In this walkthrough, we will cover Akatori‘s Amber Mines biome.
Previously, we escaped from the Storage Facility, as the Amber Storms broke the elevator in the other realm. However, the storms affected all the military scientists, leaving Mako alone. Back at the Monastery, we fight against Takasugi, Akatori’s friend, but despite being the winner, Mako and Akatori part ways.

The Old Well Portal

With the Monastery on fire and Abbot passing away, Mako wants to make things right. From the burning grounds, go right to find a well. There’s a hidden path under it, so hold the down button and press space to go below.
You will land in water, then go left to reunite with Akatori. Thanks to Takatsugi’s defeat, we learned a new ability: Underwater Dash. The waters of this land are full of electric vines, and dashing through them will negate all their damage. So, swim right and follow the path to reach the lower part of the cave.

After taking a few steps, you will come across the teleporter. Interact with it to enter the Amber Mines of the other realm.
The Amber Mines

In the Amber Mines, your first objective is to move away from the teleporter, as the police might try to apprehend you, as per Akatori. Drop down and go deeper into the mines. There will be a Guide Stone; rest if you have low health. Keep going right until you reach a platform, and this objective will be completed. Now, we have to go to the pump.
Jump down from the platform and swim right underwater to enter the pump room. However, it’s broken. Check the instructions near it, but Mako will fail to read them. To make it easier for her, Akatori says we need three valves to make it work.

Note: Always check your map for objective and interesting, open locations to find points of interest.
First, we need to find the pump’s control panel. For it, go below the platform near the instructions. Keep following the path downwards until you meet two merchants. Interact with them if you want anything, then go right and drop down the platform to enter Flooded Grotto.
There is the control panel of the pump. Interact with it, and from here, our journey to find all the valves begins.
The Red Valve

For the Red Valve, return to the entrance of this room (before the Flooded Grotto), and go right. Keep moving forward while avoiding the giant fish, red crystals, and enemies. Eventually, you will find the red valve in an open area.
Pick it up, then return to the pump and install it on the pipes to its right.
The Green Valve

Now that we have the red valve, we set out to find the green valve. Return to the two merchants below, rest at the Guide Stone, and go to the path above it. To climb it, jump right, dash, and then use the second jump. There’s a lock to a door above you, so go and break it, making a shortcut.
Be careful of the monster that drops boulders; you can’t beat it. So, jump across the crystals, and you will find another Chaos Bell. You can only activate it if you have enough Chaos (the purple bar). After it, go left to find an Amber Crystal, then return and go underwater.

Avoid the breathing electric vines, as they do significant damage on contact. Go down, right, then jump and climb the ledge and defeat the enemies. Follow the path ahead to enter a completely underwater area. Keep going with the water currents while avoiding the electric vines. At the top left, you will find another room to a new area, and in the nick of time, you will return to the ground.
There will be a beaver enemy, which deals significant damage. After defeating it, interact with the Guide Stone above you. Below you is a convoluted underwater path that you have to traverse until you reach the next Guide Stone; check the map for the right way.

In the next room, two massive cogs can be rotated simultaneously. For the right placement, check the image below. Now, there are two paths: The Waterfall Bridge and the Water Elevator. First, we go left to the Water Elevator for the Green Valve.

Cross the red crystals and defeat the enemies. Drop down, then go right while avoiding the electric crystals. Reach the bottom area, and then go left above the next Guide Stone. There are two paths leading to the Water Elevator here. Take the upper path to reach it faster, and then head inside the elevator.

It’s all trial and error. As you climb the Water Elevator, numerous water currents will try to push you into the crystals. To avoid them, dash into the opposite direction. Multiple electric vines block the exit of the elevator. As soon as you see them, dash through them and then go left to finally find the green valve.
The Blue Valve

It’s time for the final valve. Return to the water elevator and go right instead to find a new area. Here, keep going downwards until you hit the rock bottom. Go right, then jump above to the ledge. Defeat the enemies, break the door with locks below it, and climb it.
This will lead you to a platforming section covered in crystals. First, keep going left until there’s a platform above you. Climb it, then go into the room to find a shortcut leading back to the teleporter. Now, return to the platforming section and go right to find another locked door.

And there, you will find an enemy with the Blue Valve. Defeat it and retrieve the valve to complete this objective. To return to the pump, go down in this area and focus on the right path. Additionally, you can check the map to find a red door. Break it to find yourself back in the boulder enemy area. Go right and climb the platform to reach the pump again.
Now that we have activated the pump, we need to find Akatori’s key.
Akatori’s Key

For Akatori’s key, return to Flooded Grotto, which is completely dry now. Get to the bottom and hit the lever to your right to open the gate leading to the depths of Amber Mines. Jump down the gate to enter another underwater area.
Swim downwards-right to find another level. However, as soon as you open it, a Sea Serpent will try to chase you down. Take the water currents and maneuver through the platforms to escape it; don’t let the debris fall on you. Don’t stop. If the serpent is near you, take the platforms above the water to avoid its lethal bite.

Tip: The Sea Serpent chase is long, and it's possible you may die multiple times. Learn the placements of the crystals and vines.
Eventually, you will outpace the serpent and reach the exit. Rest at the Guide Stone and buy something from the merchant if you’d like. From here, go right, and you will reach a room where the serpent will finally catch you off guard.
With this, our fight with the Sea Serpent begins.
Sea Serpent – Boss Fight

The Sea Serpent is a massive boss in Akatori, and defeating it is quite a challenge. Like how we fought Turtle and Takatsugi, we can’t defeat it by normal means. All you have to do is avoid its attacks: falling boulders, tail swipes, and venom spits.
Its venom spits stay on the platform for ~10 seconds, and it swipes the tail three times across the arena. However, you can’t attack the Serpent even if you try to hit its head.

The key to defeating the boss is to stand still for a moment and wait for it to slam its mouth on the floor. It will send shockwaves through the arena, but its teeth will be stuck to the floor. As soon as it can’t move, attack its eyes.
After depleting 50% of the boss’ HP, one of its eyes will become invulnerable. Wait for the Sea Serpent to slam its head again, then focus on the other eye. Suddenly, both of its eyes will become invulnerable, and when it opens them again, they’ll be red.

The red eyes indicate the second phase of this fight. Instead of slamming its mouth, the serpent will use its tongue to attack you. Dodge it four times, and it will get stuck to the ground. That’s your cue. Attack its tongue to defeat the Sea Serpent.
After its death, Mako will fall unconscious due to another Amber Storm. When she wakes up, Akatori has already received the key, and now we have to return to the teleporter. Since it’s far away, we’ll use a nearby teleporter.

So, from the boss arena, go right and climb the platform to enter the room above. Keep moving top left to find a breakable platform, then reach the next room. You will find another teleporter there. Interact with it to return to the Amber Castle, but instead you’ll be confronted by a thief who steals Akatori’s key from you.
And here, our Akatori Amber Mines walkthrough comes to an end. We’ll continue our next walkthrough by chasing the thief down for the key.
