Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile‘s Chapter 4 lets you play as Jane Royce, who has just reached New York in search of her friend Emmy’s murderer, the Spider. For more information on Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile, check out their official Steam page.
Chapter 4 takes place in The Bronx, a part of New York that’s been home to lawlessness and shady business. You’ll have to navigate carefully as the residents here aren’t as welcoming as they might look. Find out more in this detailed walkthrough.

Introduction
After the investigation in Majorca, Jane had found certain documents that hinted that the Spider, Emmy’s murderer, was headed to a bar called The Backstreet Spirit in New York. Jane immediately made her way to the designated location to find the murderer.

Jane is greeted by Will, the owner of the Backstreet Spirit bar. She tries to interrogate him about finding any work in the neighborhood. Will says that if he hears anything, he’ll let her know.

After the interrogations are complete, an Asian man will arrive at the bar. This man will ask Jane to leave because he has something important to discuss with Will.

Will agrees with this new individual and asks Jane to leave, even going so far as to say that the drink was on the house.

Eavesdropping In The Backstreet Spirit
Now, Jane is not going to give up so easily. You’ll have to find a way to eavesdrop on the conversation happening inside.

Go around the bar to the back. There’s a door there. Open it to get inside. You’ll see two doors here.

Open the door to your right and you’ll find yourself in the toilet. You can easily eavesdrop on the conversation happening inside the bar from here.

The conversation will reveal that the individual’s name is Changming, and he’s asking Will for money. Will mentions a person named Marcus.

Will then leave the bar, likely to meet with Marcus and get Changming’s money. You will have to follow him to get to the bottom of this.

Following Will
Make sure you stay at least 15 meters away from Will. Don’t get too close or he’ll spot you easily.

He’ll often turn around to look if he’s being followed. You have to hide behind the objects or the garbage containers around here.

Shortly after, Will will take a turn to the right and pass through a gate, which will then be locked.

Fortunately, there’s another path that you can take here. Take the pathway leading to the right and then turn left.

You’ll reach a dead end, but there’s a building to your right that you can get into. Keep in mind that you don’t have to go upstairs here. Just get in from one door and out from the other.

Don’t rush to get out. Will is walking slowly, and if you’re too fast, he’ll catch you. Use your camera to see if he has passed, and then follow behind him slowly.

There’s an abandoned building right in front of the gate with stairs leading up. Go there and take the stairs.

There will be a bridge leading to another building. Keep going and make sure you’re in the green zone of the detection gauge on the top of the screen.

Go upstairs in the next building, and you’ll find another bridge connected to another building. Take it. Once you’re inside, find your way downstairs.
Be wary of Will because he’ll be walking slowly, and you don’t want to jump out in front of him. Use the camera angles to see if he has passed ahead and then come out.

Hideout
Shortly after coming out of the final building, you’ll find Will knocking on the door of a bar. He’ll be using a specific pattern to knock on the door, so be mindful to note it.

Will has a short conversation with Marcus, where Marcus will hand over the money for Changming to Will, alongside a box.

You’ll get a golden puzzle node here for the code to enter the hideout. You have to note the pauses in the knocking.

You can use the Read option here to remember how Will knocked on the door. Once you’ve entered the correct sequence, you’ll be able to enter the secret bar.

Marcus will immediately ask who sent Jane. You have to pick Will here. If you pick Changming, Marcus will simply say that his payment has been sent through Will, and if there’s anything more, he’ll have to come in person.

Gathering Information In The Hideout
As you enter the bar, you’ll find three individuals here, with the fourth one being Marcus himself. From the looks of it, this place is a gambling den.

You can talk to Marcus, and he’ll suggest a little test. If Jane succeeds, he’ll give her a job; if not, all she’ll get is some advice from him.

If you accept, Marcus will play a Shell Game with you. You’ll have to guess which glass is hiding the marble under it. You won’t be able to defeat this guy, no matter how hard you try.

After three tries, Jane will give up. You can still interrogate Marcus. If you ask him about business, Marcus will tell you that they don’t bother the cops, and the cops don’t bother them.

There’s more to the conversation where Marcus emphasizes that he personally makes sure no one cheats in the bar; you’ll have to come back to it later because there’s no way he isn’t cheating at the shell game.

Gambling For Information
Now that you’ve talked with Marcus in the hideout, you’ll have to talk to the other three individuals to gather information.

Ryan’s Game
Approach Ryan first. He’s a middle-aged blonde-haired man. Ryan plays a dice game where you will have to roll four dice at once. After you’ve rolled, you’ll have to line up the dice and rotate two that are next to each other until you get a high enough number.

The number of rotations is limited, but since there are four total dice, you can easily manipulate them to get a high enough number in the required number of turns.

For the first round, Ryan will roll 21 in 17 moves. Keep rotating two of your dice until two of them are the same number, and then get them up to show six. Do the same with the other two dice, and you’ll get yourself a good 24.

However, you won’t even have to go that high. Even 22 is enough to win most of the time, and you’ll be able to do so easily in the required number of turns.

After you’ve won three rounds, you’ll be able to interrogate Ryan. Ryan will tell you that he works as a delivery boy and transports cargo in his red truck, which is parked just outside the Backstreet Spirit bar.

When you ask Ryan about the Spider, Ryan will yell at you, urging you not to take the name again. He warns Jane about what she’s getting herself into.

Ama’s Game
If you talk to the old granny in the middle of the room, you’ll be able to get a lot of information, but only if you win, and her game is the most difficult one in this den.

Fortunately, Ama is a gentle old lady. For her game, you’ll have to remove the Bird tiles by matching the pairs. You can only remove a tile if its left or right side is free, and if there’s no tile on top of it.

For the first round, you should follow the strategy to remove all the tiles on the upper floor first, and then start removing the tiles on the left side of the bird tile in the middle.
For the second round, start by removing all the tiles on the top, and slowly remove the tiles to the left of the lower bird tile first.

As you have only two tiles left next to the bird tile, you can start focusing on removing the tiles around the upper bird tile. You’ll have enough turns left to do that successfully.

For the final round, remove all the tiles on the upper floor. After that, slowly make your way to free the upper tile.

After you’ve won three times, Ama will be willing to answer your questions. She’ll tell you that she overheard Marcus last night when he was talking to someone about a bar called The Golden Scarab and a deal that’s going to happen there in two days.

Clover’s Game
Clover’s game is fairly complicated, but easy enough to win once you get the hang of the rules. She’ll draw 9 cards and line them up. She’ll then place them on the board.

Each horizontal and vertical line of cards has a separate score, and your total score should be higher than Clover’s to win the game.

You can check the number of points you get for each sequence or pair in the top-left corner of the board.

You’ll have to win three rounds with her. You can also use hints to immediately win a round.

As you interrogate Clover, she’ll tell you that she doesn’t know about the Spider, but she knows someone who might know about him.

Clover tells Jane about her cousin Lenny, who’s on the first floor of the building with a tiger graffiti on it.

Finding Ryan’s Truck
After you’ve gathered all the information from the hideout, you can leave. There’s a door to the left, right after you go up from the stairs of the hideout.

You’ll have to lockpick one of the doors, but it leads you back to near the Backstreet Spirit bar, where Ryan’s truck is.

You’ll have to lockpick the back of the truck to take a look at the cargo he’s carrying.

But, before you can finish lockpicking, Changming will show up to stop you.

You won’t be able to do anything here as long as Changming is standing guard. Talk to him and he’ll warn you about the shady businesses in the neighborhood. However, if you talk to him further, Changming will reveal that he’s the King of the Arcade.

Make your way to the Backstreet Spirit bar, and you’ll find an arcade there. You’ll have to play a game in the arcade, and you don’t have to win.

After you finish a game, the scoreboard will show up with several high scores of other players. There’s a name mentioned several times near the top, and it’s L4W, which is likely Changming’s gamertag.

You can also make the connection in the Mind Map that Changming’s username is L4W.

Finding Lenny
As Clover mentioned, Lenny is inside a building with a tiger graffiti on it. Use the back door to reach Marcus’ hideout quickly, and from there, make your way straight ahead.

You’ll have to turn left at the end, and the path will lead you straight to the building with the tiger graffiti. You’ll find Lenny on the first floor here.

As you talk to Lenny, you’ll have to tell him that Clover sent you. He’ll be willing to talk to you then.

Talking to Lenny will reveal that a shady organization is at work here in the neighborhood. He’ll also tell you that Marcus cheats on the Shell Game using magnets.

Unfortunately, Lenny doesn’t know anything about the Spider. However, Jane mentions that Tyrone might know. Lenny suggests that she should go and take a look at Tyrone’s apartment, the one he’s currently sitting outside of.

Open the gate and you’ll find that Tyrone had passed away only yesterday. There’s a photograph of him on the floor with several gifts from the people in the neighborhood.

However, before Tyrone passed away, he typed L4W with his own blood on the floor of his apartment, which can be used to make a connection that it was Changming who was responsible for his murder.

Investigating The Truck
You’ve got what you needed from here. Head back to Changming near the truck and confront him when he says that he never killed anyone.

Use the fact that the victim identified Changming by his arcade username.

Once you do that, Changming will try to convince you that he didn’t actually commit the murder, but he was indeed responsible for it.

You’ll get a choice here to keep it a secret or report it to the police. We picked the option to let him go.

Will also arrives at the scene and watches Changming run away. He thanks Jane, saying that he didn’t like the guy much.

Finally, you’ll be able to investigate the truck. Go to the back and lockpick your way in. Jane will find a ton of cargo with AWL’s logo on it, suggesting that she’s on the right track.
The Truck Puzzle
Here, you will have to arrange the cargo trollies in such a way that Jane can reach the crates on the back of the truck.

First, move the two smaller trollies to the back and push them together.

Move the large vertical trolley and place it next to the two smaller trollies.

Push the other vertical trolley deeper into the truck. It will give you enough space to move the horizontal trolley above.

Move the Horizontal trolley all the way to the right.

Now, move the second vertical trolley up. This will give you enough room to move the third small trolley out of the way.

Move the small trolley all the way to the right.

Move the second vertical trolley downward. Do the same with the third vertical trolley near the crates.

Now, pull the second vertical trolley back upward and try to press it against the horizontal trolley.

This will give you enough space to move the final trolley out of the way and interact with the crates.

The Gun Crates And The Spire
The crates on the back of the truck contain weapons. They’re from a company called the Spire. Jane assumes that this is the same company that has been terrorizing the neighborhood.

Jane can easily make her way out of the truck without you having to move any trollies around.

Now, go to the front of the truck and get in it. You’ll have to pick the lock on the door.

You’ll find a pistol in the cabinet inside the truck. There’s also an empty bottle on the floor.

There’s nothing interesting in here so far, but if you bring down the sun visor on the driver’s seat, you’ll find a picture tucked into it.

The picture shows a location in Cairo with two pyramids in the background. The bar appears to be the same one Ama mentioned, called The Golden Scarab.

Confronting Marcus
Now that you know something is going on, you’ll have to go talk to Marcus.

Call him out on the sentence where he says no one cheats around here, and provide the fact that Marcus himself cheats in the Shell Game.

Jane then asks Marcus to remove the rings and then play the game. Marcus will move around the cups a lot faster this time, but at least he’s not cheating anymore, and you’ll be able to get it right.
After winning the game, Jane says to Marcus that she wants to work with the Spider. Marcus says she might not interest the Spider at all. However, he does ask her to run an errand.

Marcus asks Jane to find Bob’s place and get a parcel from him. He asks you to follow the graffiti of the cat right outside the hideout, and it will lead you to Bob’s place.

Tracking Graffiti to Bob’s Place
The cat’s graffiti is right outside the hideout with a hint, showing that the next graffiti would be of a bird.

If you turn right, you’ll immediately find the bird’s graffiti. However, things will get a lot more difficult from now on. The next target is a dog’s graffiti holding a bone.

From the bird graffiti, head a little ahead and enter the building to your right. Go upstairs and keep moving ahead to the other buildings.

You’ll find a metal bridge leading to another building, and that’s where you’ll find the graffiti of a dog holding a bone.

The next graffiti is of a koala. Keep going ahead, you’ll reach a building that’s mostly destroyed. There’s also a monkey graffiti here. Go downstairs from here.

The koala graffiti is right here, pointing towards a crocodile.

If you walk out of the room, you’ll be able to spot the crocodile graffiti from the window of the building that’s on the front.

The crocodile’s graffiti is pointing towards the shark, but you’re not far from Bob’s location. Bob’s place is on this floor, but you’ll need a knocking code to enter.

Fortunately, the shark that the crocodile is pointing towards has the secret code under it.

Open the mind map and interact with the golden puzzle node for the secret code. Use the knocks in the sequence as described under the shark’s graffiti.

Bob will hand over the parcel. You’ll have to take it back to the hideout and give it to Marcus.

Wrapping Up
Marcus will tell Jane that she’s too late. The Spider was here, but he left at dawn.

Marcus also tells Jane that the Spider might’ve headed for Cairo. Now, you have to connect the remaining pieces of the puzzle to find out the Spider’s next move.

On this puzzle, you have to cross-check information that you’ve gathered so far. You have to make a total of four connections between these five nodes.

First, connect Ryan’s photo with Spider’s visit to Cairo.

Now, connect the node that says The Spire traffics weapons to the node that says The Spire is behind AWL.

Connect the weapon node with the transaction that’s going to be held at the Golden Scarab in two days.

Lastly, connect the Golden Scarab node with Ryan’s photo.

That will wrap up the chapter for you as Jane prepares to depart for Cairo, where she intends to find the elusive Spider.
