Cloudheim – Arcadia Act 1 Walkthrough

Cloudheim

In Cloudheim, you’ll be playing the role of a Runari, who’s riding Odin’s Shell, a gigantic flying turtle, as you restore order to the world and awaken the slumbering gods. There are plenty of chests to find here, and the game offers a vast open world where it’s easy to get lost. For more information on Cloudheim, don’t forget to visit its official Steam page here.

Note that Cloudheim is currently in Early Access. Regardless, there’s a lot to do here by yourself and with your friends. After arriving on Odin’s Shell, your first quest will be to head over to Arcadia and complete the first set of quests there to awaken the slumbering god.

A Runari

As you awaken in an ancient area, you’ll hear Sylf’s voice guiding you. You’ll have to go through a short sequence where Sylf will teach you the game’s basics and mechanics. You’ll be able to test out both of your primary skills, the lasso and the kick ability, and then you’ll be able to pick a class.

The class system isn’t set in stone, and you can level any class by using the weapons of that class. After picking a class, you’ll have to try out your newly learned attacks and skills on scarecrows and wooden stumps. Complete the required practice requirements and move ahead.

Next, you’ll encounter a small group of Grobbs. These are common mob enemies that you’ll be seeing often. Now, after defeating them, you’ll progress to another area, where you’ll encounter an armored enemy.

Armored enemies can’t be damaged with normal attacks, and you’ll first have to break their armor by using skills or by kicking objects or other enemies into them. Once you’ve done that, you’ll finally arrive on Odin’s Shell.

Odin’s Shell

Odin’s Shell is your base and where you’ll be building your own little town and hosting a bazaar where you can sell stuff you’ve found on your adventures. After arriving, you can find a few chests here before making your way to the building area.

Here, you’ll find a Blin. They’re very small, and they’ll be the ones handling the labor and the merchant stuff on your base. Talk to Bill, and he’ll ask for your help to add the finishing touches to his house. Once you’re done, you’ll be able to access the build mode.

In the build mode, your first task will be to build a Blin Construction Guild. After that, you’ll have to build and place a series of different structures inside your base.

There’s also a Retrieve Loot chest here, where all the items that you or your friends encounter on your adventures get stored. You can only carry five sets of items at once inside your base, so you’ll be accessing this chest a lot for storing and taking out your items.

After you’ve set up the few essential buildings, you’ll be tasked to go to Arcadia through the Bifrost gate.

Arrival In Arcadia

As you open the map, you’ll see that Arcadia is the only place on the map with a 0 World Star requirement. World Stars are basically key items that you can obtain from solving puzzles, progressing through the story, or encountering certain chests. These World Stars serve to unlock new regions.

Unlock Arcadia and teleport to it. You’ll find a few enemies here, but there are three primary objectives at first. You have to scout the Proving Grounds and the Old Wall, and after that, you have to reach the Fiblin Field.

You’ll find Proving Grounds shortly ahead of the area where you teleported. There are a bunch of enemies here, but you only have to discover the location to complete the objective. Now, keep progressing ahead.

You’ll find that your path is blocked by rocks on the stairs at the Old Wall. You can kick the TNT barrels here towards the rocks to destroy them.

Note that there’s a rock next to the stairs with a chest hidden underneath, where you’ll find a World Star.

From The Old Wall To The Fiblin Field

There’s a building here with two flamethrowers periodically blocking the path. There’s a chest under the door, across the flamethrower, but you’ll have to use an attack to break the wall to get to the chest.

After that, go upstairs, and you’ll activate a checkpoint. There are two mechanisms here.

You can activate them by attacking, but you still have to find the third one, which is on the next floor, and you have to be quick because these mechanisms deactivate after a short duration.

On the next floor, you’ll encounter two larger Grobbs. Focus on activating the mechanism first before dealing with the enemies. Once you’re done, you’ll unlock the 3 chests after defeating the duo, and then head back downstairs to open the chest that was locked behind the mechanism.

There’s a tiny tornado here on this floor that will launch you directly to the Fiblin Field.

Setting Up The Bazaar

You’ll find Wren at the Fiblin Field. He’ll advise you to return to Odin’s Shell and build your base first. You can immediately return to your base at any time by opening the map and pressing the required button to teleport back to Odin’s Shell.

Here, you’ll have to build several more structures, including a Sales Table and a Checkout Counter. Make sure the Checkout Counter and the Sales Table are near each other and also near the Bifrost Gate, because that’s where your customers will be arriving from.

You’ll also have to talk to Brooks. You can find him behind the Bifrost Gate. He’ll ask you to collect 250 Pumpkin Coins. You can gather these coins by defeating enemies wearing a Pumpkin Head on your adventures.

After that, you can ring the bell next to the Checkout Counter to open your shop. You’ll then have to place the items you want to sell on the Sales Table.

You can only place three items on a single Sales Table, but you can craft more if you’ve got a lot more stuff to sell and the resources to build them. After you’ve sold everything you needed to sell, you can interact with the bell again to close the shop.

The Turtle’s Words

Once you’ve closed up the shop, you’ll have to go to the Top Terrace. You can grapple using your lasso skill to reach there quickly.

Odin’s Shell has some words to share with you here. It will tell you to return to Arcadia and awake the slumbering god there.

Head back to the Bifrost Gate and travel to Arcadia. As soon as you return, you’ll have to talk to Wren in the Fiblin Field.

Wren will tell you about a lost god named Grimsladd. He’ll tell you that Grimsladd loves peace, and you’ll have to restore that to Arcadia by getting rid of the chaos here.

You’ll get two new objectives. Cleanse the Tree Tunnel and investigate the Spritefire Pond, as the Stumpy Army has been stirring up there.

Tree Tunnel

You can get to the Tree Tunnel by going southeast from the Fiblin Field. You’ll encounter several enemies here. There’s also a chest on a pedestal here. Interact with it, and it will open a field around you with enemies spawning inside of it in waves.

Defeat all of them to unlock the chest. However, your job isn’t done here. There are a few armored stump creatures here, and you’ll have to defeat them all to cleanse the area.

There are more stump enemies shortly ahead of the area where you found the chest. After defeating them all, you’ll have to go to the Spritefire Pond.

Spritefire Pond

Spritefire Pond is located to the west of the Fiblin Field. As soon as you arrive in the pond, the objectives will change and require you to defeat the Stumpy Army and Gnarly as well.

There’s also a chest in the middle of the pond. This chest is locked behind pressure plates, and you’ll have to step on four of them to activate them all to unlock the chest.

As you move shortly ahead, you’ll find a group of stumpy enemies. Fight them all until they stop respawning. Explore the area thoroughly for any enemies that might be left until the objective is marked as completed.

General Gnarly

Now, you have to find Gnarly. There’s an area resembling a temple grounds in this area, and you’ll have to fight General Gnarly here. General Gnarly isn’t fighting you alone, and it will be armored.

Kick the smaller enemies into it to break its armor, and then keep rushing it down to defeat it. Gnarly might link itself to its allies to absorb their power. During this, you won’t be able to damage its armor without getting rid of the linked enemy first.

After you’ve successfully defeated General Gnarly, go back to the Fiblin Field and talk to Wren. Don’t forget to claim the chests that were unlocked after defeating Gnarly.

Family Feud

Once you return, Wren will tell you about the feud among the Grobbs, where the usurper is trying to overthrow the king. Make your way to the Greenmantle Compound to investigate.

As soon as you arrive in the area, you’ll get the objective to defeat both the Grobb Usurper and the Grobb King. Go for the quest marker that’s showing tracking the lower location of the two.

You’d want to defeat the Usurper first before heading to the fortress and then heading to the dungeon to fight the Grobb King.

Grobb Usurper

Grobb Usurper is surrounded by several of its minions, and you’ll have to defeat all of them. There are archers who can disappear after shooting their arrows, so you’ll have to rush them down while they’re aiming at you.

Kick enemies into the Usurper to break its armor and keep attacking it. There’s meat on some campfires in this area, so you can eat that to heal yourself during the battle. The Usurper will often shield itself by linking with the other enemies.

Get rid of the other enemies first, and then break the Usurper’s armor to defeat him. After you’ve defeated it, a gate will open, and there are a few chests here, as well as several destructible objects.

Now, you have to make your way to the dungeon to face the Grobb King.

Grobb King’s Dungeon

The Grobb King’s fortress is in two parts. You’ll have to go to the second floor of the first building and take the bridge from there to get to the building where the Bifrost leading to the dungeon is.

Immediately make your way forward. There are some enemies here, but you’ll see the checkpoint doors right ahead.

Keep moving until you arrive in an area with arrows leading to the path on the left. Most of the enemies in this dungeon are optional, and unless a door is blocked, you can skip most of the enemies.

Go left and keep progressing forward. Shortly, you’ll arrive in an area with three tiny tornadoes in midair. You’ll have to look up to spot them, but they’re just before the locked door.

The Puzzle In The Grobb King’s Dungeon

Get rid of the annoying enemies here and make your way to the mechanism near the locked chest. Attack the mechanism and use your lasso on the chain hanging from the ceiling.

You’ll encounter the second mechanism on this path. Now, you’ll have to jump on the flying tornadoes. Be sure to land on them for the jump to trigger and get to the other side.

There’s a chest here, but on the other side of the stone on the wooden platforms, you’ll find the third mechanism. This will unlock the chest, and you can progress ahead.

You’ll have to keep going through a few more sections before you can finally arrive in the Grobb King’s chambers.

Fighting Against The Grobb King

Kick the gates to the fortress, and you’ll find the Grobb King inside with his minions. Most of the enemies here are armored, but you’ll have to kick the small ones at them to break their armor.

Furthermore, by this point, you’d also have unlocked more combat skills and would be hitting hard enough to break the armor of weaker enemies with melee attacks.

The Grobb King uses ice attacks. You’ll have to destroy the icicles to stop the blizzard that he summons in the area. He’ll often recover and summon new enemies, linking himself to them. Target the linked enemies first to break the bubble and then attack the king to deal damage.

Once the Grobb King is defeated, you can get out of the dungeon, but there’s a puzzle here with several chests.

The Puzzle In Grobb King’s Chambers

There’s a hook on the ceiling, and if you use your lasso on it, it will drop a sphere. If you walk across any of the wooden bridges leading out of the chambers, you’ll find a wall with a sphere slot in it.

You have to kick the sphere into these slots, but getting the sphere to them can be challenging. Use your lasso to bring the sphere to you or kick it in the direction where you want it to go.

Once you’re in the right position, kick the sphere into the wall, and that will unlock the nearby chest. There are about three walls here. Once you’ve used up the sphere, you can use the lasso on the hook again to drop another sphere.

You can also use the sphere in combat to break the armor of your enemies if there’s nothing nearby to kick to break their armor.

Wrapping Up

After defeating the Grobb King, progress ahead of the final gate, and you’ll find a chest right before the Bifrost gate. This chest will contain a World Star.

Now, at the Bifrost Gate, you’ll get a choice to teleport back to Arcadia or return to Odin’s Shell. However, the quest objective requires you to return to Wren in the Finblin Field.

Once you do so, Wren will give you the next quest, where you’ll have to gather two artifacts to help transition Grimsladd from meditating to finally waking up. This will also mark the completion of Act 1 of Arcadia’s quests.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the icons on the customer’s head mean during Bazaar time in Cloudheim?

Whenever you open a shop on Odin’s Shell, you may notice the customers coming in with different icons on their heads. The icon represents the type of item the customer is looking for. If a customer has a herb icon on their head, then it means that they’re looking for a herb, but it won’t tell you which one.

If you’ve already got a specific type of item on your sales table and it’s still not being purchased, try swapping it out with a different item of the same category, depending on your customers’ preferences.

How to break the shields of boss enemies?

Bosses are often armored, and you’ll have to break their armor just like you do with regular enemies. However, during battle, some bosses may coat themselves in a bubble, linking it with other smaller enemies in the arena. This scenario may happen even if you’ve taken out every small enemy before focusing on the boss.

You have to defeat the linked enemies first to make the boss vulnerable again. Once you’ve defeated every linked enemy, the bubble will disappear, and you may continue to attack the boss as usual.

Do the bosses respawn?

If you’ve already defeated a boss in the open world or inside a dungeon, they will respawn again on your next run. You can travel to Odin’s Shell and then back to a region to respawn open-world bosses, but for the dungeon bosses, you’ll have to clear the entire dungeon first to reach them.
