elements—especially during HP-based battles—can quickly drain your health.
This walkthrough assumes keyboard & mouse controls. You can view or rebind controls at any time through the Options menu, allowing you to customize inputs to your comfort.
