You learn the basic mechanics of survival in the previous chapter, but now you need to unlock new recipes, tools, and complete new quests. Craft advanced campfires for better, longer-lasting heat outdoors. Experiment with cooking different dishes to learn their effects.

Craft Stone Pickaxe and Stone Knife

Before venturing to the northwest region to locate the broken bridge, make sure to craft the Stone Pickaxe. This tool is used to mine the nodes in the area. Use 1xStick and 2xRock to craft the Stone Pickaxe.

Crafting a Stone Knife is crucial, as you will encounter deadly enemies on your way. Use 1xStick and 1xRock to craft the Stone Knife at the crafting menu. Use this knife to eliminate the enemies to progress.

Break the Nodes

Make your way out of the cabin and collect the red berries and mushrooms during your journey. Go to the back of the cabin and keep moving in a straight direction while looting all the useful items. You will eventually find the nodes on your way. Equip your Stone Pickaxe and hold the ‘E’ key to start mining the nodes. Keep holding the button till the bar gauge fills up.

Get Inside the Cave

Breaking the nodes allows you to gain Rocks that are useful for crafting new items. So, breaking the nodes is the most effective way to acquire the rocks. You will find a cave near the river, but the entrance is blocked by the giant node.

Hold your Stone Pickaxe and continue breaking the giant node to clear the entrance. Breaking this one allows you to get your hands on the 3x Iron Ore and 2x Rocks. Get inside the cave and continue moving in a straight direction.

Explore the Cave

You can find a node on your right, just after you get inside the cave. Use your Stone Pickaxe to break it and gain Iron Ore. You will use this material later in the game to craft new items. Keep finding the nodes and break them to collect multiple Iron Ore.

Obtain Nocturnal Crystal

However, the Stone Pickaxe also has durability. This means it will eventually break if you keep using it on the nodes. So, you have to craft a new one using the required materials in the crafting menu. Keep moving, and you will be attacked by an enemy. Make sure to hold the Stone Knife and attack the enemy.

You need to hit the enemy multiple times to eliminate it. Block its attacks and hit the enemy with the right strategy. Make sure your weapon has enough durability. Defeating this enemy allows you to gain Nocturnal Crystal by pressing the ‘E’ key.

Move to the end of the cave

You will come across two boxes on your left after taking a few steps ahead. Interact with the boxes and gain Rocks, Rope, Iron Ore, and Sulphur. Collect the Dog Collar from near the two boxes. You can find the note on your left on the bench.

There’s a giant node on your right that you can mine using the right pickaxe. The path in front of you is blocked by the big iron nodes. Use the pickaxe to break them and continue moving. Most of the nodes here require the right pickaxe to break. Once you make your way to the end, the path is blocked by the special nodes. So, you can’t use the ordinary pickaxe to break them.

Encounter the Second Enemy

Now, return from here and take the path on the right. Continue moving the path, and you will be attacked by another enemy here. Use your weapon to block the attack by pressing the RMB, and attack by pressing the LMB. Once you defeat this enemy, you can collect the Nocturnal Crystal.

Get out of the Cave

The path in front of you is blocked, so you need to make your way out of the cave. Keep in mind that some of the mobs will have more serious damage. So, the more serious damage will cause a higher durability loss. If you don’t manage your durability, then it will actually drain the durability on your weapon. So, the fight will go sideways.

Return to Cabin

Get out of the cave and turn on the torch to keep moving towards the cabin. Your energy, warmth, and food level will be halved till by now. Once you get inside the cabin, interact with the Crafting Table to craft the Iron Knife. The materials required to craft the Iron Knife are 1xStick, 1xIron Ingot, and 1xRope.

Craft Iron Knife

An Iron Ingot can be crafted using 2xIron Ore. Make sure to interact with the Safe Storage and place the unnecessary items from the backpack in it. This allows you to make some space in your backpack and cook the recipes.

Interact with the Stove and add wood to ignite it. Cook the mushroom and consume it to gain +5 Food. I recommend you cook multiple mushroom recipes to consume them while you’re out of the cabin.

Interact with the Crafting Table and select the Nails from the Rope tab in the Crafting section. Use 1xIron Ingot to craft the Nails. Now, use the required materials to craft the Iron Knife. This weapon has more durability and attack power, meaning you can easily kill the enemy. I recommend you craft at least 2xIron Knife.

The fishing rod is also an essential tool to craft at the Crafting Table using the 1xStick, 1xRope, and 1xNail. This tool is used to catch the fish in the river that you can cook on the stove. Interact with the bed and sleep to gain energy and pass the time.

The Orb of Sorrow

Make your way out of the cabin and go to the backside of it. Keep moving in a straight direction, but there’s nothing to find. Make sure to collect the useful items like red berries and mushrooms on your way. Return to the cabin and open your quest menu. Click on ‘The Orb of Sorrow’ quest to find out your objectives.

Your objective is to reach the Hardware Store in the town in the North, find the basement, obtain the Orb of Sorrow, and return to the cabin. Make your way north from the Frozen Lake and locate the old Hardware Shop. Go to the marked waypoint on your map.

Repair the Northwest Bridge

Once you make your way to the marked waypoint (Northwest), you will find the broken bridge. Repairing the Northwest bridge requires 3xRope, 4xStone, 6xWood, and 4xStick.

Woods and Sticks can be obtained by cutting down the tree with an Axe. You can acquire the rocks by mining the nodes with the Stone Pickaxe. 2x Grass is required to craft a Rope at the crafting menu. Once you get the required materials in your backpack, interact with the Northwest Bridge. Allocate the materials to repair the Bridge to move to the other side.

Make your way back to the cabin, as it’s getting dark. Your Food, warmth, and energy level are low at this moment. Interact with the Stove and cook the mushrooms to consume them, replenishing the food bar. While you’re cooking the mushrooms, you also gain the Warmth.

Pass through the Northwest Bridge

Approach the bed and interact with it to set the sleep duration to gain energy and pass the time. Make your way back to the Norwest Bridge and pass through it to get to the other side of the area. You will notice that the trees here are different.

Get inside the Shelter

You will encounter the wolf here as you move forward. Equip the Iron Knife and start hitting this enemy to eliminate it. Block its attacks by pressing the RMB to avoid taking the damage. Open your map to find out the exact location of the hardware Store.

Continue moving to your destination using the marked waypoint till you find the small boats. Be aware of the wolf in front of you. Hold your weapon before moving in and start attacking the wolf till it dies. Killing the wolf allows you to obtain the Raw Wolf Meat and Wolf Fur.

Get Inside Hardware Store

Get inside the first cabin and collect the Mysterious Journal. Collect the Note for the Table on the right. Make your way out of the cabin. Make your way back to where you came, but just a little to the left. Collect the sticks and mushrooms on your way.  Keep moving, and you will come across the new area. You will encounter a wolf here, so use the Iron Knife to defeat it.

The weather here is cold, and your warmth level gets low very quickly. You need to warm up near a fire to gain warmth. Interact with the car’s truck to acquire the Metal Part and get inside the Hardware Store.

Investigate the Hardware Store

Approach the counter in front of you to collect the Notes. Move to the left side of the room to obtain the Snow Hat. Wearing this hat allows the food to replenish more hunger (+30%). Take the stairs on your right to go down.

Interact with the Fuse Box after getting down and use the Fuse to repair it to turn on the lights. If you don’t have the Fuse, you can use the Torch to explore this room. You can find the Painkiller and Stone Pickaxe from the boxes in this area.

Obtain the Orb of Sorrow

Take the stairs back to move up and get out of the Hardware Store. Search the car on the right to obtain the Fuse and a Metal Part. Make your way back to the Hardware Store and repair the Fuse box in the basement.

Once you repair it, the enemy will rush towards you and hit you with a massive attack. Equip your Iron Knife and start dealing damage to the enemy till it dies. Defeating this enemy will drop an Orb of Sorrow. Make sure to collect it and get out of the Hardware Store.

Just on the right side of the Hardware Store, there’s a small area. Get inside this area and collect the notes. Make your way back to the main cabin. Your energy, warmth, and food level will be too low. Make sure to consume the recipe that you made earlier to gain food level and craft the campfire to gain warmth.

Pass through the Northwest bridge and get to your cabin. Interact with the Old Radio, and an unknown entity will attack the cabin.

Interact with the hollow in the wall and exhaust all the dialogues. This will conclude the Angst: A Tale of Survival Walkthrough Part 2.
