Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough covering the Needle’s Eye chapter of 007 First Light.
After the incident in Iceland, Bond is summoned to meet MI6 directly at their headquarters. With no idea what to expect, he decides to head there and find out for himself. It turns out MI6 wants to recruit Bond into the agency, but it will not be an easy path.
He will need to undergo training and catch up with the other recruits. M sends him to Malta, the MI6 training facility, where he is set to meet the rest of the trainees.

Head To Malta

After you reach the airport in Malta, you will find Greenway waiting for you with your ride. Enter the car and drive with Greenway to your destination. He does not seem very fond of Bond, but he has orders to follow.
After you reach your destination, follow Greenway as he goes to introduce you to the other recruits. Greenway wants to test Bond’s skills, so he asks Monroe, one of the better recruits there, to test him out.

You will need to fight Monroe in the circle, but as expected, you will be humbled by Monroe, and that just proves that, like everyone else, you need to go through basic training as well.
He assigns Cressida and Monroe to bring you up to speed. They show you where you will be staying and you put your stuff down.
Basic Training

Once you settle in, Monroe will guide you through a series of basic training exercises designed to familiarize you with the game’s core mechanics.
Your first stop is with Cressida, who will teach you how to drive. Hop into the car and complete a lap around the island to get comfortable with the driving controls and handling.

After that, you will move on to platforming training, where your objective is simply to reach the red flag at the top. It is a straightforward section that helps you get used to movement and climbing mechanics.

Next comes target practice, giving you your first feel for the shooting mechanics. Your task here is simple, shoot the targets standing in front of you and learn the basics of handling a gun.

The last sequence will show you how to deal with people if you get confronted. You will learn how to fake surrender and then perform a takedown.

This causes you and Monroe to go through a long fight to prove yourselves. It gets messy, and after a long fight, Greenway finds you, but at least Monroe admits that Bond is doing well with his training.
Speak With M

Bond successfully passes the basic training, which is only the first step of your training here.
Despite your performance review describing you as reckless and immature, M sees something in you and believes that you have the skill in you, you just need to hone it.
She then asks you to follow her. Go with her to the lift as she shares more details about their line of work. When you reach your destination, it seems that you have arrived at a secret floor.

M will show you THEIA, their artificial intelligence that helps them with their missions and makes statistical deductions to succeed in them.
The reason why she brought you here is that THEIA was the one guiding you in Iceland, and she was the one who gave you less than a one percent chance to succeed in saving the captives, but Bond of course did it anyway.
This is what M sees in you: potential, and that is why she is giving you this chance. Moneypenny will join you shortly and she will introduce you to more people that you will be working with.
Meet And Greet

Follow Moneypenny to the lift and go up to the Q Lab. Here you will need to speak to two people, Q and Selina Tan. The lab is huge and there are multiple things that you can check out, so take your time to explore.
Meet Q

Once you are ready for your meet and greet, Q can be found further ahead inside the lab, so go and meet him. He will run some tests on you and ask you to pick a watch.
Bond mentions that he already has one, but Q simply takes it out of his hand and throws it into the trash. Obviously this is not a regular watch, and you will have a selection of different colors to pick from.

It does not matter which one you pick because they are all identical in terms of functionality, it is just up to your personal preference.
The watch is a tool that you can use to activate Q-Lens and do some hacking around. You can test it out with the two lamps on the desk in front of you.

The hacking will require battery power and you will need to replenish it when you run out. Thankfully, these are highlighted with a blue battery marker that you can pick up to recharge.
Meet Selina Tan

Your next meeting is with Selina Tan, and she is standing next to the TacSim banner. This is not important right now, as she will unlock TacSim, which is additional content for you to go through, extra missions if you will.
After you are done with the lab, head back to the elevator and you will find Moneypenny waiting for you. Speak to her so she can brief you on the advanced training.

She will hand you the keys for the new safehouse for the next six months, which you will be sharing with Cressida and Monroe during the advanced training period.
Make Yourself At Home

After you reach the house, it will be a mess as Cressida and Monroe are still unpacking and fixing things up. Feel free to explore around if you need to.
When you are ready, your room will be in the back at the end of the hall to your left, but you need the keys to your room.

In front of you will be Cressida’s room, go and speak to her and you will be able to pick up the keys from the desk. Enter your room and put your luggage there, then head to the kitchen area.
You will find Cressida and Monroe arguing about which painting to hang, and since Bond is now in the middle, he is in charge of deciding which one to pick.

You can pick any of them; it does not matter. We went with the one Cressida described as “the grotesque pastiche of hyper-masculine tropes.”
You can take more time exploring your new house and everything around it, but whenever you are ready to continue your training, speak to Cressida to go to your mission.
Enter The Training Ground

The advanced training requires you to use all the skills that you have learned so far in order to reach the red flag on top of the tower, but this time there are guards roaming around.
This is the perfect training ground to prepare you for the missions to come. There are multiple routes that you can take and you can either sneak around or fight your way through, the choice is yours.
Get To The Flag

This is going to be based on how we completed it. We took the right path and tried to stay as stealthy as possible. You need to constantly use your Q-Lens to keep track of the guards’ positions.
Start by taking the ladder to the upper floor and then jump to the other side. Stay crouched and wait for the two guards to continue their conversation. Use the watch to hack the target in order to distract one of them.

Take down the nearby target and sneak past the farther one and keep moving along. In the next section, there are two more guards guarding the way.

Hack the socket by the floor and then hack the target to lure the guard and get him stunned by the socket. There is no need to take down the other guard, you can simply sneak past him.

Now that you are close to the tower, sneak past the enemies here using the tall grass and climb up the set of stairs here. Take down the enemy here, climb up the ladder, and get the flag. This will complete today’s training.
Polygraph Test

The next scene shows Greenway using a lie detector on James Bond. You will be given a few choices to either lie or tell the truth.
The choices do not really matter, but if you lie you will be detected by the lie detector. It will not change the story, just some dialogue between you and Greenway.

After some scenes showing more training sequences, you will be the one doing the interrogation, this time to Cressida. You will have a few choices to make, but none of them will have an effect.
The most interesting one is “Ask about her feelings for Monroe,” which is quite fun to see her reaction to.
Gadget Testing

Finally, the last part is understanding the gadgets that you will be working with during your missions. You and the rest of the team will be at the Q Lab, and Bond will take the honor of testing these gadgets out.
The first gadget is the Dart Phone. Pick it up from the workbench and load up on chemicals. Stand on the blue circle, activate Q-Lens, and choose the phone to use it. This causes the target to become sick and change position.

The second test will teach you how to use your Focus in order to slow down time and hit the target on the fan in front of you. This requires you to have your Instinct meter full, which you can replenish through takedowns.

The end of your training is close and your last test is tomorrow. Greenway informs you about capturing the flag at daybreak.
However, it seems that our trio has a different idea. They decide to steal the flag and take the day off tomorrow. First rule of spycraft: always do the unexpected. That is not a bad idea at all if you ask me, smart actually.
Steal The Flag

At the entrance of the barracks you will find two people guarding the way. Cressida goes ahead and distracts them so you and Monroe can sneak inside. Inside, you will find two more guards playing chess.

Use Lure to get the attention of one of them, then use a takedown on him. Monroe will take care of the second one. The two of you will split up to get some intel on the location of the flag.
Just when Bond is going further, he comes across a guard right in front of him. This is exactly the time to use the Bluff mechanic, which tricks people into letting you pass.

Bond uses Greenway’s birthday as an excuse and somehow it works, so now you are in. However, you will not be able to bluff everyone so easily throughout the game, so keep that in mind.
Find The Flag

The flag that you are looking for is found on the top floor of the building across the compound. Just like always, there are multiple routes and ways to reach that location, but we will guide you through the route we used.

Drop down from the left side, crouch, and move along the tall grass. Keep sneaking your way to the left and toward the back of the building. Here you will find a blue pipe that you can climb.

This will lead you to an open window that you can vault through and get immediate access to the top floor. Inside there are two guards, but you can easily sneak past them.

Exit this building and take the stairs in front of you to reach the rooftop. Here you will find three guards. If you sneak past them there is a chance that you might not get caught, though it might be a bit dependent on luck.
Inside the room you will find the flag that you are looking for for tomorrow’s assignment. Monroe will catch up to you and now you need to get out of here.

Monroe does something dumb, takes a wrench and uses it as a zipline tool to escape, but that does not work in his favor and he falls into some guards.
This exposes your sneaking attempt and now you need to find another way around.
Escape

Cressida asks you to meet her at the backside docks. Take the stairs up and use the ziplines to quickly get there. Cressida will be waiting with a boat that you can use to pick up Monroe.

Ride it to the other side where Monroe is stuck, save him, and then get out of there. With the flag in hand, you can finally take that day off that you have been longing for.
Impress Greenway

At the next day’s test, Greenway assembles the crew and starts to explain the course. Bond steps forward and announces that they already got the flag and shows it to him.
This leaves Greenway speechless, and honestly, he should be impressed. Then, in complete silence, he simply leaves and lets the crew enjoy their well-deserved day off.
