Crimson Desert – Chapter 9: The Sage Of The Desert Walkthrough (Part 2)

Crimson Desert

Chapter 9 is a lengthy chapter in Crimson Desert, so we had to split the walkthrough into two parts. In this continuation, you will tackle the two remaining tasks tied to the golden statues, each with its own set of challenges and surprises.

Once those are completed, the path finally leads you to the mysterious man whose strange voice has been calling out to you, revealing secrets that could change everything. Be ready, because this chapter tests both your wit and your courage.

Thinning Blade

The next objective requires you to head to the Spire of the Sun. It will be marked on your map and is located east of Demeniss.

As soon as you approach the spire, you will notice that the gate is closed, and you need to find a way to open it. If you look around, you will find a location where light is reflecting on some mirrors. This is the puzzle that you need to complete.

Complete The Light Puzzle

First Set Of Mirrors

It is better to do this puzzle during the day because you will be able to see the platforms’ locations easily and where they move.

Head to the east, where you will find that the light is already reflecting on the mirrors. Here, you only need to move the one that does not have light on it to the corner. Doing so will direct the light to the second set of mirrors across.

Second Set Of Mirros

Now this is where you need to move a lot of mirrors around, as you need to guide the light to shine on the crystal.

  • First mirror: Move the mirror that is lit by the crystal sideways so it redirects the light to the middle mirror.
  • Middle mirror: The middle mirror will redirect the light to one side. On that side, move the corner mirror so the light from the middle mirror hits it. This corner mirror will then redirect the light to the stationary mirror on the same side, which will bounce the light to the opposite side.
  • Side mirror: On the side where the light now shines, move the next movable mirror so the light hits it.

  • Adjacent mirror: Directly next to the previous mirror, on the same side, is another movable mirror. Move it sideways so the light hits it, and also slide it down the middle groove so it is as close as possible to the previous mirror. This mirror will redirect the light toward the middle mirror, which will then send it toward the back.
  • Back corner mirror: The last movable mirror is in the back corner. Adjust it so the light from the middle mirror hits it. This mirror will direct the light to the stationary mirror in the back row, which will shine it at the crystal in the front row. If the light misses the crystal, slightly wiggle the movable mirror until the light hits the final stationary mirror at the correct angle.

If you find these steps a bit confusing to follow, here is a picture of the final solution, which will make things easy for you.

Successfully doing so will open the door to the spire, and you will be able to get inside.

Enter The Spire Of Sun

Enter the Spire of the Sun, and you will notice that the stairs are not interactable, and there are still lights and mirrors to move. Don’t worry, this one is pretty simple to complete.

All you have to do is redirect the light from one mirror to the next on the upper floor and keep doing so until you reach the top.

For the last mirror at the top, you need to redirect the light to the crystal above.

This will unlock the rooftop of the spire, which will allow you to reach the Abyss Gate at the very top.

At the Abyss, head to the platform in front of you, and you will be stopped by a guy called Goyen. He wants to test your power.

Defeat Goyen

Goyen is basically a mirror of Kliff, so get ready for a fight that feels like looking into a deadly reflection.

He wields a sword and shield, can pull out a bow, and throws the exact same combos you’ve been using, including Force Palm and Spirit skills.

He hits hard, and a few careless mistakes can end you fast, so this is the perfect time to pump up your health and even max it out.

At the end of the day, it’s a pure test of skill: he parries like you, dodges like you, and attacks like you, turning the arena into a duel of “who’s really the best.” Spoiler alert: that’s you, because we believe in you.

After you successfully prove your skill and power to Goyen, he pushes you to pursue the path you have chosen and to never lose yourself. Words from the wise: this will complete Thinning Blade.

Shattered Ties

The final objective that you need to complete of the set of four is Shattered Ties, where you need to face the guardian deity of Urdavah. Make your way to the objective marker.

To your surprise, you will find a wounded dragon, and if you look closely, you will see that there are some spears on its back. Just as Kliff gets closer, the dragon will sense you, and it will wake up and fly away.

Help The Dragon

You need to track down the location of the dragon, and he can be found flying around the Great Gate of Urdavah. Now the objective here is to get on his back, but it can be tricky to track down such a flying creature.

Head to the large bridge of Urdavah, and here you will get a prompt to “Wait”. Doing so will trigger the dragon to spawn at a close distance as he flies toward the bridge where you are.

What you need to do is wait until he gets closer, then glide and use Axiom Force on its body, and press the corresponding button to mount it.

This will definitely take you a few tries before getting on its back, which is why the Wait prompt will always be there to reset the sequence.

Once you are at the back of the dragon, you need to remain in position and hold on to it. The dragon will try to throw you off, but you need to press the corresponding button to hold on.

After some time, you will get the prompt to show you how to remove the spears from its back, which is simply by using Focused Force Palm.

If done correctly, the dragon will be freed from the spears, and Kliff will drop down from its back. The dragon will fly back to Kliff and stand there for a short while as a token of thanks, and then he will fly away.

Enlightenment

Head back to the starting altar where you found the golden statue, and this time a path toward the right side will be accessible to you.

You will come across a round door that you need to demonstrate strength to pass by. What they mean by this is that you need to have a higher level of Health to be able to interact with it. This is because each door tests the required skill before you can pass.

For the first door, you need to have at least level 7 in Health, the red tree, in order to pass it. Two more doors will wait for you, and they are similar.

The second door requires you to demonstrate Spirit, which needs level 6 in the Stamina skill tree, the blue branch.

The third door requires you to demonstrate Vitality, which requires level 6 in Spirit, the green branch.

Tip
In case you don’t have the required level, you can easily reset all your skills using a Faded Abyss Artifact and then reallocate them accordingly to pass the three gates. This is the only way.

This will lead you to a room where the voice’s owner will be waiting for you. This is Master Du, and he wants to test your skills one more time.

Defeat Master Du

Defeat Master Du. He uses a longsword and has two health bars, and he is quick in the arena, so you might find it hard to track him down.

He uses melee combos of sword swings, which you better parry. This is because it will interrupt the whole combo and stun him for a brief moment, giving you a good opening.

He will constantly move around and back up. During this, you can use Spirit Charged in order to slow down and keep track of him.

The one attack you need to watch out for during the first health bar is when Master Du starts jumping between the pillars in the arena fight, and just before he finishes, he jumps at you and attacks, dealing lots of damage.

There is a brief moment where he stops before he attacks, and that should be your timing to know when to dodge it.

The rest of the fight will constantly require you to keep track of him and do your best to parry his attacks.

After you take his first health bar and go to the second, Master Du becomes more aggressive, moves around, and starts teleporting more frequently, but the strategy remains the same.

The only attack you should keep track of is when he charges his hand to shoot three laser beams at you. This attack can potentially stun you and kill you if you’re not careful, and don’t even try to block it.

The best way is to run in a circle so you can evade it or dodge to either side. Make sure you have enough healing items and Palarm Pill to revive yourself during the second phase.

After you beat Master Du, he will still speak in puzzles, but he will ask you to follow him.

Go To The Nest Of Valor

From here, you need to exit the temple and make your way back to the Spire of the Sun. Climb all the way to the top and interact with the gate there to travel to the Abyss.

At the Abyss, you need to activate the skybridge, go to the objective marker, and go through the triangle entrance there. Use Axiom Force on the panel behind and rotate it to the side until it turns blue.

This will activate the skybridge, and you will be able to cross to the other side where Master Du is waiting. You can cross in any way you want: by aerial stab and flight, or climbing.

You will find Master Du waiting in a big round area, so approach him. He will ask you about your knowledge of the Abyss. Kliff just does not know much about the Abyss, as he has only recently found himself connected to it for some reason.

Both White Crow and Alustin will join the conversation and explain things more to Kliff. The important thing is that the door they are standing in front of must be protected, and no one shall open it.

This is exactly what Caliburn wants and is planning, so you need to stop them from doing this.

Return To The Howling Hill

After a long journey far away from home, it is time to go back to your comrades and let them know about the news that you learned. You need to come up with a plan and gather allies that you can count on to help, because it will not be easy.

This will conclude the chapter. The end is closer than you think, and it is time to settle things right.
