The Excavation
As Chapter 2: The Excavation begins, you’ll be approaching the PIT station in the depths of the ocean. Enter the station through the gate, which is between two red lights. As you get inside, the door ahead will be locked.
There’s a control panel in the area. Interact with the control panel to open the door and get inside the station. Once you enter, you’ll find that the station has been attacked by something, and there are no signs of anyone alive.

Head into the control module. You’ll find the control module locked with all the warnings. It appears that there has been a hardware failure. Go downstairs from here.
Downstairs, you’ll find a path blocked by a fungus. It’s different from the regular otherworldly sap you see destroying everything. When you approach the fungus, Key will tell you that it’s okay to interact with it. Noah will pull out his injector and absorb the fungus.

Powering Up The Station
After you’ve used the injector on the fungus, the path will open. Keep going ahead until you arrive in the main hardware room.
You’ll find out that one of the canisters on the hardware has been leaking. If you look closely, the right canister slot is empty.

There’s a canister in the left slot, but it has leaked all the way through. Analyze the canister, and you’ll get the hydrogen module.
Put the hydrogen module in your sonar and press the scan button. You’ll find some canisters with hydrogen in them inside the same room. However, not all the canisters have hydrogen in them. Use the sonar to point out which ones are full.

Pick out these hydrogen-filled canisters and place them in the two slots. You’ll have to take the leaked canister out of the left slot first.
After that, pull the lever on the main hardware panel, and that will be enough to power up the station again. You’ll also get afflicted with a slight corruption for the first time.

Make your way back to the control module upstairs and press the big glowing green button there to power up the station.

Finding The Maze
After you’ve powered up the station, a video by Andrew Marsh will play, where he mentions a maze leading to a city. Interact with all the computers in the module to gather more information.
A door will open in the control module. There are some copper hooks in the shelf nearby, and you can analyze one of them to get the copper frequency.

Next, head out of the PIT station and back into the ocean again. After you’re out, look down, and you’ll see red lights around a hole. Get inside this hole, and you’ll arrive in the maze.
You can use the copper frequency on the sonar to find the correct way in the maze. At first, you’ll encounter a pedestal in the middle of the section. There’s not much you can do here right now, so keep following the copper hooks.

If you go to the section with the fungus from the pedestal section, you’ll find a stone tablet on the floor. You can analyze it to get the Elder Glyph module and also unlock evolution.
You’ll eventually arrive in a section where you’ll find a floating body by following the copper hooks. This one belongs to a researcher named Arif El Fassi.

Keep following the trail for copper hooks, and you’ll find yourself inside an underwater cave. There’s an ancient totem here with Elder Glyphs on it that can increase your capacity for equipping evolutions.

Shortly after, Key will tell you that the station has completed the rebooting process, and you can get there to learn more about the maze. You’ll then have to return to the PIT station.

Investigating The Station
As you enter the control module, check all the computers here for more clues. You’ll also have to search the quarters and everywhere else.
The clues will reveal that an investigator named Anastasia had stolen pieces of the artifact and was trying to escape the station. However, the transfer module is locked due to a drainage issue.

If you go downstairs from the control module, you’ll find a big screen saying that there has been a drainage error. If you look closely, the only issue with drainage is with the Transfer module.

Fixing The Transfer Module’s Drainage System
Check the transfer module drainage pipe next to the error screen. You’ll find out that it’s the only one made out of titanium, while the rest of the pipes are of steel.

Now, you have to analyze a piece of sap. You’ll find many pieces of sap around the station. Those are the gooey green stuff that you find all over the station.

Set the frequency to titanium, and use your sonar to find the storage room with some fresh titanium pipes. Pick one of the pipes.

Now, open the sonar and set the frequency to titanium and the extra-dimensional sap. This combination will allow you to detect the exact piece of pipe that has been blocking the drainage.

Once you find that pipe, replace it with the fresh titanium piece. Now, you have to go back to the drainage error screen. There’s a button here. If you press the button, the drainage will be fixed.

Transfer Module
Enter the transfer module after you’ve fixed the drainage system. As you enter, you’ll find signs of attack here. One of the capsules is still intact.
Interact with the control panel with green lights to pull out the capsule. Here, you’ll find Anastasia’s body. She has passed away, but there’s a voice recorder next to her that can give you more clues.

Now, you have to search the transfer module for more clues. There are several crates here that can be opened. One of the crates to the right has a stone tablet inside it.
Meanwhile, the crate to the left of Anastasia’s capsule has a sample of hybrid mucus. Scan the hybrid mucus and use the sonar to find the footprints of the creature that attacked Anastasia. The footprints lead outside of the station and may lead you to some clues inside the station as well.

Key Card
There’s a storage device on the second floor of the station with some artifact pieces inside it. However, you need the correct key card to unlock it. Judging from the clues you’ve gathered so far, it’s obvious that the required key card belongs to Anastasia.
To find the key card, you’ll have to go to the second floor of the PIT station. Here, you’ll find the rooms of many researchers. One of the rooms is filled with strange drawings, while the other room, opposite to it, has a guitar on the bed.

You’ll find a keycard on the table in this room. This one doesn’t belong to Anastasia, but you can scan it to find the other key card via the sonar.
Use the key card’s frequency. You’ll find one coming from Anastasia’s room on the second floor. The path here is blocked by some rubble, but you can jump over it all.

Once you’re inside Anastasia’s room, open one of the cabinets, and you’ll find her key card there. There’s also a drawing of the complete artifact on the table.

After you’ve picked up her key card, go to the lab on the same floor and use the key card on the storage device. You’ll be able to get the two pieces of artifacts from there. Don’t forget to scan the artifact because you need to find the final piece of it.

Reassembling The Artifact
Now, from the clues you’ve gathered, it was stated that half of the artifact is with Arif. So, you’ll have to go back to the maze and proceed to the section where you find his body.
Use the sonar with the Astral Stone frequency to find the remaining piece of the artifact. Once you’ve got all three pieces, head to the main section with the pedestal.

If you’re having a hard time locating the pedestal, it is also made out of astral stone, so you can easily find it by using the sonar.
Follow Anastasia’s drawing and keep placing the artifact parts on the pedestal one by one. Once the artifact is complete, the sap will originate from the pedestal and spread all over the place. However, keep in mind that assembling the totem will increase your corruption at the end of the chapter.

Finding A Way Out Of The Maze
Now, you have to follow the sap to find the way to the ancient city. The sap will lead you through the maze by guiding you through each tunnel.
However, one of the tunnels has the water pressure going against you and will try to push you out of the way. Here, you have to stick closely to the sap as you make your way to the other side of the tunnel.

If you stay close enough to the sap and the walls of the tunnel, you won’t be blown away by the water pressure. Keep going, and you’ll eventually arrive at the city, where the third chapter will begin.

Alternate Way To Get Out Of The Maze
While you can assemble the cursed totem and get out of the maze by following the sap, you don’t necessarily need to do it.
Once you’ve found a sample of hybrid mucus inside the PIT station, you’ll be able to see the footprints of a creature, both inside and outside of the PIT station.

This is likely the same creature that harmed Anastasia in the Transfer Module. Keep in mind that you can find the hybrid mucus samples in the lab with the artifact pieces, or inside a crate in the transfer module.
If you keep following the footprints, it will lead you to the maze and through each tunnel until you reach the city.

Furthermore, in the tunnel with the strong currents, you have to stick close to the footprints to avoid the pressure and get to the other side of it.
Completing the chapter this way, instead of assembling the cursed totem on the pedestal inside the maze, will decrease your corruption.
