Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for the last three chapters and ending of Aphelion.
Aphelion is a narrative-focused space adventure where you play as two protagonists journeying through the harsh environments of Persephone. The visuals and sound design really make Persephone feel so alien, almost like you’re exploring something that you’re not supposed to. This is our final walkthrough piece for Aphelion, which covers the last three chapters of the main story, including Reunion, The Styx, and The Source, after which you’ll finally get to experience the ending.

Chapter 9: Reunion
Start your journey with Ariane as she tries to finally reach Thomas in this chapter. Slide down the cliff and jump across to enter the base. Keep heading straight inside the base and crawl through the debris at the end.
Continue forward through the half-open door and take a left once you spot a blood trail on the floor. Move down the stairs at the end and enter the medical bay right in front of you.
Enter the room with the bed where Thomas scanned himself in Chapter 8 to trigger a cutscene.
Heading To The Nexus
After the cutscene, make your way out of the medical bay and go through the door on your left. Squeeze through the narrow passage here. Keep following the linear path ahead and jump over the crate on your right at the end.
Head down the stairs and make a few jumps to reach the bottom. Move down the next set of stairs and head right as soon as you descend. You’ll find a ledge at the end, which allows you to go further down.
Descend and slowly walk across the thin bridge in front of you to get to the other side. Climb the ledges here to get atop the cliff and then use the winch point at the top to descend.
Head further down and then move to your right to find another winch point. Use your winch here to lower the bridge that allows you to progress. Head inside the building here and interact with Domenica’s body.Â
Take the exit right next to the left side of the body and get out of the building. You’ll find a winch point right in front as you leave. Use your winch here to descend and slide down the path on your left after reaching the bottom.
Nemesis Encounter
Nemesis is waiting for you after the sliding section. Start by triggering the anomaly in front of you using the EM scanner to get the enemy’s attention. Once it’s baited, take the path on your right and climb over the barriers.
Slowly walk over the narrow passage on your left next. Nemesis will block your path on the other side here. Do not worry, as there is an anomaly behind the tank which you can trigger using your EM scanner. Once Nemesis is distracted, continue through the path it was blocking.
Use the ledges on your right to get over the gaps in front of you. After dropping down, take the right path first over the barrier to find another anomaly, which you can use to bait Nemesis.
Once you bait Nemesis, go back over the barrier and take the path on your left this time. Squeeze through the tight area at the end of this path. Use the winch on your left to jump to the other side of the platform.
Continue moving straight ahead and take a right at the end. Nemesis blocks your path here again, so take out your EM scanner and point it right in front. Use the anomaly to distract the enemy and start heading straight ahead by jumping over the gap.
Once you reach a dead end, take a U-turn and go right. Use the anomaly to distract Nemesis once more and continue on the road on your right. You will arrive near a ladder at the end that allows you to get to the nexus.
Take the stairs to reach the bottom and jump over the gaps where the stairs are broken. You’ll need to utilize ledges and winch points here to climb down as well.Â
Finding Thomas
After you get to the bottom, use the stairs to progress. Take the path on your left and then use the next set of stairs to ascend to the machine that Thomas had destroyed.Â
Interact with the computer here to get clues about Thomas’ whereabouts. Lastly, move down the stairs on the left side of the machine to trigger an important cutscene in the story, which also marks the end of the Reunion chapter in Aphelion.
Chapter 10: The Styx
Once the cutscene ends, your next objective is to follow Thomas’ mirage or his electromagnetic shadow. Jump down into the water using the ledges on your right side at the end of the path and squeeze through the tight hole in front to keep following Thomas.
Continue moving straight ahead and jump to the right side at the end. Drop down when you reach a dead end on this path to spot an anomaly root on your right. Use your EM scanner and match frequency as shown in the image above to fix the root.
After fixing the root, go back up and jump to the right side to find the anomaly itself. Use your EM scanner here once more to destroy the anomaly and break the wall.
Run through the newly opened path and keep following the linear path ahead. Slide over the narrow rocky road on your left side to progress.
Next, use the boulders on your right to get across the river. Climb back up to the top and walk slowly over the narrow ledge to get to the other side.
Use the ledges and the winch point on the other side to get to the top. Continue ahead and point your EM scanner at the crystal at the end. Use it to destroy the anomaly so that another winch point becomes available. Deploy your winch here to get over the large gap.
You’ll find a narrow path that you can squeeze through on your left side. Continue through this section and use the ledges and winch point on the other side to reach the water down below.
Keep following the path ahead by using the rocks near the bottom to ascend. Take a right next to spot some ledges which will help you get even higher. Slide down through the path on your left and crawl through the hole at the end after climbing up top.
Following Thomas’ Mirage
Head down and left after crawling out of the hole, and you should spot some ledges below. Utilize these ledges to get to the right side of the cliff.Â
Drop down on the rocky platform in the river next, and use your winch on the left side to destroy the barrier. Go through the newly opened passage and stick to the linear path ahead, while using your winch in between.
There is another winch point at the end that allows you to descend further to the bottom. Use it to reach the rocky platform below you.
Once you drop down, you’ll find a body here. There is an anomaly on the right side of the body that you need to destroy using your EM scanner. This frees up another winch point and allows you to continue your descent.
Drop down on the final rocky platform below and continue heading straight to find Thomas’ mirage again. You’ll arrive in a kind of hub area with some laptops and machines. Go straight ahead first, near the edge, to spot Thomas again.
Then come back and use your winch on the winch point next to the suitcase. This opens up the path for you to progress.
Crawl through the newly opened hole and make your way to the other side. Take the path on your right next and continue heading straight. You’ll arrive at another hub point, but you need to follow Thomas to the edge again first.
Make your way back near the laptops and use your winch on the barrier here to unblock the road. Squeeze through the narrow gap ahead to progress.
Nemesis Makes A Return
The all-hearing enemy strikes again, and you need to play all stealthily. Continue forward and turn left to spot an anomaly with your EM scanner. Match the frequency as shown in the image above to proceed.
Use the ledges on the other side to descend and then slide through the narrow passage ahead. Continue ahead, but stop when you spot water. Take your EM scanner out and use the anomaly on your right to distract Nemesis before you move through the water.
Drop down and use your EM scanner again to trigger the anomaly in front of you. After baiting Nemesis, take a U-turn and start moving rightwards.
Use the winch point at the end to jump over the large gap and reach the other side. Once you make this jump, make sure to use the anomaly on your right to distract the enemy one more time.
Next, use the ledges on the right side to ascend to the top here. Head further right after climbing the ledges to spot a winch point. Use this winch point to ascend even further.Â
There is another winch point at the top that allows you to jump across a ditch. Once you reach a dead end on the other side, take out your EM scanner to spot and fix the anomaly root here.Â
After fixing the root, take a U-turn and slide down the path on your right. Take another right after getting down and destroy the anomaly here to create a bridge that allows you to go further.
Jump down into the water on your right after you get to the other side. At this point, Nemesis will start chasing you, so you need to sprint to escape.
Make sure to jump over the obstacles in your path and jump onto the ledges after sliding at the end.
Use the winch point here to descend and grab the next set of ledges on your left. Keep climbing these ledges to descend to the river below. Run through the river, and squeeze along the tight walls at the end to encounter Nemesis again.
Stealthily, move straight ahead, jump down, and use the crystal in front of you as a winch point to descend. Go right next and jump onto the ledges here. Drop down near the water.
Before stepping foot in the water, take your EM scanner out and use the anomaly in front of you as bait. Once Nemesis is baited, walk through the water and take the right path. There are ledges at the end that you can use to get to the left side.
As you get to the left side, take your EM scanner out and scan another anomaly in front of you to distract the enemy again. Then move through the water and climb up the platform on your right side.
Once you reach the top of the platform, trigger the same anomaly again to bait Nemesis. Then jump down, head straight, and climb up the ridge on your left.
At the top, you’ll find a winch point. But before you grapple, take out your EM scanner and match the frequency as shown in the image above to destroy an anomaly. You can bait Nemesis again using the distraction anomaly on your left side as well.
Once the path gets cleared, use your winch to get to the other side. Continue climbing using the ledges ahead. Keep following the straight path ahead and take a right at the end. Squeeze through another small passageway here as well.
Jump on the platforms on your left to reach the ledges in front of you. Climb to the top and use your winch at the end to break the barrier. Go through the newly opened route and slide your way down.
Nemesis will start hunting you again at this point, so you’ll need to sprint again. Continue to run forward and make sure to jump over the gaps and obstacles in your way.Â
A cutscene plays at the end of this chase, after which you’ll find yourself sliding down with the water. Just move Ariane left or right in this section to protect her from the rocks in your path.
A cutscene plays at the end, which is the final cutscene of The Styx chapter in Aphelion.
Chapter 11: The Source
The final chapter in Aphelion has just begun, and you’re close to the ending now. Continue to move straight ahead once Ariane wakes up at the start of this chapter. Use the ledges at the end to climb up.
Go inside the source here, which is the golden pond in front of you. Nemesis won’t be able to damage Ariane while she’s inside the source. There is an anomaly that you need to destroy right in front and a little to the left of your current position. Open your EM scanner to destroy the anomaly and clear the path ahead.
Destroying The First Pulse Machine
Keep heading through this new path and use the ledges at the end to descend. Continue following the linear path ahead and take a right at the end to use the raised rocky platforms to ascend. Reach the top and use the ledges at the end to climb even further up.
Nemesis spots you after you drop down from the ledges. Start sprinting again, jump over the gaps and obstacles, and stick to the linear passage. You’ll arrive at more ledges, which you’ll need to climb to progress.Â
Use the ledges to go down in this section. You will find icy platforms behind you, which must be used as jumping points to get across the water. Sprint and jump through the icy platforms, and Nemesis will still be attacking you.
Use the ledges at the end to ascend. Once you climb up, wait for Nemesis’ aggro to calm down and then slowly start moving ahead. Keep heading straight, and you’ll arrive near a circular machine. Use your winch on this machine to destroy it.
Another running section starts once you destroy the machine. Keep moving Ariane left or right to dodge any obstacles and run straight down to get inside the source, where you’ll be safe from Nemesis.
Destroying The Second Pulse Machine
From the source, take the path on your right this time to reach the second machine. As you start going down, look back and take your EM scanner out to spot an anomaly, which you can use to bait Nemesis.
Once the enemy is baited, make your way down and towards the right side to get across the water. There is an anomaly that you need to destroy using your EM scanner to clear the road ahead.
Keep heading straight until you see water again. Before going through the water on your left, equip your EM scanner and use it on the distracting anomaly on your right side.
As the enemy is baited, you can safely go through the water now.
Continue following the linear path ahead. Before crossing the second body of water, look back and trigger the anomaly once more so that you can safely traverse.
When you spot the next water section on your left, use your EM scanner first again. Trigger the anomaly and then start progressing through the water.
Stick to the straight path ahead, and you’ll reach the second machine at the top. Use your winch here to destroy this machine as well. After destroying the machine, start running down again to reach the source and take shelter from Nemesis.
Destroying The Third Pulse Machine
Turn around inside the source, towards the opposite side of the first two machines. Then take the path on your left to reach the third pulse machine in this section.
Climb up the ledges and use your EM scanner at the top to destroy an anomaly and build a bridge that allows you to get across. Make sure to do everything stealthily.
Wait for Nemesis to move out of your way and continue following the path on your right. Make a jump at the end to reach the third machine and use your winch here to destroy it as well.
The final cutscene of the story starts playing after this, which shows you the ending of the story in Aphelion.
