Corsair Cove – Walkthrough Part 1

Corsair Cove Walkthrough

Corsair Cove is a pirate city-builder game where you play as a band of famous pirates who have gotten stuck on an uninhabited island after being chased by the Crown’s forces. Now, they must build their strength together and prepare to fight against incoming invasions, while also expanding their influence and notoriety.

For more information about the game, please visit its official Steam page here.

Settling In

As the game begins, you’ll find a shipwreck on one of the islands in the cove. This is the same shipwreck that brought your pirate buddies here. A Pirate Camp will be automatically set up beside it.

Your first task, according to the Tutorial, is to connect the shipwreck to the Pirate Camp to harvest the resources from the shipwreck, which contains a bunch of planks.

Open the Connections Menu and select the connector option there. Click on the shipwreck’s border, where it glows green, and then click on the Pirate Camp. This will allow the workers to reach the Shipwreck and deliver resources back to the camp. Furthermore, you’ll have to connect every structure with a Pirate Camp for it to function.

Once the Pirate Camp is completed with the help of the planks from the Shipwreck, you’ll have to click on it. It will show you that you’re currently lacking Housing. This happens whenever the number of pirates in your cove increases compared to the housing structures available.

You’ll then have to select the tent and build at least three of them in the area. It’s best to build them on the cliff walls because the area on the ground is useful for other structures. Just make sure they don’t come in the way of any other path or structures.

Basic Resources And Events

Next, you’ll have to set up a Woodcutter. Woodcutter can only be built on fertile pieces of land. When you select the Woodcutter from the build menu, you’ll be able to locate these places by the purple or green outline. After setting up the Woodcutter, you’ll have to click on it.

Set up a Sawmill next. Sawmill converts wood to planks, which are used as a construction material. Sawmills can be built on walls. Make sure to place the Sawmill near the Woodcutter, because you’ll have to deliver the wood from the Woodcutter to the Sawmill. The longer the gap, the more time it will take for production. Click on the Sawmill after its construction has been completed.

If you’re setting up more than one Woodcutter and Sawmill, you can select the Sawmill and click on the wood icon to select which Woodcutter you want to fetch the wood from. This trick applies to other resources as well and can allow you to organize your cove better.

After that, you have to build a Warehouse. While your workers can deliver resources directly from the production building, their own in-house storage is quite limited. This is why you can build Warehouses and use them to store various resources. A single Warehouse can store three different resources. You’ll have to manually select which resources you want to store in the Warehouse.

For the main quest, you’ll have to assign the fetcher from the Warehouse to the shipwreck. This will let you collect all construction resources from the shipwreck. Once the shipwreck is empty, you can demolish it by clicking on the left-most icon on the bottom tab.

Shortly after, you’ll get your first event. These events occur periodically, and you’ll have to find ways to resolve them, but they affect your Cohesion, so you’ll have to be careful. Once the Cohesion hits 0, it’s game over. In the Crown Castaways event, I picked the option to let the soldiers live. This caused a massive damage of -30 to Cohesion, but the other option reduced the number of workers, which can be a problem as well.

Food And Drinks

Your crew’s satisfaction will keep going down unless you set up food production. To get food, you’ll first have to set up a campfire. Next, you’ll have to build a Galley. Make sure the Galley is close to the Campfire, so you can fetch the food from the campfire quickly and distribute it in the Galley.

As soon as you’ve set up a Galley with a Campfire, your satisfaction will start to rise. After 120 seconds, you’ll get another quest. Now, it’s time for drinks. Build a Moonshine Still anywhere, and place a Tavern nearby.

Building A Ship

To build your first ship, you’ll have to first set up a Pier. Piers are set up in predetermined locations. Select the Pier option from the build menu and look for a suitable place to build it. There’s only one spot in the default Pirate Camp’s range where you can build a Pier. After setting up, you’ll have to connect it to the Pirate Camp.

As soon as you’ve finished setting up the Pier, your cove will be attacked by Amara’s ship. She’ll take Rambullion with her and leave after causing a ton of damage. Since you have no means of defense, you’ll just have to wait for the attack to finish.

After Amara has left, select any of the damaged buildings. Here, you’ll find the required resources to repair all damaged buildings. Repair all the buildings so the production can resume.

Once the buildings have been repaired, the satisfaction will begin to rise. You’ll need a ship now. Select the Pier and click on the Landlubber. Click on the build ship button to start the construction.

After the Landlubber is built, you’ll have to assign a captain to it. For now, you’ll have to pick between Teach, Kanja, Scarlet, and Honorata. I picked Honorata as the captain for this ship because her bonuses went well with the idea of exploration.

You’ll then have to pause the Sawmill due to the lack of free pirates. You’ll need at least 10 of them to fill the new ship’s crew. After you’ve paused the Sawmill, click on the Pier and add its crew. I added all 15 members, and you should do the same, as they serve as a valuable resource.

Press M, and that will open the map. Select the nearby discovery icon on the world map. It will be represented by a scroll. Click on the scroll and press Embark. This will set the Landlubber on its journey.

When the ship gets there, it will start a turn-based battle. Battle events in Corsair Cove rely on dice rolls and resource management. You’ll have to pick the required option and then roll a die. Its effectiveness is based on what you roll. For the tutorial battle, you’ll have to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the battle and reduce the enemy ship’s health to 0.

Barbos Bay

After the battle at Skull Rock, you’ll have to select the Landlubber and send it back to the Pier. Once the ship returns, you’ll have to set up a few more tents for the growing population of the pirates.

After the ship has returned to the Pier, select the Pier and click on the Repair Ship button. This will use up a few resources to heal the ship’s health and replenish its supplies. If you’ve lost crew members, you’ll have to manually add them to the ship from the Pier menu.

You’ll then have to select Barbos Bay from the world map and send the Landlubber to it. During the battle, you’ll have to defend for the first three turns. Use options that allow you to minimize the damage taken.

After the initial three turns, you’ll have to attack and reduce Amara’s ship’s HP to 0. This shouldn’t take too much time because Amara’s Ship only has 11 HP.

Gun Tower

After your successful skirmish at Barbos Bay, you’ll have to return Landlubber to the Pier. After that, you’ll be able to mine stone from a quarry. Build the Quarry over the stone deposit. You’ll also have to build a Stonecutter to create stone blocks. Make sure the Stonecutter is placed near the Quarry, or has a quick route to it.

Once you’re producing stone blocks, you’ll be able to build a Gun Tower. The Gun Tower’s placement is tricky. You need a lot of space for it, and it should also have uninterrupted aim towards the closest attack point.

After the Gun Tower is complete, click on the Stonecutter building and click on the gear icon on it. This drastically speeds up the production using any available pirates.

Now, you’ll have to wait around till the Gun Tower can craft an Ammunition using the Gunpowder that you have salvaged from the previous events.

As soon as the ammunition has been produced, Amara will attack your cove with her ship. This time, your Gun Tower will be able to destroy her ship automatically.

Gunpowder

Now, you’ll have to set up another Pirate Camp on the cove, but this one should include at least one Guano deposit. After setting up the second Pirate Camp, you’ll have to connect it to the first one through the connectors so the workers can deliver the building materials to it.

After that, you’ll have to build a Guano Gatherer on the Guano deposit. Now, since this new Pirate Camp also has mouths to feed, you’ll have to set up a Campfire and a Galley as well to keep the Satisfaction up.

Next, you’ll have to set up a Quarry to mine stone, a Woodcutter to get wood, and a Charburner to produce charcoal. You’ll need both stone and wood to craft Charcoal at the Charburner. If you’re lacking workers, you can disable some structures in the first Pirate Camp to get more free workers.

After that, you’ll have to set up a powder mill. A powder mill requires Guano and charcoal to craft gunpowder. Once you’re producing gunpowder, select the small Gun Tower and assign a fetcher to the Powder Mill. You’ll have to make sure the path is connected to the Powder Mill.

Deeds

After you’ve completed the Reloading Our Tower quest, you’ll unlock Deeds. Deeds have four categories. You can choose to unlock and expand all of them, or focus on one category.

These categories include: Notoriety, Seafaring, Empire, and Wealth. Each tree has separate requirements, and you’ll have to complete its quest to unlock points, which can then be used to unlock the points relevant to the category.
