If you’ve been enjoying Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora like I have and been waiting impatiently for the new expansion From the Ashes, then oh boy, you’re in for a treat.
While some might like this, others will not, but this time around, you don’t play as your Na’vi from the base game. The expansion lets you play as So’lek and the whole gameplay on the dlc is quite unique which brings some fresh content.
With that being said, welcome to our walkthrough of the prologue part of the From the Ashes expansion, and we hope you enjoy it.

From The Ashes Expansion Beginning

After you download and install the expansion, open the game, and you will be greeted with a notification that shows you how you can access From the Ashes.
Unlike the previous two expansion ones, where you can carry on with your character and items, this one, however, operates differently.
A new option on the bottom left corner of the menu will be available. This will allow you to pick the From the Ashes expansion and start it from there.

In case you haven’t played the base game in a while, which is probably the case because the game has been out for two years now, don’t worry about it.
You will get a Story So Far cutscene, which will keep you up with everything so you’ll be DLC-ready.
Memories From The Past

After the cutscene completes, you will be able to control a Na’vi. At first, you may not recognize who he is, but that’s So’lek. Simply progress ahead as Ri’nela continues to narrate the story.
Shortly after, you will be able to see your Ikran alongside the beautiful scenery of the Hallelujah Mountains. So’lek will call his Ikran and fly around the mountains.
The year is 2154, and the battle between the Trr’ong clan and the RDA begins. The Na’vi hide with their Ikran on the mountains while many RDA flying planes move toward them.

As you ride your Ikran, you will have to defeat any flying RDA planes. Use slow motion after you aim to shoot precise arrows and target the thrusters.
After the battle in the sky, So’lek will jump to push the pilot of one of the RDA planes. Here, a transition will take place, returning you to the present time, 2170, where So’lek is angry, punching the last RDA from the battle sixteen years ago.

The surprise here is that you will meet Sarentu, who is basically your character from the base game, and you will need to make your way out of the facility.
The Last Dog Tag Quest

Follow Sarentu through the rubble of the outpost. Eventually, you will come across a locked door, but Sarentu is here to help. He will use his SID to hack and open the door.
Exit this room and keep progressing forward until you stumble upon a broken bridge, but that’s an issue for the Na’vi. Use your charge jump to make it to the other side and then go through the door ahead.

At the next door, Sarentu will try to open it using SID, and you will be able to spot an AMP Assault on guard. Don’t worry, you can take it down easily using your finishing move.
The AMP Assault is just the first enemy here, so as soon as you kill it, the others will come through the hallway. You can either take cover on the right side or blaze your way through them.
Either way, you have all available weapons to use if you pick the latter option.
Exit The Outpost

After you deal with all the enemies, keep making your way ahead, but you will encounter more enemies, so be prepared. You still have the choice to either sneak in quietly or just kill them, so feel free to do whatever you like.
Use your Na’vi senses constantly to keep an eye out for the RDA, because your senses can highlight all enemies, even from behind walls.
After you reach the exit of the outpost, another wave of enemies will be waiting for you, so make sure you deal with them.
Now that you are finally outside of the outpost, call your Ikran and fly away to make your way home.

After you make your way back home, and So’lek realizes that he took revenge on every RDA member during the Hallelujah Mountains battles, he gives up on the dog tag chain and burns it, meaning he has moved on.
Welcome Home Quest

After you reflect, Sarentu will visit you and push you to go to Hometree with him to visit Ri’nela and the other Na’vi.
So’lek’s stubbornness is no match for Sarentu, so he will tease you by telling you that you chickened out of a flight race and that you will lose. Naturally, this gets your attention, and you’ll end up going.
The flight race will be a great tutorial and refresher for you on how to fly your Ikran properly because you will need it to traverse the land quickly.

After you reach the destination, you will be able to meet the Sarentu family, Teylan, and Ri’nela. After a short conversation, you will be able to make your way inside Hometree.
Follow them to reach the top floor. Here, you will meet the Na’vi traders who made their way from a distance, although they bear bad news.

Ya’fatar, one of the traders, will mention some smoke coming from the forest edge, which is unusual. Your first instinct is the Sky People, aka the RDA, so you will have to investigate.
You and Sarentu will take matters into your own hands and investigate to get to the bottom of this.
Ash On The Wind Quest

You will get a marker on your map showing where you can go, so exit Hometree and call your Ikran. Fly your way there, and you will be able to spot smoke and a fallen tree.
Follow the signs ahead until you make your way to a destroyed Weaver camp. In this Na’vi camp, you will need to investigate to learn more about what’s happening.

There are three items that you can interact with: the tied direhorse with ropes, the sleep nook to the left, and the baskets near the rock.
Investigate all three items in order to learn about what happened, but it won’t be enough because this seems like a new threat.
More smoke will be ahead of you, so call your Ikran and fly your way there. You will come across a weird symbol, and you will have to call Teylan to see if he knows anything about what’s happening.
Follow The Smoke Tail

Teylan mentions that there is an RDA channel from the TAP facility where Sarentu used to live a long time ago. The Sarentu will go to the TAP facility first, while you, So’lek, will need to continue following the burn trail.
RDA is indeed behind this, as you will come across a small patrol of them. You need to defeat them all, either by being sneaky using your bow and headshoting or taking down each of them, or by blazing your way in using the RDA guns.
Either way, after defeating them, make your way to the next objective, where you will see the same symbol from before, raising more questions.
From this distance, you will see more smoke coming out of the old Resistance HQ, so you go there to investigate.

Jump down to the facility, and the first thing you will spot is a tied feral, similar to the way the previous direhorse was at the camp. The next thing you will investigate is the human weapons.
It seems that the RDA has been using this place in silence, but during your investigation, you will hear them coming. The exit door will open, but you will be exposed to many RDA, so take it easy here.
After you finish dealing with the RDA, it’s time to head to the TAP facility and reunite with Sarentu to investigate there further.
Investiage The TAP Facility

Once you and Sarentu are inside, the door will be blocked by vines, so you need to melee it. Progress ahead and keep following the objective marker.
Eventually, you will reach a dead end where the door is locked, and SID is not working. This is because you need to turn the power back on.
The maintenance room is across the way, but the path is ruined. Simply dive into the water and make it to the other side until you reach the room.

Here, turn on the power by interacting with the panel and make your way back to Sarentu. Keep following the straightforward path until you reach Mercer’s office.
Here, a cutscene will play with a twist. SPOILER ALERT: You will be attacked by some odd-looking Na’vi.
The Plot Twist

It seems that the Mangkwan clan teamed up with the RDA in order to destroy Pandora and seize control over it.
The cutscene will show what looks like a new villain, Major Bukowski, speaking to the two Na’vi and trying to identify them while being helped by Mangkwan Na’vi.
This is a bad situation, and they will kidnap Sarentu. However, So’lek tries to rescue him in a foolish attempt and ends up getting thrown down.
The fall takes a hold on So’lek, and after 24 hours, he wakes up really weak. You take control of him again and try to escape from the facility.

You call your Ikran and hold tight as it takes you to your home with your weakened body. As soon as you reach home, you heal yourself and recover before preparing to take on revenge.
This is where the prologue of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From The Ashes expansion ends, and you will be able to explore the map, fight the RDA, and help reunite the Na’vi.
