Finding The Golden Scarab

Jane Royce has finally arrived in Cairo on the trail of the Spider. She’s currently looking for the Golden Scarab bar, but she only has Ryan’s photo to track down the location.

Fortunately, you’ll be able to spot the two pyramids in the picture. You just have to walk around the city until you reach an area that matches the angle of the pyramids in the picture, and you’ll be able to find it easily.

There are two people having a conversation right outside the bar. You’ll have to head inside the bar to eavesdrop on them, but you won’t find any meaningful information here.

Head upstairs in the bar, and that’s where you’ll be getting your first clue in this chapter. There’s a foreigner talking to a local Egyptian on the first floor of the bar.

Start eavesdropping on them. You’ll have to go downstairs and go to the first floor of the blue-colored building that’s adjacent to the bar, and then you’ll be able to eavesdrop on the duo perfectly.

Following The Red-Shirted Foriegner

After the foreigner is done talking, he’ll walk with the Egyptian to show him his merchandise. Jane will have to follow these two, but you’ll have to be careful here.

Keep following the two. They’ll stop a ton of times on the way, and every time, you’ll have to eavesdrop on them successfully to make them move on.

Every time you have to eavesdrop on them, you’ll have to find the way around houses and get on top of the roof that’s nearest to the two individuals, and then you’ll be able to hear what they’re talking about.

After following them for a fairly long time, the two will finally arrive in a large building.

Getting Into The Hideout

Interact with the door. You’ll have to pick the lock first, but that wouldn’t be enough to get in, as the door is locked from the inside.

You’ll have to look around and find yourself another way in.

Go around the building until you find a grey house with a staircase. Take that up, and it will lead you to a gate leading inside the building. Keep in mind that this grey house is adjacent to the building you’re trying to get into.

The path will lead you to a tiny gate on the back side of the main building that you can use to get into it.

Sneaking Into The Hideout

The hideout has many windows that you can use to see if there’s any threat in the room before you open the door. Right as Jane enters the hideout and approaches the first door, she’ll immediately approach the window to eavesdrop on a conversation.

The conversation reveals that the Spider was indeed here in Cairo, but had already left in the morning. Jane will find certain documents on the table through the window that could state where the Spider is headed next.

From the first room, enter the door on the right wall. This room will lead you into another room that has several empty shelves.

After you’ve made your way to the shelves room, head to the bedroom through the door on the right.

The bedroom leads you straight into the interior hallway. You’ll be able to spot the red-shirted foreigner from here. You want to avoid being seen by anyone else here.

Make your way to the room that had the documents on the table.

Pick up any file and start reading. Shortly, the red-shirted foreigner will arrive and catch you in action.

The Prison Escape

The foreigner has tied up Jane in the basement of the building. He’ll ask some questions, and you have to reply that you’re a tourist who’s just around to take some photos.

The red-shirted foreigner will leave, saying that Hisham will come and deal with you later. Now, you’re left alone inside a tiny room with a few scraps.

Fortunately, these tiny scraps are just what Jane needs to escape from here. Inspect everything in the room, including the lantern above.

Now, open the Mind Map and start making connections. You’ll reach the conclusion that you can bring the lantern down and use the fire to free your legs from the rope.

Now, you have to move back and forth. This will cause Jane to fall to the pillar on her back, freeing the lantern from the ceiling.

Once you’re free, open up the locker in the room. You’ll find a mousetrap here.

Jane doesn’t have her lockpicking tools here, so the metal rods from the mousetrap will allow her to free her handcuffs as well. Make that connection, and Jane will do the task.

Once you’re free, put the chair in front of the door to see through the vent above the main door.

After that, you’ll notice there’s a mirror outside the door, allowing you to take a look at the type of lock the door has.

You’ll need to use the rope to pull the door’s latch up to free yourself. Each task requires you to make a connection first in the Mind Map, and then you can pull it off by interacting with the objects.

Escaping The Hideout

The basement is full of weapon crates. You will have to inspect one of the crates to complete the objective. You can leave the basement after that.

Once you exit the basement, you’ll be on the ground floor of the hideout. You’ll have to make your way up to the room where you got caught, but there are plenty of bad guys watching over the path. If they catch you, you’ll have to start over.

After you find your way to the room with the documents, you’ll have to check each one. There’s also a file labeled Spider. There will be a postcard in it. Inspect the postcard.

After you’re done checking the files on the top, it’s time to check the drawers. There’s a document by the Spire in the bottom-right drawer.

You can also find Jane’s lockpicking tools in the top-right drawer. However, the most important piece of information is in the top-left drawer.

There will be a postcard detailing a transaction, the Spider, and the Karnak. This postcard can be used to decrypt the other encrypted messages.

After you’ve gathered all of the items, the golden puzzle node will unlock. You have to solve it right here and now, because without completing it, you won’t be able to leave the hideout.

Completing The Puzzle

Open the Mind Map and interact with the golden puzzle node. Here, you’ll have to match the words between an encrypted and a decrypted postcard.

Now, you’ll have to decrypt another postcard. Select the correct word for each of the codewords used in the postcard.

Once you’re done, you’ll end up with a fully decrypted message stating that the Spider will be delivering merchandise near Abu Simbel on 23 February via the Karnak.

Now that you’ve got everything you needed, you have to get out of the hideout.

Make your way to the ground floor. Here, you’ll find the door that you had tried to lockpick from the outside. Interact with the gate to leave the hideout.

As Jane leaves the hideout, she’s planning her next move. She’ll approach a phone in a nearby bar, and then you’ll have to make a choice.

You can either choose to call the police and hand over the case to them, or wait till you’ve actually caught the Spider yourself. We picked the second option here, and once you make your choice, the chapter will end.
