Louise Bourget’s Murder
The final chapter resumes the story from when Jane left to chase Richetti after discovering that he is the spider. Now, Hercule Poirot has to solve the rest of the case by himself.
Examine the dead body of Louise Bourget. It’s clear that her throat was slashed with a sharp object, likely a scalpel, which makes Dr. Bessner a suspect, since he’s the only doctor on the boat.

However, there are other suspects that are much higher on the list. Considering the fact that Louise was blackmailing someone shows that she was aware of the real identity of the killer of Linnet Doyle.
Louise was also planning to blackmail Richetti, but since he was with Yamao Hayashi, he couldn’t have been the killer.

Now, you’ll have to go and interrogate him. As you ask Dr. Bessner questions about his scalpel, he gets furious. Even though Poirot only wants him to check if he’s missing a scalpel, Bessner gets furious that Poirot is considering him a suspect.
Dr. Bessner will then walk out of the cabin, leaving Simon Doyle and Hercule Poirot alone in the room.

Salome Otterbourne’s Murder
After uncovering that the scalpel was missing, Salome Otterbourne will barge into Dr. Bessner’s cabin.

Salome Otterbourne claims that she caught the culprit entering the saloon before Louise’s death. However, just before she can take the name of the culprit, she’s shot in the head.

Poirot runs out of the cabin to catch the killer, but is stopped by Mr. Fergusson shortly after.
Poirot will have to talk to the passengers before he concludes that the killer is either Mr. Fergusson, or the killer jumped over the deck, or the killer went inside one of the cabins after committing the murder.
You’ll find Andrew Pennington’s gun near the scene. However, Andrew couldn’t have been the culprit as he didn’t leave the lounge.

The Primary Clue
There’s one thing that Poirot had missed among all the chaos. Tim Allerton, when confronted with the fact that he had stolen the pearl necklace, revealed that he had heard a splashing sound near the bow.
However, this wasn’t the same sound everyone else heard, because this sound was around 12:30 am. Poirot suspects that this might be the murder weapon that he’s after.

Go to the lower deck and interact with the railing near the bow of the boat. Samir will show up with the clam rake to help out Poirot.

After you bring up the wreckage from the bottom of the Nile, you’ll find that the murder weapon has been wrapped inside Marie Van Schuyler’s missing shawl and has been thrown under the water alongside a handkerchief with red marks on it.

Piecing It Together
On closer inspection, Poirot suspects that the red marks on the handkerchief aren’t from blood, but something else. He remembers seeing something similar in Linnet’s makeup bag.
Go to Linnet’s room and inspect the pink case. It will have a nail varnish labeled as Pink, but it contains red ink inside it.

Marie’s scarf is also riddled with bullet holes. It appears that someone had used the scarf to muffle the sound of the bullet being fired from Jackie’s revolver.
Poirot also inspects Jackie’s revolver that has been uncovered from the Nile, and finds out that three shots were fired. Only two of those shots were heard by everyone on the boat. Poirot reaches the conclusion that Marie’s scarf was used to muffle the sound of the third shot.

Mental Reconstruction
You might have an idea of who the real culprit is. The crime was carefully premeditated. There are several time slots here that you have to fill in with all the relevant information that you have acquired from the passengers.

However, for the culprit, you’ll have to use Simon Doyle. It was, in fact, Simon Doyle, who never got shot by the first bullet fired by Jacqueline de Bellefort, and while he was left alone for five minutes in the lounge, that was enough for him to go and murder Linnet Doyle in her cabin.

After the mental reconstruction is complete, Poirot will ask Samir to gather all the passengers in the lounge. Jane also arrives with Richetti on the Karnak. Poirot invites her to the lounge alongside everyone else.

The Final Act
As all the passengers are gathered in the lounge, Poirot explains his hypotheses that he achieved after completing the mental reconstruction of the event.
Simon Doyle had never been injured by the shot fired by Jackie; it was all an elaborate plan. While Simon was left alone in the lounge, he committed the murder, and then shot himself in the knee for real to give himself an alibi.

Simon had also instructed the passengers who were with him at the time to watch over Jackie and not to leave her alone all night, so she could have a solid alibi for the murder as well.
Hercule Poirot will then ask Jane to find the evidence. There’s a bullet hole in the wall near where Andrew Pennington is sitting. Interact with it.

The Murder Of Louise Bourget And Salome Otterbourne
Louise Bourget had seen Simon commit the murder that night, but instead of telling Poirot, she blackmailed him for money.
When Simon asked to see Jackie and apologize to her in Dr. Bessner’s cabin, he asked her to get rid of Louise with one of Dr. Bessner’s scalpels. Furthermore, Simon had been shouting loudly when Salome Otterbourne was about to reveal the killer, buying time so that Jackie could hear him and do something about her.
Jackie then used her quick wit to get Andrew Pennington’s handgun and shot Salome Otterbourne, and hid inside her cabin shortly before Poirot could come out.

The two had planned an elaborate murder, and drugged Poirot the night before so that he couldn’t meddle in their planning.
Jackie then accepts that all of this was their plan. She explains how and why she did all that. Once she’s done, she’ll take Andrew Pennington’s handgun and kill Simon Doyle, before killing herself shortly after.
The chapter ends after the murder mystery is solved, and Karnak finally moves towards Aswan.
