Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Beast of Reincarnation, covering Chapter 2: Creeping Tendrils.
After Emma defeated her very first Nushi at the Ogouchi Buffer Zone, she and Koo collapsed as they both absorbed this new power.
Thankfully, Brad managed to get her back to the Cleanse Walker, and after some good rest, they depart for the next zone, the Ancient Civilization Zone.

Progress Through The Ancient Civilization Zone

After you reach the Ancient Civilization Zone, exit the Cleanse Walker. The path from here is pretty straightforward, with Malefacts along the way.
You will eventually reach a dead end. To the right, you will see some platforms that you can use Emma’s hair to climb up and cross to the other side. Take the stairs up, and you will find a shrine to your right.

Interact with the shrine to increase your Stimpack Limit by one, bringing the total to four. From here on, you will encounter many of these shrines as you explore, but not all of them will increase your Stimpack Limit.

You will need to collect 10 Favors from different shrines to gain another +1 increase to your Stimpack Limit.
Moving on, you can extend Emma’s hair to reach the platform with the campsite on the other side. Rest here before moving forward.

The gate ahead is blocked, and you need to find the control panel to unlock it. If you look up, you will see arrows on the wall pointing toward its location. It is in the room at the top left.

Make your way there using Emma’s hair and interact with the control panel. This unlocks the gate, allowing you to continue.
Once again, your luck runs out, as the next gate on the right side is also locked, and you need to find another way to unlock it.
Unlock The Gate

Climb up north and slide down until you reach the elevator. Use it to descend into the underground ruins. Once you arrive, head down one floor and you will find an ancient Golem.

Speak to it, and Emma asks about a way to unlock the gate. The Golem explains that the control panel is in the reservoir, but you first need to activate two generators to restore power and unlock the path to the reservoir.

After finishing the conversation, you can interact with the Golem again and browse its shop if you want to buy anything.
Supply Power To The Gate
First Generator

We recommend starting with the generator to the west since it is the closest. Take the stairs up and ride the elevator down.

The generator is located at the end of this path, but it is guarded by several enemies. Defeat them first, then activate the generator to supply power to the gate.

Instead of backtracking, there is an elevator to the left of the generator that takes you back to the gate level.

From here, head north and activate the campsite before moving forward. Cross to the other side using Emma’s hair and go through the door.

At the top of the stairs, you will find another campsite where you can rest if needed. Drop down, and you will see a giant Golem. Be prepared to fight it as soon as you try to leave the room.
Defeat The Giant Golem

The Giant Golem is fairly easy to defeat. One of its attacks has it opening the shield on its back, exposing a glowing eye that charges a laser. Wait for the red flash to finish, then dodge to either side to avoid it.
It can also fire laser attacks from the red eye on its front. These are actually easy to parry and are a great way to gain FP for Koo.

The Golem also uses extendable arms to throw punches and has an unblockable attack where it throws rocks at you.
Keep in mind that it is weak to Lightning, so Koo’s Javelin and other Lightning attacks are especially effective against it.
Meet Kunai

After Emma defeats the Golem, she exits the room, but what she does not realize is that it is still alive. Just as it attempts to attack her from behind, a sword slash cuts off its arm and finishes it off.
A new character named Kunai is introduced. She recognizes Emma as the Purifier destined to face the Beast of Reincarnation, and it seems that she is also traveling toward the Capital.

Before leaving, she gives Emma her signal code so you can call her through the telephone at the Cleanse Walker. She also grants Emma a new Nushi Skill, Biting Tempest.
Second Generator

With the two now separated, you still need to activate the second generator. Exit the room and continue forward until you are stopped by several corrupted Golems. Defeat them to unlock the gate ahead.

From there, the path is fairly straightforward. Follow it until you reach the bottom floor, where the second generator is located at the end of the path.

Defeat the Malefacts guarding it and activate the generator. With both generators online, the gate leading to the reservoir opens, and you can take the nearby elevator back to the upper level.
Head To The Reservoir

With the power restored, interact with the switch to unlock the gate and continue toward the reservoir.
As soon as you enter, you will hear the Nushi roar, which comes as a surprise. Forget about the gate for now and head deeper into the reservoir to investigate.
Violet was right. A Nushi is indeed hiding within the reservoir, so prepare for battle.
Beat The Nushi Lacerta (First Encounter)

Lacerta is a level 13 boss that spends much of the fight swimming beneath the water, making its attacks difficult to predict.
While it is quick, look for opportunities to parry its bite attacks whenever possible to build FP for Koo’s abilities.
Whenever Lacerta’s mouth begins glowing red, mud spreads beneath Emma’s feet before spikes erupt from the ground. Dodge backward as soon as the mud appears to escape the area before the spikes emerge.

Lacerta may also dive beneath the water before suddenly leaping out with a bite. Parry or block the attack as soon as it emerges.

If the boss slowly approaches without diving underwater, it is usually preparing a three-hit bite combo. Time your parries or blocks until the entire sequence is finished.

Another attack to watch for is when Lacerta slowly twists its body to one side before following up with a tail swipe. Parry or block as the tail swings toward you.

Throughout the fight, Lacerta summons Salamandrine Malefacts around the arena. Defeat these enemies as quickly as possible before turning your attention back to the boss.

Since Lacerta is weak to Lightning, use Koo’s Javelin whenever possible. It can briefly stun the boss, giving you an opening to deal additional damage.

After you deplete the Nushi’s health bar, it escapes. Emma immediately gives chase, but just as she closes the distance, Lacerta disappears beneath the water and retreats to its lair.

Before leaving, use Emma’s hair to reach the mural on the opposite side, where you can obtain a new weapon.
Obtain The Lightning Stone

Back in the main reservoir room, head to the control room on the left and interact with the panel.
Unfortunately, the power is still out. If you speak to the nearby Golem, it explains that the control panel requires a Lightning Stone to function.

Koo picks up the scent of the stone and marks its location on your map, directing you back to the upper level.
As you leave the reservoir, you find a Golem fighting another human. The Golem is powerful, so Emma decides to step in.

The elite Golem uses a Lightning sword along with several slashing attacks that are easy to parry. Use Koo’s abilities and keep parrying its attacks to gain FP while avoiding unnecessary damage.

After defeating it, the Golem drops the Lightning Stone along with the Thunderwave Sword.
Meet Mikoto

Emma checks on the injured boy after the battle and discovers that his name is Mikoto. He was exploring the ruins in search of a special type of Amber that could help save his home.
Like Emma, Mikoto is blight-stained, granting him the unique ability to hear the voices of Malefacts.
After talking with him, Mikoto strengthens Emma’s powers, unlocking the upper section of the skill tree for additional modifications to Emma’s and Koo’s Nushi abilities.
Before leaving, Mikoto gives Emma his signal code so she can contact him later through the telephone. This also unlocks the ability to respec your skill points whenever you want.
Activate The Control Panel

After Mikoto leaves, return to the reservoir and insert the Lightning Stone into the control panel. This restores power and finally unlocks the gate at the surface.
Fortunately, you do not need to backtrack. A gate to the east of the reservoir is now open and provides a shortcut back to the surface.

Before leaving, there is a shrine to the left that you can interact with. Go through the gate, take the spiral staircase, then ride the elevator back to the surface.

You will arrive directly in front of the newly unlocked gate. This opens the eastern path leading toward the Nushi’s lair.
Head To The Nushi Lair

The path to the Nushi’s lair is fairly straightforward, although there are plenty of valuables, Strongboxes, and items to collect along the way, all of which Koo will highlight for you.
The most important collectible is the final shrine in this area. It is located at the southernmost point of the landmass on higher ground, which you can reach using Emma’s hair.

Take your time exploring, since most valuables are found on the higher platforms. When you’re ready, continue to the gate leading into the lair.

Before unlocking it, rest at the nearby campsite, spend your Attribute Points, invest your Skill Points, and upgrade the Thunderwave Sword, as it will be very useful for the upcoming fight.
Also, check the merchant’s shop near the campsite and purchase any manuals or Spirit Stones you may need. Once your preparations are complete, interact with the control panel, unlock the gate, and face the Nushi.
Defeat The Nushi Lacerta (Second Encounter)

Lacerta returns for a second encounter, but the overall strategy remains largely the same.
Continue looking for opportunities to parry its bite attacks to build FP for Koo’s abilities, but be prepared for several new attacks that make this battle much more dangerous.
If you need a reminder of its previous attacks, be sure to check the First Encounter section.

Whenever you notice a red glow beneath the water near your feet, Lacerta is about to burst out with an unblockable bite. Dodge as soon as the boss emerges to avoid taking heavy damage.
If Lacerta begins glowing red, it is preparing a five-hit combo consisting of four bites followed by a tail swipe.
Try to parry each attack, then wait for the final tail swipe before launching your own counterattack. This is one of the best opportunities to build FP for Koo’s abilities.

Since Lacerta remains weak to Lightning, continue using Koo’s Javelin whenever possible. In addition, the Thunderwave Sword is extremely effective.
This is because it builds up Shock, temporarily paralyzing the boss, interrupting its attacks, and creating openings for extra damage.
Second Phase

Once again, Lacerta refuses to go down easily. After losing its first health bar, it evolves and enters its second phase, gaining several poison-based attacks while the rest of the battle remains largely unchanged.
Whenever the boss creates poison clouds above its back, avoid using aerial attacks until the clouds disappear. Be prepared as well, since Lacerta often follows up with a bite immediately afterward.

If you move too far away, Lacerta may begin firing poison projectiles. You can parry, block, or simply stay close to reduce the chances of this attack being used.
Other than these additions, continue following the same strategy as before. Keep looking for parry opportunities and take advantage of Lacerta’s Lightning weakness.
The Nushi Has Been Defeated

After Emma and Koo successfully defeat the Nushi, Emma absorbs its power, just like before. Another flower is added to her hair, but the process once again causes both of them to collapse.
The next cutscene shows Violet sitting in a field of flowers, remembering the voice of the Beast of Reincarnation calling out to her.

Since we still know nothing about Violet’s past, we have no idea why this keeps happening. She assumes these are fragments of memories from her own life. Emma does not understand what is happening but remains by her side.
Back At The Cleanse Walker

Emma wakes up back at the Cleanse Walker. Kagura checks on her, worried about her condition, but Emma reassures everyone that she is fine with Koo by her side.
Brad instructs Emma to take some time to relax and prepare before traveling to the next zone and pursuing the next Nushi.

This is the perfect opportunity to use all of the facilities inside the Walker. Don’t forget to speak with Kagura and Koo to increase your Rapport with them. Whenever you are ready, interact with the bed and choose the Rest option.
Chapter 2 End

Before the chapter comes to an end, we see the mysterious male Purifier speaking with his Malefact. It appears that he can understand what it says, and even more surprisingly, the Malefact is actually his sibling.

From their brief conversation, it becomes clear that this Purifier is pursuing Emma and somehow wants to absorb her powers in order to restore his sibling to its original form, as both a human and a complete soul.

Immediately afterward, we once again see Violet communicating with the Beast of Reincarnation. The Beast appears to know exactly who Violet is.
The only information it reveals is that she is not from this world and that she was born in Shambhala. This brings the chapter to another dramatic cliffhanger.
