Control Resonant – Welcome To Manhattan Walkthrough

Join us at Into Indie Games as we continue our journey through the Welcome To Manhattan quest in Control Resonant.

Dylan’s first time outside after so many years comes as a shock when he sees that Manhattan has fallen to the Hiss, leaving the city in chaos and danger. With everything around him changed, Dylan quickly realizes that the world outside the Oldest House is nothing like what he remembers.

On top of that, Jesse’s disappearance has opened up a whole new thread that is already spreading beyond the Oldest House. Now, Dylan must make his way through Manhattan and stop it from spreading further.

A Familiar Face

Zoe De Vera figured out who P6 is, the infamous Dylan Faden, and with his consent, they decided to take him back to the Oldest House and wait until further notice on what to do with him.

The scene starts with Dylan wearing the Mobile Containment Device as the FBC technician tests it out. He used to have this device back during his Prime Candidate Training.

After initially testing the device, we see a familiar face here, Pope from the first game. She is now Head of Research after the disappearance of Doctor Darling. She is the same as ever, smart and very informative about everything.

Pope proceeds to explain matters to Dylan and how things will work now. They accepted Dylan’s request to help, but only under the regulations of the FBC. Given that he is immune to the Hiss, Dylan is the best chance they have. He will be under the supervision of Agent De Vera, Zoe, and she will be your Handler.

The Hiss is not the only problem Manhattan is facing. There is the Patterning that comes with Resonants. These entities are more powerful, and the two are affecting each other.

Pope, of course, is always excited and passionate about her work, and she is finding all of this thrilling. Typical Pope, but enough chatter for now.

If you want, you can speak with her further. Personally, we did because we find it fascinating how Pope is very smart and has most, and sometimes all, the information that we need to fill the gaps.

Check The Wardrobe

After you finish your conversation with Pope, you can explore around and check on the Wardrobe just in the left corner of the room.

If you pre-ordered the game or have the Deluxe Edition, you will be able to equip your new outfit here. These are purely cosmetic, and you will unlock more as you play the game and explore.

You’re free to explore inside the Oldest House more if you miss it, because we surely did, but you will have limited access to only the Central Executive and the surrounding areas.

Help With The Mapping Pylon

Whenever you’re ready, head outside and you will get a radio call from Zoe to fill you in. Your first task is to help the cartography team.

You will see a Map Kit icon on the map. This is a Pylon that you need to complete a small mini-puzzle to reactivate, and it will reveal the zone map that you are in.

This means revealing the map should always be your first priority whenever you enter a new area, as exploring blindly without one can prove difficult.

While the map is far from detailed and will not reveal points-of-interest icons until you are within the vicinity of them, it still gets the job done.

Head toward the objective marker on the map and you will be able to see the Pylon we mentioned alongside the maintenance worker, Amer, holding a green flare.

Speak to the guy at the Pylon and he will show you how things are done. Normally, you will need to activate three sensors around the Pylon before interacting with it, and doing this correctly will reveal the zone map.

If you look closely at the Pylon, you will notice three distinct antennas pointing in different directions. Each antenna acts as a directional indicator for a hidden sensor, making navigation easier.

Simply follow the line of sight from each antenna to locate the small, red-emitting sensor in that area. Interact with all three sensors and then return to the Pylon and activate it. This will reveal the Downtown map.

Fast Travel Door

Next to one of the sensors, you will notice a strange-looking door, which serves as your fast travel system across Manhattan. Whenever you are close to one, it will be marked on your map.

Make sure to activate these doors whenever you come across them to unlock new fast travel points and significantly reduce your backtracking.

Find The Maintenance Worker

With that done, you need to make your way to Zoe at the Watchtower, and in order to do so, you need to go through the Central Checkpoint. The only issue is the power is out despite having an agent to fix it.

Southeast from the Pylon, you will get your objective marker. Head there. At the end of the street, you will find a note on the chair there.

Read it and you will learn that Baker left because of “Dylan.” People still think badly of me because of his past. This means that Dylan needs to step up and do this himself.

Find A Way To Fix The Power

Behind the chair, there is a small site where you will find a note on the desk, and on the other side, there is a power cell similar to the one from the first game. This time around, they work differently.

First, make sure you inspect the note so you will learn how to route the power to the checkpoint. There is a specific path that you need to follow, and it’s marked there.

Now, how it works is that when you attack the power cell, the Aberrant can absorb its charge, but only for a limited time. You can see the glow on your weapon. This allows you to move the power from one cell to another.

Move The Charge To Central Checkpoint

If you open your map, it will highlight, in order, the power cell locations that lead to the checkpoint. Before you start, we had to go explore where they are and decide on a proper path to follow.

Start by taking the charge from the original cell to the one ahead on the street. Next, take the charge, go right, then take the alley to the left. To the left, you will see the cell.

When you put the charge here, this will unlock the garage, where you will see an engineer corpse that you can report to Zoe. Inside, there is also a crate that you can loot.

Now to the next one, pick up the charge and move straight ahead, then climb up from the left to make it to the rooftop on the right side where the cell is.

Next, move the charge to the next cell at the ground level where the FBC outpost is. From here, it’s straightforward. Exit from the west side and take the charge to the checkpoint and it will power it back on.

This will also trigger the Hiss, so prepare to fight them. You need to defeat all the enemies here to unblock the way. Don’t forget to focus on killing the Heavy enemies to stop the smaller ones from spawning.

Meet Zoe At The Watchtower

After you defeat all the enemies, you can call one of the elevators on any side so it will take you to the checkpoint. From here, simply follow the signs that say Central.

Keep following the way until you reach the Central Watchtower. You will be able to hear music coming from the room to your right. This is where Zoe is.

Zoe will explain that Manhattan has been divided into separate zones, and each zone seems to have its own Patterning and potentially Resonant entity.

She then continues filling you in, and as she does, you will get new quests. The quests separate into three categories: Contain the Crisis, Search for Jesse, and Defeating Resonants, which are all connected.

But before you attempt to freely pick where you want to go, you need to visit the Central Field Office. Zoe will hand you the key to the elevator to access it.

From the window here, you will be able to see the zones from a distance, and you can ask Zoe to fill you in about every one of them. This will also add a quest relating to each zone.

You can also have a conversation with Zoe to learn more about her and what’s happened, but that’s optional.

When you’re done, make sure you activate the Fast Travel Door just outside at the end of the hallway to the right.

Clear The Supply Route

Head downstairs and interact with the elevator to take you down.

Go through the tunnel and follow the straightforward path until you come across an open area with two doors that require a power cell charge to unlock.

At the ground level, you will find the charged power cell. Absorb this charge and take it first to the door on the left side. Inside, you will find an FBC crate that has a Power Upgrade.

Now take the charge to the metal door across to continue on your main path. Follow the way right and defeat the enemies along the way.

Eventually, you will reach another door that requires a power cell, alongside some dead Rangers that you can report to Zoe. From here, go right and defeat the waves of enemies here.

At the ground level, you can take the charge from the power cell here and take it back up to the door above and unlock it. This path is just a shortcut to get back quickly to the elevator.

Go through the tunnel and follow the signs until you reach what looks like a subway station. From here, there are two sets of stairs. Take the stairs to the left and follow them to find a crate to loot.

Take the stairs to the right and follow them until you reach the exit door.

Just before it, you will find a small room that has the Third Ice Machine. Loot it for another Health Upgrade.

Get A Security Keycard

After you exit the station, you need to make your way to the Field Office, which is north of your location. Follow the signs, and just as you try to enter, you will be stopped by some Rangers.

They will recognize you as THE Dylan and refuse to let you in. Since Zoe doesn’t want to make a fuss out of this, she makes a call to the gatekeeper and demands that they grant passage to Dylan.

This upsets the Rangers, but Dylan is here to help, so it does not matter what they think of him. As soon as you enter the Field Office, make sure you unlock the Fast Travel Door and activate the Pylon for the map.

When that’s done, go inside the Field Command Office ahead and you’ll be able to pick up the keycard from the desk in the middle of the room.

Now from here, you are free to take on any of the available quests. Go west or head east, the choice is yours. We did West first and then headed to the east.

And with that, we wrap up another walkthrough for Control Resonant. Thanks for checking it out!
