Crimson Desert – Chapter 9: The Sage Of The Desert Walkthrough (Part 1)

Crimson Desert

After the witches take Kliff in to heal him following his encounter with Caliburn in the previous chapter of Crimson Desert, you find yourself meditating among the Pororins.

Out of nowhere, you hear a man’s voice speaking to you in riddles. It seems he wants you to find him, but you have no idea who he is or where to begin looking.

The Calling

You can only see the witch sisters to tell them about what happened, so make your way to them by following the objective marker.

You will find them standing on a hill, and they will be happy to see you healed.

Kliff will tell them the story about the strange voice calling him. Maegu seems to recognize that this is a call to prove yourself and put you on trial. They can help you get closer, but the path will remain for you to complete.

Follow the witches as they take you to the entrance of a cave. It seems the one who called you can be found behind it, toward the Crimson Desert (it seems the game title is a location name, as there is a desert after all!).

This is where the witches will have to leave, and you need to continue the path on your own. From here, just progress deeper into the cave and make your way toward the objective marker.

Purify The Golden Statue

This will lead you to an underground temple where you will find a huge statue sitting in front of you. Your task here is to purify the statue. You can do so by using the Focused Force Palm and then hitting the glowing orb with it.

Once you purify the statue, the altar will be restored. The four smaller golden statues, each one of them will have an objective that is carved into its ancient stone.

You need to go to the bottom of each small golden statue and interact with the table there to reveal its secrets.

Doing so will unlock four main objectives that you need to pursue and continue in order to progress through the chapter.

You can complete them in any order you want, and in our walkthrough, we will go with the order we did.

Veiled Witch

The tablet will notify you of a sanctum, but you have very little information about it. That is why you need to consult someone who can give you more details.

Head toward the objective marker, which will lead you to a tower. Climb up to the top, and here you will find a moving painting. This is a sorcerer who will give you information about the Black Witch.

She will direct you toward the sanctum and ask you to restore its power. This is the Sanctum of Mortification, and it is located just north of Demeniss.

Make your way there, and as soon as you approach the temple, you will get a cutscene where White Crown will appear and activate the source of power inside, but it still needs to be restored.

Restore The Power At The Sanctum Of Mortification

If you investigate the device, you will notice that there are two pieces missing: one of the pillars is missing its sphere, and one of the cubes is missing.

Head to the back of the sanctum, and you will find some vines on the wall. You need to burn them using a fire arrow or Blinding Flash. This will reveal a secret window on the left side.

Behind the window is the missing cube, so use your Axiom Force to hold it and then seal it in the Kuku Pot (pressing triangle on a PlayStation controller).

Now, from here, climb up from the left side of the building and then take the stairs down to the right.

You will be able to see the sphere. Do the same as you did before, use Axiom Force to hold it and then seal it in the Kuku Pot.

With both items at hand, head back to the device location. Open your inventory and go to your Kuku Pot. Inside, you will find both the cube and the core sphere; discard both of them.

Use Axiom Force to pick up the sphere and put it on top of the pillar missing it. Climb up to the top of it, then jump and use Force Palm to stick it into place.

Now the cube needs to go at the bottom of the device. Look at the left side, and you will find its opening. Using Axiom Force, put it near the hole there and then push it using Force Palm.

If you have unlocked Force Current, there is no need to use Force Palm. Just reposition the object, then activate Force Current to lock it securely in place.

This will restore the power of the Sanctum. White Crow will appear in front of you as she notices the sanctum is restored. This means that Hexe Marie is more vulnerable and you can track her whereabouts.

However, there is one more thing standing between you and her, and this is her totems that are scattered around her sanctum.

Destroy The Totems

Previously, you could not get closer to Hexe Sanctuary, even if you tried to go inside, you would be banished by some crows, but now you can reach it.

Here, there are multiple enemies, not necessarily to defeat, but more importantly, there are four totems scattered around that you need to destroy.

All four totems will be marked on your map, and each can be found in a different direction: one to the north, one to the south, one to the east, and one to the west.

Here is a map location showing all their locations and another picture to show you how they look. You can destroy them using Force Palm, charged arrow shot, or just sword attacks.

With all four totems destroyed, the Black Witch will appear at the center of Hexe Sanctuary, and you will spawn just at the entrance.

Defeat Hexe Marie, The Black Witch

The Black Witch has two health bars that you need to deplete, and she is not too tough to deal with because she has only a few attacks that you need to watch out for.

Her primary attack is shooting crows in a straight line toward you; you can easily dodge this attack by moving to either side.

She can also summon multiple enemies to aid her in combat. Luckily, all these summoned enemies can die with one attack, so you want to focus on them first as soon as they spawn.

Timing your openings can be tricky because Hexe Marie teleports frequently around the arena, so you want to attack her as soon as she finishes her crow-shooting attack.

After you deplete the first health bar, she will enter her second phase. This does not add any new attacks, but she becomes more aggressive, throws more crows your way, and summons enemies more frequently.

Using heavy attacks on her seems to build the stagger meter quickly, leaving her vulnerable to a strong attack.

Just as you are about to defeat Hexe Marie, she will disappear and leave crows behind her. This will complete the Veiled Witch objective.

Six Statues And The Beast

For the next objective, we went to the Serpent Marsh following the Morning Fog subobjective. The island is to the south of Demeniss, so make your way there.

Here, you will find a temple; go inside and speak to the Chief Monk kid. He needs your help in restoring the pensive statues and putting them back together.

Repair The First Pensive Statue

When you make your way to the first pensive statue, you will encounter a tiger-masked figure who speaks in riddles, and then he tries to attack you. This will not be a boss fight, not yet at least, but he will leave you for now.

Back to the statue: if you take a look at it, you will notice it is missing two hands.

The first hand is located just to the left of it. Grab it using Axiom Force and then align it to the statue’s right hand.

Once you position it correctly, use Force Current on it or climb to it and use Force Palm to attach it.

The second hand is just in the opposite direction of the statue; you will see it sitting near an entrance. Pick it up using Axiom Force and then align it to the other hand of the statue.

Activate Force Current on it, or scale it and use Force Palm to attach it.

This will restore the pensive statue, and you will need to repeat the same process on the two other statues.

Repair The Second Pensive Statue

Make your way to the next statue on top of the island that spawns. For the second pensive statue, you need to assemble it from the beginning.

The body part is located toward the right on the cliff below the top. Use Axiom Force to pick it up and then put it on the pedestal with the body facing the stone lanterns.

Hit it with Force Palm or use the Force Current skill to secure it in place.

The first hand is located just to the left side of the cliff. Use Axiom Force to pick it up and then align it to the statue’s right hand.

Use Force Current on it or climb to it and use Force Palm to attach it in place.

The second hand is located on the cliff below, just on the opposite side of the statue.

The same process applies here: use Axiom Force to move it to the left statue hand, then secure it in its place using Force Palm or Force Current.

Repair The Third Pensive Statue

Now there is one more pensive statue that you need to take care of, so make your way to it. This will be at the bottom of the new island that spawns.

The first hand is directly in front of the statue, so pick it up with Axiom Force and attach it to the statue’s left hand.

The second hand is on the platform across from the statue’s location. Axiom Force will not reach it, so you need to fly over there, then move it as far as you can.

Don’t worry, it will not drop as the item will remain floating.

Now simply go back to the statue platform, pick up the hand, and attach it to the remaining statue hand. Don’t forget to use Force Current or Force Palm to complete it.

Report To The Chief Monk

Now that all three pensive statues are restored, it is time to head back to the Chief Monk and inform him about it. During your conversation with him, Kliff will mention his interaction with the tiger-masked figure.

For some reason, the Chief Monk wants you to complete training courses to “seek enlightenment,” which he believes will help the tiger-masked guide him to the right path. It is just a tedious, annoying task that you need to complete honestly.

Train At The Jijeon Temple Training Ground

You will have three objectives, each of which represents one of the Jijeon training ground courses.

This “course” is basically you parkouring around and collecting green orbs before the timer runs out. If you fail, fall down, or miss one, you will have to start over.

Each of these courses begins with a wooden gate; as soon as you approach it, it will open, and once you pass through it, the course will begin. You need to collect all green orbs on the way and reach the end gate.

It is quite easy to complete, as you just need to platform basically, sometimes using precision jumps, climbing walls, or even gliding. After you complete all three, it is time to head back to the temple and speak to the tiger-masked figure.

Defeat T’rukan The Ascended

T’rukan has one health bar, and he fights using his fists. Despite his size, he is quite fast around the arena and attacks in quick sessions.

T’rukan has a mixture of punches and kicks that he releases in a quick flurry, and one ranged attack where he shoots purple bolts at you that track you. You can easily guard those.

Given that most of his combos are quick, you will really want to parry them. Doing so will interrupt his combo and leave him vulnerable to your attacks.

Alternatively, backing up when he does his combo and then circling around behind him can work, but it is trickier.

If you find yourself caught up in one of his combos, you will have to heal as soon as you are hit and then dodge away, since T’rukan can hit hard.

Overall, he is another easy fight that you should manage with upgraded gear. After you defeat him, you need to collect the artifact from the door ahead.

Enter The Abyss And Achieve Enlightenment

The last step in this objective is to head to the top of the mountain where the Jijeong Temple Pagoda is located. Inside, you will find an Abyss Gate; interact with it to go inside.

At the Abyss, you do not need to repair it or anything like that. All you have to do is go to the upper floor and approach the platform there. Kliff will sit and meditate in ponder for him to achieve enlightenment.

This completes the Six Statues and the Beast objective in chapter 9. The chapter is a long ride, so stick around for part 2 to see the rest unfold.
