It is time to start hunting the heroes you need to slay in order to seal the Resurgence once and for all in Code Vein 2. The first one we are going to seek is the closest, called Josée.
The first part of this walkthrough for this arc will focus on finding Josée himself and figuring out where or what his key could be.

Reach The Sunken City

Given that you have saved Noah, the bridge between MagMell and the mainland will now be available in the present. Make your way there, and a cutscene will play.
At the start of the bridge, you will find a stone monument, and Lou will approach it. The message there is addressed to the main character, offering a gift to help you during your journey.

The present is a motorcycle, which you can use to travel across the open world of the mainland. This makes exploring the map much faster and easier.
Now summon your new motorcycle and cross the bridge until you reach the Mistle there. From this point, follow the straightforward path.
Halfway through, you will find a map jammer to your left; be sure to destroy it before moving on.
Speak To The Elderly Revenant

Keep following the path until you reach a person praying at someone’s grave. This is an elderly Revenant, and as soon as he realizes that you are a Revenant, he starts saying that he is going to kill you.
But the poor man is old and collapses, coughing by himself, then returns to praying. Lou explains that the Luna Rapacis has taken hold of his mind, leaving him unable to control his emotions.

You can still speak to this man about Josée and learn some background history from his perspective, but the main path awaits. Take the path down, and you will eventually reach a small settlement.
The Refugee Village

This is the Refugee Village, where a few Revenants remain. There is not much to explore, but there are a couple of items you can grab before progressing forward:
- At the far end of the building to the left, you can pick up a Pure Platinum Level 1.
- On the building to the right, you can obtain the Well-Worn Tool gift.

At the exit of the village, there is another Mistle, so make sure to activate it. Just a few steps down, you will find one of Jadwiga’s Minions, where you can buy new items or sell valuables for money.

Once you are done in the village, proceed forward toward the broken highway path. Along the way, you will encounter enemies blocking your path, so be sure to defeat them.
Keep following the path west, and you will find another Mistle. Activate it, then continue through the gate.
Eastern Gatehouse Ruins

At the entrance, you will see a large enemy, and you can choose not to fight it, as it is slightly more powerful than normal mobs. Pick whichever option you are comfortable with.
The main objective here is to go inside the building to the right. You will find loot on the shrine; pick it up, then continue inside and take the stairs up.

There will be a chest that you can open to obtain a new weapon Forma called the Phantom Assault. That is all for this section, so make your way west until you reach a large tower.
Explore Josée Outpost

As soon as you approach the tower, Lou will sense a strong pulse of Josée’s pathos inside the clock tower. Lou proceeds to tell a short story about how Josée could not always control her powers, which once led to a disaster.
You both know you are on the right path, so now you need to find a way inside the tower. At the entrance, it will be locked, but there is a Mistle that you need to activate.
Move to the left side of the building, and at the end of the hallway, you will find an elevator on the left side. Enter it to take you up.

At the top, there will be a revival point stone. Interact with it to set this location as your checkpoint.
With that done, progress forward and to the left. A few enemies will be waiting, so make sure to deal with them. At the end of this left hallway, climb up to the right. There is a purple loot you can grab from here.

Head back down and continue forward, taking the skybridge to the other side. Here, there are two paths.
First, go to the right, defeat the two enemies ahead, and then take the stairs up. On the catwalk, you can grab the Aromatic Herbal Tea gift.

Now head back to the opposite side, which is the main path. Take the ladder down toward the Mistle and be sure to activate it.
Your objective here is to make it to the side, and you can take either the right or left path, both leading in the same direction.

Pick either path to reach the side, where you will see a boss fight fog. Before entering, make sure to destroy the map jammer to the left.
Defeat The Mutated Survivor Bern

Mutated Survivor Bernd attacks by controlling six floating blades that move when he swings his weapon. He does not hold the blades directly, and most of his attacks come from directing them around his body.
One of his strongest moves occurs when he briefly lowers himself before jumping toward you and slamming the blades into the ground.

As soon as he jumps, move or dodge to either side to avoid the hit. After landing, he pauses for a short time, giving you a chance to attack or heal, whichever you need.
He also uses attacks where he raises one arm and sends three blades down in front of him. This attack is fast, so backing away early is the safest response, and it leaves a brief opening once it ends.

You can try to guard most of his attacks, but note that this consumes stamina and allows only minimal damage buildup. This is why dodging or creating distance is usually recommended.
At other times, he swings both arms outward, causing all the blades to spin around him, signaling that you should create distance as soon as you see it start.

Another heavy attack begins when he pulls both arms behind him, drawing all six blades back before sending them forward in a wide spin. When you see this movement, dodge backward immediately.
Once the attack ends, he pauses briefly, allowing you to deal damage before resuming his assault.

After defeating Bernd, you will obtain the Stealth Blades, which you can use similarly to his attack style. Only you have two instead of six, but they look super cool on you.
Josée’s Cocoon

In front of you, you will find a golden barrier with a heart in the middle. Approach it and interact with the heart. This will transport you to one of the memories from the past.
In the memories realm, you will learn something strange.

As the memories unfold, it appears that some events occurred that are not documented in the present, such as the hunter raiding the Sunken City or a second Resurgence.

This leaves both you and Lou confused, but you remain determined to uncover the truth behind it all.
After returning to the real world, take the elevator in front of you and go up. Ahead, you will see Josée’s Cocoon.

During the cutscene, you will see that Josée is filled with so much pathos, which allows you to use the bond to travel to the past and hopefully figure everything out.
Sunken City: The Past

After you manage to travel to the past, you and Lou will find yourselves at the top of the tower. Suddenly, you hear someone screaming about intruders attacking the tower and Josée.
Once the cutscene finishes, take the stairs all the way down until you reach a room. Here, you will find a girl lying on the bed, and you are unsure who she is. Approach her.

As your character gets closer, she flips you onto the bed and begins sucking your blood, revealing that she is a vampire. She starts mocking you, assuming you came to kill her.
During this heated moment, some Revenant hunters crash into the room. The girl prepares to fight, but to her surprise, you stand beside her, signaling that you are there to help.

After you both defeat the two enemies, a new group of enemies breaches the room.
This time, the girl takes control, killing them all with her greatsword.

After the fight, your character faints and falls to the ground. The girl’s patch eye begins glowing purple.
This affects her for a moment, before she notices you on the floor and starts figuring out what to do with you.
Meet Josée

During your slumber, Lou will try to wake you, and this rouses you. You find yourself inside the tower, held down by two men restraining you.
In front of you sits the girl from earlier on a throne. She appears to be a woman of power and has commanded her followers to impale you.

The leader behind you approaches with a weapon, but as soon as he reaches you, the girl stops him. She then clarifies that he was actually helping her and that this was all a misunderstanding.
During her speech, she announces that you two are getting married for some reason, then whispers to you that she is just trying to save your life and that you need to go along with it. This is one thing you do not need to worry about, as your protagonist remains silent.
The staged ceremony convinces the people and eases their minds. After this, you return to the room, and she introduces herself as Josée, one of the Revenants you are seeking.

This was all a trial to test you because you are a stranger, and she wanted to know your true intentions. Of course, you do not reveal anything about the present and simply play along, saying you need help finding work.
She agrees and takes you in but expects your assistance with a few tasks she has. Your current objective is to play along and gain Josée’s trust in order to learn the key and track its whereabouts.
