Crimson Desert – Chapter 7: Homecoming Walkthrough

Crimson Desert

After you freed Calphade from the Black Bears in Crimson Desert, it seems they have not stopped their menacing behavior and have moved on to another location.

Pailune now needs your help, and the Greymanes are willing to provide any support necessary to put a stop to this gang.

Dawn Mist

At your camp, you need to follow your comrade on horseback, and you will arrive at a burned house. As soon as you go to the middle of it, you will be attacked by Black Bears, so defeat all of them.

Head to the dragon head statue on the left side and interact with it. You will find a letter that was hidden there. Open your inventory, go to your quest items, select Beighen Situation Report, and read it.

Northwest of the burned house lies the town of Beighen, so make your way there. It seems the people of the village do not treat the Greymanes with the respect they deserve, especially since they are coming to help, which only makes things more difficult for us.

Here you will find Yann and Duane waiting for you. When you speak to them, you will learn that your objective here is to track down the Jackals.

However, you need more allies for this task, so you must meet Naira and Andrew, who are just ahead near the farm. They will also mention the strange atmosphere in the area.

Andrew will mention a keyword that will help you, which is eavesdrop. This you might need later.

According to the letter, we now know that Torstein and the Blue Fangs did not give up hope and were secretly preparing to help retake Pailune.

This is why you need to speak to Torstein in order to inform him about your support.

Meet Torstein

The quest marker will lead you to an underground facility where you can use a trapdoor to enter. Either you can unlock this door using a key, or eavesdrop on people’s conversations and then speak to the guard at the entrance.

In our case, we had access to the trapdoor because we obtained the key, so we have not tested the other method ourselves. You will have quest markers on two specific people talking, and you need to eavesdrop on their conversation.

Then, go and speak to the guard at the entrance and choose the following dialogue options:

  1. Mysterious Faction within Beighen
  2. Lie: Blue Fangs
  3. Leader of the Blue Fangs
  4. Lie: Jian
  5. For the final clue
  6. Leader of the Blue Fangs
  7. Lie: Torstein

After you meet with Torstein, he will confirm that they are trying to reclaim Pailune from the Black Bears. However, their current priority is to rescue the captives they have tracked down.

Rekindled Hope

Head back to the surface and you will find a soldier waiting for you.

Ride together on horseback, and he will take you as close as possible before pointing out the beacon location where the captives are held.

Continue the journey on your own and head toward the beacon. Here, you will find a group of enemies, so defeat them all.

As you reach the entrance of the beacon, a strong enemy will be guarding it, and you must defeat it.

After eliminating all enemies, climb up the beacon and light it using a fire arrow. This will send a smoke signal to Torstein, signaling the start of the counteroffensive.

Podium Of Resolve

Make your way back to Torstein’s office and wait for the right moment to speak to him, as you will receive a prompt to do so. Here, Torstein and the Greymanes will discuss the plan.

The goal is to retake Pailune, but it will not be easy. Both the leader of the Black Bears, Myurdin, and the leader of the Jackals, Ludvig, have many members surrounding the capital.

He will outline the course of the plan, explaining where to attack and the order of striking their weaknesses, and it is finally time to set things right.

Outside the office, Torstein will give a speech to the people to encourage them for the fight.

Torstein also wants to grant you a special, unique weapon that he asks you to retrieve from his quarters.

Head back to the basement area and enter the secret room, where you will find a sword that you can take. After picking up the sword, return to Torstein.

Dawnrise

Torstein wants to ride with you to the entrance of the fortress. However, before you go inside to begin the plan, he will mention that he sent Shane, a scout, to Pailune, but there has been no word from him.

Shane is a friend of Kliff, so he decides to search for him first. Now follow the objective marker until you reach a red hut.

Go inside, and you will find Black Bears there. Kliff will silently eliminate them, after which Oongka, Yann, and Duane will follow.

Find Shane

Kliff will send the others to set up the explosives while he investigates for any clues about Shane’s whereabouts. As soon as the cutscene finishes, you will receive the Jackals attire, which you can equip.

This serves as camouflage, allowing you to blend in among them without causing trouble. However, keep in mind that if you attack anyone or do anything suspicious, you will be attacked immediately.

Equip the Jackals disguise and then head to the designated area. You will find another house, and inside you will see Shane wounded while Oongka fights the enemy. It seems Shane was injured during his mission.

Inside the house, you need to find the bomb. In the left corner, you will find some barrels and a dead body.

Move all of these aside to reveal a hidden trapdoor. Open it, and you will be able to carry the bomb on your back.

With the bomb secured, head toward the harbor and place it on the boat there.

Once everything is set, move to the hut to the north for safety and then send the signal to your comrades. This will alert them to detonate the explosives and begin the attack.

Reclamation

It is time to attack and reclaim Pailune. Alongside your comrades, you need to defeat every single enemy that comes your way. You will have a percentage meter on the left side of the screen showing how many enemies remain.

Once it reaches zero, you will be able to access the fortress where Ludvig is hiding. It is time to go and take care of him.

Defeat Ludvig

Ludvig has two phases that you need to go through. The first phase is his human form, which is fairly easy. He uses dual swords and has lightning attacks, so any equipment or food that provides Lightning Resistance is highly recommended here.

He also moves frequently around the arena and can dodge your attacks easily, so keeping an eye on him at all times is necessary.

One of his basic blade combos has him dash toward you and execute a flurry of sword attacks imbued with lightning. You can easily parry this combo and counterattack.

Another attack is ranged, where he steps back and charges several lightning projectiles that can hit and stun you if you do not avoid them.

It is crucial to either block or dodge, otherwise they can deal heavy damage and leave you vulnerable to further hits.

After you deplete his first health bar, Ludvig will transform into his awakened form. In this second phase, he becomes more aggressive, moves even faster, and gains new attacks.

He can throw lightning bolts at you twice in quick succession that can stun you, and he also wields a lightning greatsword that performs slashes which release waves in a straight line.

These attacks are better dodged than guarded because they can quickly drain your stamina.

It is best to have Nature’s Snare unlocked, as it can help you deflect most of Ludvig’s projectiles, but it consumes a large amount of Spirit, so keep that in mind.

You need to approach the fight patiently, maintain enough health and stamina, and of course use properly upgraded gear.

Resolution

After you defeat Ludvig and Kliff is about to finish him off, Duane stops him, suggesting that you can get more information from Ludvig instead of just killing him.

Of course, this proves to be a foolish decision, and the consequences appear almost immediately. The moment Kliff steps out of the room, Duane loses focus and allows Ludvig to escape.

There is nothing to do here except continue with the task at hand and pursue Ludvig later.

Decisive Battle

Given your success in this battle, Torstein is confident that you can strike the Black Bears at Silverwolf Mountain and settle the score with Myurdin. Everyone is excited, as they have personal vendettas to resolve.

The battle will take place during the night, so the Greymanes take the time to rest and restock, ensuring they are in the best possible shape for the fight.

Make your way toward the bridge, where you will find the Greymane forces facing off against the Black Bears; it is about to begin.

After a few words, the fight starts and the two sides clash. Everyone will be engaged in combat against the Black Bears, including you, but your allies will be separated, and you need to check on them.

You will receive one objective after another, six times, to check on all your comrades in this order: Andrew, Naira, Duane, Oongka, Yann, and Shane.

There is nothing specific you need to do here; you can skip the fighting. Simply reach their location, the short cutscene will play, and then move on to the next objective.

After checking on all six of them, it is time to liberate the Ashclaw slave camp. This means you must defeat every enemy in the camp until the meter reaches zero. Continue working your way to the fortress at the top of the mountain, where Myurdin awaits.

Defeat Myurdin

It’s finally time again to face Myurdin, the enemy who killed you at the beginning of the game, so you can imagine the rage building inside Kliff.

Myurdin’s first phase is fairly straightforward. He primarily uses a grab attack that slams your body to the ground and a sword combo. This time, you will want equipment or items with Fire Resistance, as he deals fire damage.

Blocking his sword attacks is relatively easy, but the grab attack requires a dodge, which can be tricky.

Heavy attacks are your best option for offense, as they quickly build up the stagger meter.

After depleting Myurdin’s first health bar, a cutscene will play showing Kliff gaining the upper hand, but the fight is far from over. Myurdin jumps back into the arena, now surrounded by lava, and refuses to give up.

In this second phase, he becomes more aggressive and uses additional fire attacks that can burn you if you are not careful.

Myurdin primarily relies on powerful slam attacks that cover wide areas, so you need to keep moving constantly. At times, he briefly warps to reposition before slamming repeatedly, summoning fiery bears that charge toward you.

He can also pull molten lava from the ground and follow it with continuous slams aimed at your position. Dodging to either side makes these attacks easier to counter.

The Twist

After you defeat Myurdin and are about to finish him off, Ludvig comes from behind and pushes you off a cliff, saving Myurdin. This fall deals significant damage to you.

When you wake up, you find yourself in a bed with Oongka tending to you at your side. He urges you to take the rest you need while he tracks Ludvig to seek revenge on your behalf.

Twisted Fate

For the rest of this chapter, you will take control of Oongka, who has a very different combat style than Kliff, so you may want to get used to it.

Make your way to your comrades and speak to them. It seems they have gathered leads on Ludvig’s whereabouts. Follow the objective marker, and here you will find an old man terrified for his life.

He explains that he has seen Ludvig and urges you to follow his tracks to find him. Oongka does not have a lantern to sense tracks, but he can use the Blinding Light from his weapon to reveal them.

Follow the traces, and you will reach a small camp to the south where Ludvig is located. It is time to settle things once and for all.

Defeat One-Armed Ludvig

Despite having only one arm, Ludvig still manages to hold his ground quite well. The fight is fairly easy, but the real challenge here is that you are not fighting as Kliff—you are controlling Oongka, who has a completely different playstyle.

Oongka wields an axe and does not have a shield, which makes his approach more aggressive and tank-like. You will need to familiarize yourself with his skill set and attack patterns.

As for Ludvig, he is in a weakened state and primarily uses his lightning greatsword. His combos can be easily dodged or parried. He still deals lightning damage, but since Oongka has no specialized equipment, you will need to manage it as best as you can.

Return to Pailun

After you finally kill Ludvig once and for all, return to Pailune and reunite with the Greymanes there. You will find them standing by Jian’s grave, praying and renewing their resolve.

This cutscene will conclude the chapter.
