Craftlings – Abandoned Mine Walkthrough

Craftlings Walkthrough

Each stage in Craftlings offers a unique goal, and that’s also true for the Abandoned Mine stage, where you’ll have to build an entire castle. However, unlike earlier stages, there’s a lot going on here, and the foundation of some structures has already been laid out. For more information on the game, don’t forget to visit its official Steam page here.

There are also multiple levels in this stage that are connected by ladders, and you’ll have to learn to carefully maximize the use of your Craftlings in each level to succeed.

Introduction

In the Abandoned Mine stage, you’ll have to deliver a total of 15 stones, 5 units of iron ore, and 5 spears to the castle to complete its construction. You’ll also have to set up a Lumber Mill to produce wooden planks and streamline the production of iron ore.

There are a total of four levels in this stage, with the fourth one being on the sea level, while the first level is where your Town Hall is. You’ll have to carefully divide your Craftlings for each level, depending on your current needs to progress.

Starting Out

First, disable the stopper on the left of the lift on the first level. This will cause your Craftlings to reach the ladder, leading them to the second level, where the foundation of the Lumber Mill is already placed.

You start with a level 3 Town Hall in this stage, so you have the basic spells available. You’ll also have access to the dynamites to create and enlarge the pathways to place larger structures.

Out of the 10 available Craftlings at the start, most of them should be sent to the level 3 platform, where the Sapling Farm and the Lumberjack’s Hut are. Around 2-3 Craftlings should be sent to level 2, where the incomplete Lumber Mill is.

Turn off the ladders so the Craftlings are stuck there, and you should also disable the personal lifts. Make sure you don’t open pathways leading to the skeletons yet by using stoppers.

Completing The Lumber Mill

The Lumber Mill requires 3 wood and 3 stones. You’ll be getting the wood from the Lumberjack’s Hut in level 3. There’s an incomplete Mining Shed on level 5.

There’s a skeleton on level 4 here, just ahead of the ladder. You’ll have to place a stopper or a signboard on top of the ladder to make sure no Craftlings go ahead towards the skeleton. Or you can get a pitchfork early by building a Training Spot and defeating the skeleton early on.

Use the balloons to send wood down to finish building the Mining Shed. Once that’s complete, you can use the lift next to it to send the Craftling carrying the stone to level 4. Use the Cargo Lift there to send the materials further upwards. Keep doing so until the resources finally reach the Lumber Mill.

You can turn off the Sapling Farm and the Lumberjack’s Hut if you don’t need wood. Having these structures continue to operate needlessly will consume gold, and it’s essential to manage that in the early game.

Setting Up A Training Spot

You’ll need soldiers to fight off the few skeletons in this area. Set up a training spot near the Town Hall. There’s plenty of space here. You can also use the Dynamite to destroy the trees to open up more free space.

Set up one vegetable bed here to produce carrots. Once you’ve got the pitchforks, you can open the pathways leading to the skeletons and get rid of them.

Its important that you do so early on because you’ll need the gold. Carry the bones and build a market to sell these bones as soon as possible. Each bone gives 30 gold, and that’s more than enough to fund your entire campaign in this area.

Keep in mind that you’ll have to set up multiple Cargo Lifts and Cargo Balloons to transfer materials from each level to the next.

Working Towards Producing Iron

There’s an Iron Mine foundation already set on level 4 of this area. However, the Iron Mine requires a pickaxe and meat to produce iron ore.

You’ll have to set up a wheat farm, a well, and a chicken coop to produce the materials that you don’t currently have. For these structures, you’ll have to upgrade your Town Hall to level 4.

Send at least 4 wooden planks to the Town Hall to upgrade it. Once it’s upgraded, you’ll get two more spells. You can now move any building with a spell, as well as create custom terrain.

The upgrade also unlocks all the required buildings for this stage. You should then set up a wheat farm on level 4, as well as a chicken coop. You’ll also have to send more Craftlings down there, so set up a few extra homes.

You can also set up a worker’s outpost, and it will automatically equip one of your Craftlings with a Hammer for a bowl of food, which can be crafted at a kitchen. It isn’t necessary to complete the objective, but the checklist asks you to do so.

Producing Iron

Iron Mine and Chicken Coop require a pickaxe and an axe, respectively. Neither of these materials can be transported via a Cargo Lift. You’ll have to place a Lumberjack’s Hut and a Mining Shed near the Iron Mine and the Chicken Coop buildings.

You can also use the spell to move the buildings down here, but that will affect your wood production. The Farm also needs water from the Well, so build it. Once you have all the materials ready, you’ll be producing iron, though a little slowly.

Transport the iron back to the top using the Cargo Lifts. Now, you can either build a path using crates or destroy a part of the terrain to make the castle accessible.

Completing The Castle

Once the Castle is accessible, you can then start transporting resources to it. You’ll still need five spears to complete the construction.

You’ll have to set up a Small Armory to craft spears. Spears require a wooden plank and a pitchfork to be produced. Deliver the planks to the Small Armory, and for the pitchfork, drop it on a nearby Craftling, and they will carry it to the Armory.

Once the spears have been produced, you’ll have to use the same method to deliver them to the castle. Just drop it on a nearby Craftling, and they can carry it to the castle to complete the construction process. Once the castle is complete, this will end the current stage.
