Beast Of Reincarnation Walkthrough – Chapter 1: Seedling (Part 2)

Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Beast of Reincarnation, covering Chapter 1: Seedling, Part 2.

After Emma had her first encounter with the Nushi spreading the blight in Ogouchi, it managed to escape and retreat back to its lair.

Emma and Koo need to track down the lair and finish off the Nushi so they can move on to the next zone.

Malefact Hunt

After making the necessary preparations at the Cleanse Walker, interact with the bed so Emma can rest. Before she goes to bed, she takes a good look at Koo, which triggers a flashback.

This is long before Emma met Koo and when she was still living in a small house just outside the Capital. You see a Golem accompanied by a little girl heading toward her house.

The knocking wakes Emma, and the Golem informs her about her mission to defeat two Pale Malefacts deep in the forest. Without hesitation, Emma sets out for the job.

The path is straightforward here, so follow it until you come across some Corrupted Golems in a round area. Defeat all of them, then continue ahead, and you will come across another Golem.

You can crouch and sneak through the red flowers to reach him and perform an assassination that will one-shot him. This can be used when there are only a few enemies that are not aware of your position.

Continue further into the forest. Eventually, Violet notices that there is a Biwafruit, and she suggests that Emma take it and trade it once she’s back at the Capital.

Just as Emma is picking up the fruit, a Pale Malefact Shiba comes up behind her aggressively. Yes, this is Koo, but it’s before they met. Just as they lock eyes with each other, the Shiba starts howling.

This causes Emma to hear a strange voice inside her head, almost like a memory or a message. The second she regains consciousness, the Pale Shiba has already left.

Track Down The Pale Malefact

Given this strange encounter, Violet encourages Emma to track down the mysterious Shiba in order to get some answers. The path is straightforward, so simply follow it.

You will notice that the Shiba is injured because it got into a fight with a Malefact. As soon as the Shiba runs away, the Malefact will spawn, and you need to defeat it.

You will get a small tutorial on how to perform a perfect dodge against a red attack, then follow up with a counterattack to build up the stagger meter.

After you defeat the Malefact, progress forward, and you will come across a large tree with a Pale Malefact fused with the blighted tree, and it is already dead.

Nearby, you will see the injured Shiba breathing heavily. Emma approaches him slowly, and this triggers the Shiba. He quickly attacks Emma, causing her to hear the strange voice once again.

This time, the voice seems to recognize the Shiba, named Koo, and commands him not to kill her. Koo surrenders and falls to the ground exhausted.

Violet urges Emma not to forget her mission and reminds her that she needs to finish it. As expected, Emma doesn’t do that. Instead, she takes the injured Shiba back to her house and treats his wounds.

The flashback ends as Emma wakes up the next day and notices that the Shiba has recovered and headed back into the forest.

How Rapport Works

Back in the present, you will learn about Rapport. Rapport is basically your relationship with Koo and a few other NPCs later on. You can increase it by talking to them and doing certain favors for them.

With Koo specifically, you can pet him, feed him treats, and fight alongside him in battle, and this builds up your Rapport as you go along. The higher the Rapport, the more skill slots become available to use.

You can only pet Koo at the Cleanse Walker, and if you have any treats or food in your Battle Pack, you can do so at any campsite.

After you’re done making preparations, upgrading your attributes and gear, or acquiring new skills, head to bed and rest until the next day when Emma needs to track down the Nushi’s lair.

When you’re done, exit the Cleanse Walker and return to the Ogouchi Buffer Zone.

Head To Subcity 03

Brad tracks down the Nushi’s lair, and the only way to reach it is through a nearby Subcity entrance. You need to head there.

The Subcity 03 entrance is just above the arena where you fought the Nushi for the first time. Fast travel to the Cliff-Facing Tower campsite and make your way there.

As you approach the entrance, you will find a strongbox, but there is also a Rusted Golem calling out to you. Speak to him, and it seems he does not want anything from you. He simply wanted to have one final conversation.

In addition to that, he offers Emma the Recovery Tonic (S) Manual. You can use this item to restore a small portion of your health, and it can be replenished whenever you rest at a campsite.

When you’re done with the Golem, interact with the mechanism to open the entrance to Subcity 03 and progress down.

As you reach the bottom, you will find a campsite. Activate it first. To your left, you will notice a locked door that Emma can’t open.

All of a sudden, the retired Gatekeeper Golem starts talking. He confirms that the Nushi’s lair is indeed behind this door, but the only way to open it is by finding the Red, Blue, and Yellow Keys.

The Gatekeeper has the Red Key and offers it to you, but for the other two, you will need to find their owners. He kindly pinpoints their locations on your map. In addition to that, you will be able to pick up a new sword near the campsite.

Before you set out to search for the other two keys, if you remember the locked door back at the abandoned village that required the Red Key, you can now return there and unlock it. Inside, you will find a strongbox.

Obtain The Blue Key

The Blue Key is located just east of the Subcity 03 entrance. From a distance, you will be able to see red smoke coming from the high platform.

Make your way there using Emma’s hair. At the top, you will find a purple item near a dead Golem. This is the Blue Key.

Obtain The Yellow Key

The Yellow Key is located at the very east of the map. Make your way there, and you will find a bridge leading to a cave. Go inside and prepare to face an elite enemy.

This is just a stronger version of the Grizzly Malefact, so you already know most of its attacks by now. Remember that it is weak to Fire, so take it easy, use Koo’s abilities, and don’t get greedy.

Once you defeat the elite enemy, it drops the Tailwater Key, which unlocks the secret room inside the cave. Unlock the door and head inside. You will find a few valuables that you can loot.

Most importantly, there is another Golem here. Speak to him, and he will give you the Yellow Key. With all three keys obtained, you’d think you can go directly to the Nushi’s lair, but not yet.

Back At The Cleanse Walker

Brad reports that Kagura, the little girl traveling with you, has finally woken up. Naturally, Emma needs to check on her, so head back to the Cleanse Walker. You can simply fast travel there.

At the Cleanse Walker, speak to Kagura to trigger another flashback showing the day you first met her.

Meet Kagura

The flashback continues from the time Emma helped Koo before he left the following day. Since Emma needs to make her report, Violet advises her against telling the whole story about saving a Malefact.

Emma leaves the house and begins her journey to the colony to try and trade the Biwafruit, while Violet tries to hide the truth.

At the entrance, a Guard Golem stops you and asks your purpose. Emma shows him the Biwafruit, and he grants her passage.

Inside, head all the way to the top and turn left to find the Apothecary. Interact with him and try to sell the Biwafruit, but he offers a very cheap price. Violet advises against accepting his offer.

Head back down, and you will see a Golem scolding a little girl. Violet recognizes her as the girl who brings Emma food every time the Golems send her on missions.

Emma decides to give the Biwafruit to her free of charge. The little girl heads back inside, and Emma returns to her house.

Shortly afterward, Emma hears a knock on her door. It’s the little girl from earlier. Her name is Kagura, and she brings a message that the colony has called for Emma, but she also wanted to thank her for her kindness.

Head To The Colony

As Emma makes her way toward the colony, there are a few Corrupted Golems to defeat along the way. Nothing major, just basic enemies.

A sudden noise of something heavy walking outside the colony catches her attention, and she decides to investigate.

Using her hair to reach the higher ground, Emma notices several Cleanse Walkers bearing the Capital’s emblem making their way toward the colony.

Emma hurries over and finds Overseer Shuri waiting for her arrival. The Overseer has orders for Emma directly from the Administrator.

The Administrator’s order is for Emma to eliminate the Beast of Reincarnation. Oh, wait, that’s the game’s title. The beast itself is making its way toward the Capital once again.

This is a pattern that repeats every 100 years. This undying creature returns, and this time, it seems that only Emma, known as the Sealer, can defeat it.

In every region there is a Nushi residing. Emma must defeat each one and absorb its power. Then, at the end of her mission, she must return to the Capital and defeat the Beast of Reincarnation.

Just as the Administrator’s message ends, a giant Malefact attacks the colony. Kagura is there, terrified, so Emma takes her hand and tries to escape from the beast.

Despite their efforts to escape, the Malefact catches up to them and knocks them both down. To your surprise, Koo returns the favor and comes back to help Emma.

But what can a small Malefact do against such a beast? Koo uses his powers to connect with Emma’s hair and bring her back to life. Together, they decide to fight against the Malefact. This is their first battle together!

Defeat The Nue Malefact

The Nue Malefact is a level 16 boss fight, and it moves around the arena a lot. Thankfully, it doesn’t have that many attacks, so it should be easy to memorize its patterns.

The Nue Malefact will occasionally call down lightning across the arena. Since these strikes cannot be blocked, watch the glowing areas on the ground and quickly move away before they are struck.

Another attack to watch out for is when the Nue Malefact spins around, swinging its tail twice. After the first spin, the boss makes a small hop before following up with the second swing.

If you time your parry correctly, this is a great opportunity to gain FP. Otherwise, you can simply dodge.

If you stay too close to the Nue Malefact, it may suddenly lash out with one of its claws. Watch for its arm pulling back, then either parry at the right moment or dodge to avoid taking the hit.

You can use Koo’s abilities here just like normal, and we recommend using Bind to immobilize the enemy and get in some easy attacks.

During this fight, you will unlock Entanglement Override. As the Entanglement bar drains, time slows down, and Emma attacks much faster without interruption, so make sure to take advantage of it.

Just as you’re about to finish off the Malefact, it hears a strange noise, almost like something is calling it back. This distracts the enemy, and a Cleanse Walker arrives to save Emma.

As the Cleanse Walker departs, a mysterious man is shown standing on top of a building watching over everything.

The only thing we know about him is that he is the same man from the prologue, so we can expect to encounter him again.

With Kagura now awake in the present, she will be able to cook meals that grant buffs to your stats. In addition to that, you will be able to grow your own plants and use the incubator in the back room.

This also unlocks Rapport with Kagura, which you can increase to improve her culinary skills. Make sure you also prepare yourself before tracking down the Nushi’s lair.

Defeat The Nushi Rangifer (Second Encounter)

With all three keys in hand, head back to Subcity 03 and unlock the door there. Continue forward and climb up to the nearby campsite.

Activate the campsite before moving on. You will also find a merchant nearby who sells a variety of useful items. If you have enough Amber, make sure to buy all of the manuals before continuing.

Once you are ready, make your way to the top to face the Nushi Rangifer once again. Although this battle follows the same pattern as your first encounter, Rangifer has learned a few new tricks and now features a second phase.

It is still weak to Fire, so Fire Arrows and Koo’s Fire abilities remain some of the best ways to deal extra damage throughout the fight.

For the most part, you should continue looking for opportunities to parry its close-range attacks, especially the antler swings, as they are still one of the easiest ways to build FP for Koo’s abilities.

Just be careful not to become too aggressive, since the boss now has several unblockable attacks that can quickly punish you.

Whenever you see Rangifer slam its head into the ground, immediately look around the arena and keep moving. Trees will burst from the earth wherever the red warning markers appear, so continue moving until the attack ends.

It can also leap high into the air before crashing down with glowing hooves. Instead of trying to block the impact, simply dodge as it lands.

Another attack to watch for is when Rangifer surrounds itself with a red aura. This signals a lengthy combo that ends with an unblockable slam. Your best option is to back away and wait for the entire sequence to finish.

If Rangifer drives its antlers into the ground, prepare for a volley of rocks to come flying your way. Dodge to either side to avoid the attack completely.

It may also fire sharp spikes from its body while you are at a distance, so keep moving whenever you see it preparing the attack.

Once the boss enters its second phase, its appearance changes, but the fight itself remains largely the same. The biggest difference is that it can now stop to recover its health.

When this happens, several trees will grow around the arena, giving you grapple points to quickly reach the boss. Close the distance immediately and interrupt the healing before it restores too much health.

The Nushi Has Been Defeated

After Emma, and Koo of course, successfully defeat the Nushi, she absorbs its power, which adds a new flower to her hair. This causes both Emma and Koo to collapse.

To our surprise, while they are unconscious, the mysterious man and his Malefact, which is the Nue Malefact from the flashback, come across their bodies. No harm is done, and they simply continue on their way.

Back At The Cleanse Walker

Emma wakes up to find herself back at the Cleanse Walker. We have no idea who brought them back, but they are safe. Kagura and Brad check on her as soon as she wakes up.

We finally get to see Brad without his mask, as he is impressed by Emma’s work. He suggests that she take some time to rest before setting out for the next zone.

During this time, you can interact with Kagura and Koo, check on your plants, upgrade your attributes and stats, and head to bed and sleep whenever you’re ready.

Chapter 1 End

Before the chapter comes to an end, a mysterious cutscene shows Violet awakening in an unknown place after hearing a strange voice calling out to her.

As she follows the voice, a brilliant light appears high in the sky and begins speaking to her. Just as the figure is about to reveal its identity, it finally introduces itself as the Beast of Reincarnation, bringing the chapter to a dramatic cliffhanger.
