Police Station

Before you head off to see the prosecutor, pick up the lunch box just below your desk. You won’t want to visit your friend empty-handed. It contains a delicious-looking sausage, which you will add to your inventory.

Public Prosecutor

The office is messy, and you need to find four bloodstained papers here.

Pick up the piece of paper lying on the ground on the bottom left. You will find a similar paper stuck between the armchair.

Another one of them is sticking out beneath the desk. The stick right beside the door is a little harder to see, but it’s just above the container.

You can use it to pick up the paper on top of the bookshelf. Take out the scarf from the hanger with a hat on.

Place the papers on top of the desk. Arrange them in a way that they match the bloodstains in the table. To progress through case four further, our  Casebook 1899 walkthrough has a solution above.

You now have to revisit each of the crime scenes that you investigated for the past three cases.

Villa Uhlich

casebook 1899 case four

Talk to two people, and they will refuse to answer any questions until you first solve their puzzle. The correct answer is “four brothers and three sisters.”

After answering the riddle, talk to the children about everything. They will tell you the sad fate of the people who lived here. You will also get a note saying that the children’s mother is an actress.

Examine the Villa and you will get a note that it’s now a home to several tenants.

Give the sausage you have to the dog, and it will start following you around. You can also put the scarf you collected on a snowman.

Combine the two notes regarding the actress and several tenants, and you will learn that he is still providing for the actors even after his death.

Villa Haase

Click on the fur on top of the boxes, and you will add it to your inventory.

The angry butler will refuse to talk to you until you bring him a replacement dog. You have a little buddy following you. So just hand it over.

Talk to the butler about Haase, and he will tell you that “Christian Haase received threatening letters.” When you ask about the coachman, he will say that he was “the last person alive who saw Haase.”

Ask the coachman standing on the left regarding this. He will say that he dropped off Christian Haase at Theatre Square.

To examine the letters in question, examine the box which had a fur on it previously. You will pick up some papers. Examine each paper and click on the one below each to move on to the next. You will get a note that these “threatening letters contain references to plays.”

Combine the two notes related to the theatre and the two notes related to the coachman.

Gustav Taubert

casebook 1899 case four

Examine the sign on the scaffold, and you will get a note that “it leads to the roof.”

The maid will ask for help, and it seems she wants attention from a man wearing a blue shirt. Talk to the worker about the maid.

Put the stick in the toolbox and wait for the man to be distracted. When he turns around, pull the lever. Pick up the coal that has fallen over.

Talk to the maid, and she will tell you that Gustav Taubert was banned from the old theatre. Ask more about this by showing her the note, and one more note will be added that he did not write for the theatre.

Combine the two of them, and the detective will speculate that something odd must have happened at the Theatre.

Ask the man about the roof from your notes, and he will tell you that anyone can reach the scaffold. Combine both of them.

Villa Uhlich – Part Two

Complete the snowman using the piece of coal you just picked. The children will now be willing to talk to you again. You will get another note about a hole in the garage wall behind the bush.

Time to find out this hole. Examine the overgrowth of plants, and a hole will be revealed. You will make a note that it is large enough for a person.

Combine the two notes, and you will learn that anyone could have gained access to the Uhlich motor vehicle.

Your notes will have automatic connections between the events leading to the theatre. Examine both green notes, and then you can visit the theatre by clicking on the blue note. It all leads to one destination which is the Theatre so visit that to bring case four to fruition in Casebook 1899.

Theatre

Use the side entrance to get inside. Examine the machine on the right side, and you will need to enter the combination of numbers. You can examine the papers around it for clues.  You can skip this, but the correct answer is “ 2,5,4,8,2.” There are no numbers written on the buttons, so you just need to count counterclockwise.

The actress will now notice you after the stage has been covered. Go back further in the back rooms.

Examine the number on top of any locker, and a piece of paper will open for you to solve a puzzle again. Enter the following numbers “ 1, 9, 2, 10, 3, 11, 4, 12” in the top row, and  “5, 13, 6, 14, 7, 15, 8, 16” in the second.

Examine the locker which you guessed to be 10, if you are having trouble. It’s the one after number 2. Pick up the blue book here. Exit the theatre and go right to enter the city.

Choose where to go based on the following order: “woman with halo, cat, hand, vase.”

Nissun El Sah

Near the larger gate, click on the small door to the shed. Examine the letter on the top right, which appears to be an invitation from the villain.

Press any key on the cash register, and a cogwheel will pop out on the table. You can keep it in your inventory.

casebook 1899 case four

You will find another cogwheel just below the door. Examine the trash can to find another one. Fix the cash register using the wheels you obtained. You can open it by entering the following combination “90, 60, 7, 8” using the keys on the right side.

The cash register opens, and there is information about a Theatre Program inside that you pick up.

Enter the following combination to open the Theatre door: 5, 5, 9, 0.

When you go inside, you will find a puppet theatre. Click on a puppet on the table to add it in your inventory.

Examine the box on the right side to pick up the king’s puppet.

Click on the candleholder to move it slightly aside. Then, examine the carpet below to find another puppet.

Now you need to use these puppets in the theatre in between. First use Scribe, then Merchant, and then King. Then press the Merchant, King, and Scribe in the exact order.  There are spoilers ahead for Casebook 1899 case four ending below.

An actor will emerge from behind the stage. He is apparently your culprit in all three cases. Before he tells you the combination to free the prosecutor, you need to answer his questions correctly. Choose the following.

Because he didn’t support you.

Because he didn’t let you perform.

Because he panned you.
