Alabaster Dawn: Journey Up North Walkthrough

Alabaster Dawn Walkthrough

Juno successfully reunites with her parents and the rest of the villagers, but Nyx’s corruption has reached far beyond the vast lands. After tying knots with neighbors in Kamu Valley, her journey to the north continues with Filia.

In this walkthrough, I’ll cover Alabaster Dawn‘s Journey Up North complete questline, including its bosses.



Journey Up North – Hall of Trials 1F

Entering The First Hall of Trials.

After defeating numerous Nuemera and recruiting Filia as a party member, Juno and her enter the Divine Hall of Trials together. All rooms inside the Hall of Trials are indicated with Ax, where x is the room number.

The first thing you will notice after entering the Hall of Trials is the floating mechanism to your left. Shoot a bolt at it to disable the barrier, then stand on the platform above. From there, shoot the mechanism on your right to raise it.

Move forward, and shoot the mechanism in the middle. After crossing halfway, shoot it again, and then repeat the process on the next platform. Head inside the next room (A2) to find Nyx’s remnants and fight the Nuemera.

Tip: After an encounter, check your Growth Points regularly and utilize them to unlock further skills.

Interact with the newly revealed rings to help Filia weave platforms inside the Hall. First, hit the left crystal with a ranged weapon, then jump on the platform in the middle of the water. Shoot at the next crystal to create a bridge to access the room and allow Filia to join you.

Defeat the Nuemera there and interact with the rings. Filia will spawn two blocks. Move the first one into the middle of the area, and use the stairs to jump across the gap with the block’s help. Drop the second block on the floor to use it as a support to reach the next area.

Note: See the circles with stars on the floor? That tells you where to put the blocks for efficient jumping.

Help Filia into the next ring, then drop down into the pit. Two crystals and blocks can be controlled individually. First, grab the left block and drag it to the middle, which will let you jump from the block to the next platform.

Go to the right side and drag the block near the first crystal platform. With this, you have made the path to the second room.

Solving The Second Puzzle Of A3.

Shoot the crystal, and jump on its platform. Now, from there, jump on the second block, and shoot the crystal in the middle. Use the next platform to access the door that will lead you to the previous room.

Use the rings again to activate the crystal to your right. A moving platform will appear. Now, use it to jump onto the platform, then hit the other crystal and enter the second room.

In this room, hit the mechanism in the middle to create an arrow. Aim the arrow at the mechanism to your left and shoot it to raise a platform near you. Afterwards, there’s a sequence of arrow mechanisms; lead it to the end to make the bottom area accessible; it has another puzzle, but it’s tricky to solve.

Both ranged weapons can solve this puzzle. If you’re using the crossbow like me, then you will see the arrow. Otherwise, you can use the Chakram to solve it.

There are four mechanisms for this puzzle: one in the bottom area, and the other three above. Hit the bottom mechanism to drop the barrier for the upper right mechanism. Aim and shoot at the upper-right one to form an arrow at it, then shoot it into the middle mechanism.

Now, if you shoot your ranged weapon, it will drop the arrow. So, hit the bottom mechanism with your melee weapon to raise the left barrier, and then further the arrow to complete this puzzle. However, before you can move forward, numerous Nuemera will block your path.

Defeat them, and exit the room to return to the main area with the key, Trial Mark, to progress into the next area.

A5

The A5 area introduced a new Nuemera covered in a shell that has no stagger bar. No matter the hits, it will not be staggered. Defeat all the enemies in the room, and then a new, electric platform will appear; A5 has four electric pedestals and two normal mechanisms.

Stand on the electric platform, and hit the two pedestals above first. Then, shoot your ranged weapon at the bottom right mechanism and then forward it to the electric pedestal. Do the same with the left mechanism, but start with the right one.

In the next section, the floor switch is blocked by an electric barrier. See the electric platform to your left? Stand there and then the purple block inside a golden hand. They will break the barrier. Stand on the floor switch and then move right.

You will find another electric platform there. However, if you try to hit the golden hand again, it won’t work as it’s too far away to chain the electric attack to break the barrier. Now, interact with the rings at the bottom right, and Filia will spawn two blocks.

Take the bottom block and move it to the left to form a diagonal connection between the golden hand and the electric pillar (right). Stand on the platform and then shoot the hand. With both blocks now accessible, move both of them to the left and shoot the golden hand again.

Finally, break the electric pedestal and then access the elevator ahead to ascend.

2F – B1

Fighting Against Nuemera On The Second Floor.

When you reach the second floor, there are two plants on each side. Break them to replenish your HP, giving you an advantage in the next encounter; it begins right after breaking the electric pedestals.

After clearing the first wave, numerous shelled Nuemera will spawn. To damage them faster, stand on the electric platform and use your ranged weapon. In the third wave, an empowered turtle will arrive, which deals massive damage with every attack.

The best way to defeat it is to stay defensive and capitalize on the time window whenever it stops. When it’s defeated, enter the next room.

B2

In B2, Juno will receive the power of Aether from Libra. Aether is one of the elements that your weapons can use; the first one is Physis. Press 2 to change your element.

With that, exit the room to complete the Aether Hall of Trial.

Journey Up North – To Remis Rock

Juno and Filia Outside The Hall.

Outside the Hall of Trials, turn right and defeat the shelled enemies; Aether damages them faster. Jump across the cliff and interact with the rings. Once Filia is inside them, hit on the crystal to your right; it’s time-sensitive. Climb the platform to break the rocks with your Divine Hammer and use your ranged weapon on the golden hand.

You have to be quick here. When the electric barrier breaks, immediately hit the crystal again, climb the next platform, and then weave the nest. When the wall goes down, jump across the cliff with the platform in the middle.

Filia Using The Rings To Spawn Crystals.

Another encounter will begin, but one of the enemies will be covered by the electric barrier. The trick here is to defeat all the unprotected enemies first, and then shoot the golden hand to break that barrier and defeat the remaining enemy. In the next wave, two barriers will emerge; repeat the process.

This encounter will reward you with another Divine Art called Crack Shot. Ahead, a Divine Bridge will appear, allowing Juno and Filia to cross the big gap between the cliffs. However, while they have reached Remis Rock, their journey isn’t over, as another Hall of Trial is nearby.

After Juno and Filia rest at the Waysprout, head towards the second Hall of Trials. Before you can enter, an encounter will begin. Here, you will face a new enemy called Flyfish, which can spin at intense speed and shoot projectiles individually. Parrying is the key to defeating it.

Successfully conquer this encounter, and head inside the Hall of Trials.

B3

The second floor of the previous Hall of Trials continues from here. To solve the puzzle in B3, let Filia enter the rings, then hit the right crystal to activate the first moving platform. Jump on it, and when it reaches the end of its track, jump on the next platform, then hit the left crystal.

At the track’s end, hit the crystal in the middle, which will drop a barrier. Cross it, then hit the left crystal to reach the area to your left. Defeat the encounter to raise a bridge for Filia. Interact with the rings near you, then jump on the moving platform above. Hit the crystal to activate it and move to the next area with two floor switches.

Before the switches, embed your ranged weapon into the upper left mechanism, then activate the floor switch above. When it reaches the second mechanism below, use the other floor switch and throw your ranged weapon on it to raise the next bridge. From here, you can exit B3.

NOTE: The part below is only relevant after using the Trial Mark in B4.

Solving The Upper Section Puzzle In B3.

Back in B3, enter the rings and hit the right golden hand. In the center, activate the right floor switch, then throw the purple floating block ahead. There, catch it and push it into the golden mechanism that you activated with the floor switch.

Hit the right floor switch again, and when the platform returns to its place, hit the center floor switch to activate the next platform. When it reaches the right, throw the floating block into the normal electric block to start a chain reaction; it will solve the right side of this puzzle.

For the left side, hit the golden hand to activate the other purple floating block. Push it ahead near the normal purple block, then activate the left floor switch to move the purple block platform. Now, activate the center floor switch to create a line of connection between the blocks, and then push the purple floating block into the normal block.

With the electric barriers down, hit the two mechanisms ahead to create a bridge and enter B8.

B4

Entering B4.

In B4, break the corrupted rocks ahead with the Divine Bow, and kill all the enemies in the vicinity. To continue B4 further, you will need a Trial Mark. Go to the bottom-left area and enter through the door to B5 and get the Trial Mark.

NOTE: The part below is only relevant after completing B5, B6, and B7. 
Using The Trial Mark To Unlock The Path.

After retrieving the Trial Mark from B5, return to B4 and use it to unlock the path ahead. There, an encounter will begin that introduces a slug-like enemy that can throw explosive balls. Stay away from its radius, and defeat every Nuemera.

With this encounter, a Waysprout will appear. Use it to rest and replenish your HP, then continue through the Hall of Trials; you will enter B3’s second section from the door ahead.

B5

Filia Inside The Rings.

Before using Nyx’s lump, go to the bottom and head left to interact with the rings. Take the block and put it into the right corner of its path. Return to Nyx’s lump, and shoot it to push it towards the block; it flows in water.

When it’s stuck into the mechanism over the block, drag the block into the center and push the lump into the tentacles above.

With the wall dropped, enter B6.

NOTE: The part below is only relevant after completing B6 and B7.

Back in B5, interact with the rings to spawn two blocks with golden mechanisms on top of them. First, drag the bottom block to its path’s right end, then from the bridge, catch Nyx’s lump and push it into the mechanism on top of that block.

Acquiring The Trial Mark In B5.

Drag the block again till the central path, and use the block above to move Nyx’s lump and push it into the tentacles. After the walls drop, get the Trial Mark and return to B4.

B6

Entering B6.

Break the corrupted rocks before you, then follow the path ahead to shoot the exploding corrupted rock to clear other debris. After you drop down, an encounter will welcome you.

Surviving An Encounter.

Defeat the Nuemera, but before you can weave Nyx’s nest, it will be blocked by an electric barrier. A new electric purple block will appear.

Hit the golden hand to raise the purple block. It acts similarly to Nyx’s lump. So, push it to the opening, and then catch and throw it into the purple rock to create a chain attack that breaks the electric barrier.

In the next area, use the golden hand again and then push the purple floating block into the water. Then, catch it, push it into the mechanism to your left, and hit the barrier-generating block.

For the next puzzle, hit the golden hand and then push the floating purple block adjacent to the normal purple block above.

Catch and throw the floating block into it, and wait for the chain reaction to happen. With this, the next purple floating block will rise. Push it forward, then into the golden mechanism to its right.

Opening The Path To B7.

Move it through the path to ultimately destroy the electric barrier blocking the door to B7.

B7

Fighting Against Nuemera in B7.

In B7, there is only an encounter with numerous Nuemera. Defeat them all first, and then you can access two doors. The door above leads to B4’s back area, where you can only break some of the vases to gain items.

Now, from the bottom door, return to B5.

B8

The First Encounter In B8.

After taking a few steps in B8, you will be met with an encounter. There, a unique situation will present itself: A Nuemera protected with an electric barrier with no means to destroy it. Since it’s a slug-like enemy, it throws exploding balls.

Suddenly, Filia will hold it to weave it, and it will drop a purple floating block. Catch and throw it into the generator to make the enemy vulnerable. Defeat it, and the pattern will repeat in the next encounter with a twist.

Causing A Chain Reaction.

Grab the purple floating block from the weaved exploding all, and throw it into the electric blocks to wear off the Turtle’s shield. Complete this encounter to open the path to B9.

B9

Solving The Elemental Puzzle in B9.

The first puzzle of B9 requires both elements individually. Throw your ranged weapon into the middle mechanism, and press 2 to change to the Aether element. Then, catch and throw the projectile into the following mechanism and hit the crystal.

Do the same for the left crystal, but press 1 to change to Physis element first. Now, the puzzles below are far trickier than anything you have encountered so far. One thing that you need to know is that you can change elements after throwing a projectile into a mechanism simultaneously.

So, in the left section, change the element to Aether and throw your first projectile into the mechanism. Forward it into the Aether mechanism, and press 1 to change to Physis; it will shift your ranged weapon as well. Now, throw the second weapon into the mechanism again, and move it downwards to hit the Physis mechanism to drop the barrier.

Press 2 again and forward your Aether projectile into the mechanism below. Now, in quick succession, hit the first crystal with your Aether projectile, and then immediately press 1 to hit the other crystal with your Physis weapon. The left section will be completed.

The Second Puzzle in B9.

For the right section, interact with the rings to let Filia control the surroundings. A block with a golden mechanism will spawn. Before anything, hit the golden hand to activate the purple floating block, then use the Aether Chakram to catch it and put it inside the block’s mechanism.

Now, drag the block on the floor switch near it to drop the barrier; numerous floor switches only work if they’re pressed.

When the barrier is dropped, throw a Physis projectile into the mechanism beyond it to raise a bridge. Drag the block across the bridge, and then push the projectile into the next mechanism to raise another bridge. Push the block again on a floor switch below it, and then stand on the switch to your right to drop the next barrier. Forward the projectile again, and wait for the next bridge to unfold.

Push it through the next bridge and stop it on the switch to drop the barrier that blocks another switch, then stand on that and forward the projectile into the fourth mechanism. With this, the protected electric generator will become vulnerable.

To solve the final phase of this puzzle, press 2 to switch to Aether Chakram, and push the purple floating block into the electric generator. From here, the path to B10 will be available.

B10

The Encounter in B10.

B10 only consists of an encounter with Nuemera, and it’s a long one. With numerous Turtle and FlyingFish enemies, stay defensive and attack whenever you see the chance.

After the encounter, you will return to B3. Move north to find the next elevator and exit the Hall of Trials.

At the top, use the Waysprout to rest and heal. Ahead, you will find Nyx’s Spire, and to get to it, turn left and jump on the disparate rocks to cross the gap.

But before you can reach it, a massive boss named Rana Lingua Magna will arrive to defend the spire.

Rana Lingua Magna is a massive toad that plays extremely aggressively and has a ton of HP. In the first phase, Magna uses its tongue to expel electricity that deals significant damage and will spread around the arena after a few seconds; stay away from its lines.

Keep hitting its head until the stagger meter charges. If the boss jumps, stay away from the highlighted area as it will smash the ground. Dash away to dodge this attack. Standing too close to the boss will result in a head smash attack; dash backwards if you see a highlighted area forming near its head.

Magna will throw its tongue out when it is staggered. Hit it to deal devastating damage; that’s the fight loop. Stagger it and then attack its tongue.

In the second phase, Magna will incorporate all of its attacks to create combos. Additionally, it also introduces another attack called High Jump, allowing it to jump higher than ever and smash the ground twice. To dodge it, dash away twice.

However, in this phase, Magna will heal itself when its tongue falls out. To stop it, the slug Nuemera will arrive. Wait for them to throw the explosive balls and Filia to weave them, then use the Chakram to hit them to form a purple floating block. Throw the block on its tongue to make it vulnerable, and attack it.

The final phase plays out similarly to the previous ones, except that Magna’s tongue is defended by two electrical generators. To stop them, two slug Nuemera will spawn; you know the drill now.

Play defensively, attack at the right moment, wait for Magna’s tongue to fall out, and attack it to ultimately defeat it.

When the fight ends, head towards Nyx’s Spire to seal it with Filia’s assistance, then use the elevator to return to the entrance. Now, continue your journey to the north with the newly opened path. From here, you will reach the mountain’s end, where Juno and Filia watch the second Nyx’s nest.
