Agatha Christie: Death On The Nile – Epilogue 2 Walkthrough

Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile

Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile Epilogue 2 is one of the two endings of the game. The type of ending you get depends on the choices that you’ve made while playing as Jane Royce. For more information on Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile, check out their official Steam page.

In Epilogue 2, you’ll have to play as Hercule Poirot to solve the mystery of a sudden murder at the hotel in Aswan.

The Dinner

The passengers have finally returned to the Imperial Hotel in Aswan and are currently having Dinner. Hercule Poirot is eating with Jane Royce. After the dinner, Poirot sits down in the lobby, where Jane Royce shortly joins him for a game of chess.

An hour and a half later, Elizabeth Bowers will head out to the lounge while Poirot and Jane are finishing up with their match. Shortly after, Bowers comes out running back into the lobby, saying that someone is floating in the pool.

It will be revealed that Andrew Pennington had died in the pool. Poirot decides to take the case and find out the murderer.

Dr. Bessner will arrive shortly to take the dead body out of the water. He’ll be inspecting and keeping a close eye on the dead body while Poirot continues on with the investigation.

Murder Or Suicide

The first thing that Poirot and Dr. Bessner have to decide is whether Pennington drowned or was thrown into the water after death.

Since the body was floating in the water, it is safe to assume that Pennington didn’t drown. There’s a wound on Pennington’s head, ensuring that he had died by hitting the back of his head against the pool before being thrown into the water.

If you inspect the pool, you’ll find alcohol bottles everywhere. There’s also some blood stuck to one of the edges of the pool.

It is safe to assume that Pennington was pushed when he hit his head on the edge of the pool, dying immediately. After that, the culprit pushed Pennington’s body underwater, where it started to float.

Remembering The Past

Poirot is confident that he saw everyone who entered the terrace while he was sitting in the lobby and playing chess with Jane Royce.

Go back to the lobby and sit in the chair to think about everyone who had gone to the terrace during the duration till the body was discovered.

There will be a total of six suspects: Jane Royce, Richard Ferguson, Tim Allerton, Rosalie Otterbourne, Yamao Hayashi, and Elizabeth Bowers. We can safely rule out Bowers because she was only there for a few minutes, and couldn’t have committed the murder during that duration.

Interrogate each of the suspects, including Miss Bowers.

Yamao Hayashi will first lie about the fact that he didn’t see anyone. But after you’ve talked to Elizabeth Bowers, it will be revealed that Yamao might be lying. You’ll have to confront him.

It will be revealed that Yamao Hayashi had an argument with Pennington before he passed away, and Yamao Hayashi might’ve also pushed Pennington rather violently.

Yamao Hayashi thinks he might’ve killed Pennington, but at the end, he mentions one more detail. He spotted two alcohol bottles fitted into his jacket while he was floating. Poirot rushes out, exclaiming that Yamao should’ve mentioned the details sooner.

The Bottles In The Jacket

It’s time to take out the bottle that has been floating around in the swimming pool. Approach the swimming pool area.

There’s a wooden shed there. There’s a rake inside to pull out the trash from the swimming pool. You’ll also find some salt here that’s used to clean the chlorine from the swimming pool.

Pull the bottle out, and you’ll find that salt has been added to the water bottles to increase the weight.

Hercule Poirot can deduce that the bottles were filled with salt to hide the body under the water. After the salt dissolved in a few hours, the body resurfaced, and that means the murder was committed far earlier than he thought.

The Secret

If you return to the hotel after finding out about the bottles filled with salt, Yamao Hayashi will approach you with another key detail. He’ll tell you that Pennington had said during the argument that if Richetti were here, he would have taken care of him.

The conversation suggests that Andrew Pennington and Guido Richetti, who is a member of the Spire, are connected. This will prompt Poirot to find Jane.

Approach Jane’s room. You’ll find that clues have been stripped from the wall in a hurry or anger. Some objects around are also broken, showing that the room was either ransacked or Jane had exploded in rage.

Confronting The Murderer

All clues point in one direction. It was Jane Royce who had committed the murder. If you go to the terrace, you’ll find Jane on the other end.

As you slowly approach her, she’ll go to the edge and sit down so Poirot can question her.

Poirot then talks to her about the crime she had committed. In the end, Jane will ask if Poirot is going to hand her over to the police.

You’re free to make a choice here. You can choose not to report to the police. We also picked the option not to report the entire case to the police in order to save Jane.

In the end, Poirot will tell Jane that she must live with what she has done, and that’s punishment enough for her, marking the end of Epilogue 2.
