Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Beast of Reincarnation, covering Chapter 3: The Vessel.
Emma successfully defeated another Nushi and absorbed its power, but once again, this caused her and Koo to collapse because of the blight.
As always, Brad got them both back to the Cleanse Walker to recover and rest before moving on to the next zone, The Great Wall Terraces.

Speak To Violet

After Emma wakes up, she finds Violet in front of her. Emma proceeds to ask her about love, given Brad’s earlier words.
Since the Purifier does not have a soul, they lack emotions, making concepts like love, affection, and attachment feel completely foreign to her.
Enough conversation for now, you need to make any preparations you need before departing to the next zone. Along the way, Brad will pick up an imperial broadcast from the Administrator himself.
He acknowledges Emma’s efforts at cleansing a few regions, but this is just the beginning, and the threat still remains. This is just him reminding the Purifiers of their missions.
Progress Through The Great Wall Terraces

After you depart to the zone, the gate ahead is locked, but thankfully, the console to open it is just on the side. Interact with the console to unlock the gate.

Progress forward, and Brad will notice something strange. The Nushi signal just disappeared for a second before it came back. They suspect that there might be another person who is absorbing the Nushi.
Head To The Source Of The Signal

The signal came from beyond the slope there, and this is where Emma needs to go. Before you move to the objective marker, there are a few shrines that you can interact with.
The first shrine is situated on the edge of the westernmost coastal headland/peninsula, sitting just west of the main path. Check the map below for the exact location.

The second shrine is actually on the main path below where the gate is. Interact with the shrine.

There are a few other valuables and loot that you can obtain, so take your time exploring around. When you’re ready, head to the objective marker northeast.
You will come across an open area and a campsite just ahead. You know it’s time for a boss fight. Rest at the camp, upgrade any skills, and spend any attributes.

In addition to that, be sure to check the merchant store to your left. He has many new manuals that you can purchase using Amber.
When you’re done, head to the open area and, to your surprise, you will see the Nushi already defeated and its powers absorbed.

Shortly after, a Malefact will jump at you. You probably recognize it from the flashback back at the colony Ogouchi, where it attacked the city there.
Beat The Malefact Nue (First Encounter)

The Nue Malefact has a much larger moveset during this encounter, so stay patient and look for openings rather than trying to stay aggressive.
If the Nue Malefact begins glowing red, it will leap high into the air before landing with an unblockable stomp. Dodge as it comes back down to avoid the impact.

Another attack to watch for is a double tail swipe. The boss spins twice, with a short hop between the two attacks. Be ready to parry both attacks, unless you’re low, so retreating is the safest option.
The boss can also extend its tail toward you for an unblockable attack. Parry this attack as well, as it’s quite easy to do so.

Whenever the Nue Malefact fires thorn projectiles from its mouth, they will track your movement. You can parry or block them, but simply run to either side to avoid the projectiles without taking any risks.
The Nue Malefact can also call down Lightning strikes that follow your movement. Stay out of the electric patches on the ground and dodge when the red warning appears near your feet.
You can also take advantage of this attack by staying close to the boss and landing several perfect dodge counterattacks in a row, as Nue remains stationary while calling down the lightning.

The most dangerous attack in this fight is the six-hit claw combo. Watch for the boss pulling its arm back before starting the sequence, then parry each swipe while leaving a short pause between your parries to account for the unusual timing.
The combo ends with a slam, which can also be used as a standalone unblockable attack, so dodge if the boss performs it on its own.
If done right, that’s a free 6 FP for Koo’s abilities. We highly recommend that you learn the tempo of this combo.

Since the Nue Malefact is weak to Poison, use Emma and Koo’s Dokuzeri skills to build up Poison during the fight. You can also use Poison Bolts and Koo’s Poison Fang if you purchased their manuals.
After you take around half of its health, the Malefact will escape to the other side of the valley, and you need to catch up to it.
Chase After The Malefact

Before you leave this arena, head to the end of it toward the west and you will find another shrine that you can interact with.
Follow the objective marker and it will lead you to a broken bridge where you can use it to cross to the other side.

Cross to the other side and activate the campsite there. Speak to the golem here, and it will ask you if you’d listen to the tale of the Three Sages. We picked yes, and we went ahead and listened to this boring story.

Anyways, after the story finishes, the golem sees kindness in you and offers the blade of the story to be given to you so you can use it. Hunter’s Sword is a Poison blade, which will prove very useful against Nue Malefact.
Obtain The Manual: Oil Container

Before heading north chasing the Malefact, go all the way south from here until you spot a shrine and an entrance to the cave.
Before you go inside, look to your left and pick up the Apple Seedling. This unlocks the ability to grow apples in the Grow Chamber back at the Cleanse Walker.
Now onto the manual. Activate the campsite first, and then, using one of your ranged weapons, shoot the explosive barrel to destroy the wall.

Inside, you will find more of these barrels that you need to shoot in order to clear the path. The main path is toward the right side, but feel free to get the loot here before you progress.
In the next room, you will find some enemies. Defeat them and then take the stairs up. Look in the space between the pillars and shoot the barrel here to clear the path.

Move forward upwards until you come across a campsite. Rest here and prepare to face an elite enemy.
The golem doesn’t have any unique attacks. It uses two swords and performs slash combos of three or four attacks, sometimes extending them to five.

You need to parry its attacks to quickly build up its stagger meter, then deliver the lethal blow. This is the easiest way to defeat it.
After you successfully complete this, you will obtain the Manual: Oil Container.
Beat The Malefact Nue (Second Encounter)

Follow the objective marker here toward the north until you come across a shrine being guarded by six enemies. You can try to sneak and assassinate one or two of them and then get the rest.
Once you get all the enemies, don’t forget to interact with the shrine.

Keep following the objective marker until it leads you to the Malefact’s second location. You need to continue the fight that you started.
Nothing has changed here. Nue still has the same attacks, and the same strategy applies here from the first encounter. Its HP is not full, as it is still where you left it.

This time, you have the advantage of the Hunter’s Sword, which builds up Poison using normal attacks. Just do the same thing you did during the first encounter and, toward a quarter of its health, it will escape again.
Emma needs to keep the chase after Nue Malefact until she defeats it. This time, he went all the way to the north.
Find The Remaining Dragon Vein Shrines
There are a few more shrines along the way that you can interact with in this zone:
- You will find one positioned on a rock formation sitting right within the valley around the middle of the map.

- Another is located by crossing the bridge heading west to reach the other side, where you can use your hair to platform up to the upper-level high ground where the shrine is located.

- Finally, looking west from the Flower Field Tower will reveal a raised bridge. Use your extended hair to reach the control panel on the opposite side to lower it if you need.

After that, head into the building and climb up to the upper level to find the shrine waiting for you.

If you’ve been following the shrines we picked up so far in our walkthrough, you should get an additional Stimpack to use, and the limit will raise to five Stimpacks in total.
Obtain The Manual: Poison Arrows

In addition to that, there is one more manual that you can obtain in this zone.
When you reach the Flower Field Tower campsite, which you should naturally reach as you progress through the path chasing the Malefact, you should spot an area northwest where there are multiple enemies and a tent.

Defeat the enemies and go to the table where the tent is, then pick up the manual for Poison Arrows.
Beat The Malefact Nue (Third Encounter)

Take your time exploring more if you need additional valuables and loot, but when you’re ready, cross the bridge that you lowered for the final shrine and then climb up to the right.
From here, look up and climb the points that Emma can reach. This will take you directly to the arena where Nue is waiting for you.

The fight, once again, hasn’t changed at all, and the Malefact didn’t regain any HP. By now, you should have memorized most of its attacks and how the fight works.
Plus, all it has is a quarter of its health, so you should easily take it down. After beating the Nue Malefact, once again, it will escape and move past the Grand Wall.
Head To The Nushi’s Lair

Given that you need to go to the other side as well to progress, you need to find a way to achieve this. Fortunately, the elevator is still functioning.
Drop down all the way to the ground. Don’t worry, there is no fall damage, and wait for the elevator to arrive. Once it does, use it to get past the Grand Wall.

From here, you can use Emma’s hair to cross the terrain until you spot the open area where Nue is waiting for you. Now, before you go, make sure you are well prepared.
There is a strongbox nearby. Open the strongbox to obtain the Floral Wraps armor. Also, there is a merchant from whom you can buy any Spirit Stone you need or purchase the manuals you haven’t yet.

For the final step, we highly recommend that you upgrade the Hunter’s Sword for this fight, alongside your skills, and spend any attribute points left here. Make sure both Emma and Koo’s hunger is full.
After you enter the arena, you will notice the mysterious man from earlier alongside his Malefact Nue. He is a Purifier as well, but somehow, he is ready to fight Emma.
Beat The Male Purifier And Nue Malefact

This is a two-on-two boss fight, with the Nue Malefact retaining the same moveset from the previous encounters.
Your main concern here is the Male Purifier, whose attacks are easier to manage as long as you pay attention to which enemy is currently attacking.
Thankfully, the two enemies usually don’t attack at the same time. The game will also automatically switch your lock-on to whichever enemy is performing a major attack.
It’s very important that you focus on the enemy that is actively attacking you rather than wasting time trying to pressure both bosses at once.

The Male Purifier mainly uses regular slash combos, usually striking twice but sometimes extending the combo to four hits. Parry or block each slash and stay ready for the possibility of additional hits before the combo ends.
The Purifier can also grow a vine from its arm and use it for a two-hit attack. This attack has a good range, so either parry or block both strikes.

Whenever the Male Purifier rises onto a vine, it’s an unblockable jumping slash. Dodge as it comes back down to avoid the attack.

The Male Purifier can also use Life Leech to drain health from the Nue Malefact and restore its own. Interrupt the attack whenever possible so it cannot recover too much health during the fight.

Both enemies are still weak to Poison, so use your Poison skills and attacks whenever possible to take advantage of their shared weakness.
Meet Shidou, The Male Purifier

After you drop both bosses down to zero, it’s not the end. In fact, the Male Purifier managed to get a beating out of Emma and Koo, and they both ended up injured.

The Male Purifier introduces himself as Shidou and then mentions that Emma was chosen as the vessel. He ends the conversation about Emma not being ready yet, so he mounts his Malefact and escapes.
Koo quickly gets out of the vines and tries to heal Emma using his powers.
Back At The Cleanse Walker

Koo managed to bring Emma back to the Cleanse Walker, and after some rest, Emma shared what Shidou said to her with Brad.
Brad quickly changes the subject and asks Emma to recover because there is still a long way to the Capital.
As usual, you have your time at the Cleanse Walker, where you can talk to Kagura, interact with Koo, use the Grow Chamber, or even call Kunai or Mikoto if you want, and so on before you rest for the day.
Chapter 3 End

In the middle of the night, Emma couldn’t sleep and noticed that Brad is busy doing his research again. They have a short conversation about how her and Koo’s bond is getting stronger.
Right after that, Brad called Kunai to keep her up to date about Emma’s encounter with Shidou. It seems that Kunai and Brad go way back and know each other pretty well.
The most surprising thing is when Kunai said: “You still haven’t told Emma, have you?” This indicates that the two know something about Emma that she doesn’t, and it strikes some suspicion.
Even more, Kunai knows about Violet and said in a firm voice that Emma needs to stop her awakening.
Of course, this is how the chapter ends, and we have no idea what any of this means. I guess we’ll just have to progress further to understand.
