DarkSwitch – Chapter 2 Walkthrough

DarkSwitch Walkthrough

DarkSwitch features a vertical city-builder experience in a survival theme, where you have to survive constant threats while making use of the limited resources and settlers available at your disposal. In some cases, you’ll have to think of new strategies to deal with the enemies that appear stronger than anything you’ve seen before.

Secrets Of The Ancients

After completing Chapter 1, your first skywalker should be in the skies now. You can then click on the airship icon on the right side of the screen to open the world map.

You can also open the world map by clicking on the star to the left at the bottom of the screen. Once you’re in the open world, you have to find the Cursed Ruins region.

All you have to do is send your skywalker to this region. You can then check out the various points of interest here. Not that you can only check out the green points of interest with an exploration skywalker.

You’ll need a cargo skywalker to interact with blue points of interest, and a combat skywalker to deal with the red ones. One of the points of interest in the Cursed Ruins will be the Ignalis Outpost. Send your exploration skywalker there.

Finding The Luminaris

After you’ve explored the Ignalis Outpost, a new point of interest will show up on the map called Ruins of the Ancients. Send your skywalker there.

Furthermore, as you set sail for the ruins, a quest point will show up from where your skywalker just departed in the Cursed Ruins.

When you interact with it, it will tell you that an unidentified Skywalker belonging to Sorago has been approaching you with a distress signal.

You can make a choice here. I allowed the Sorago Skywalker to dock. A cutscene followed the choice where Captain Ginoa boarded Elaran’s Skywalker.

She appears to be friendly. You can either give her resources and Elaran’s coordinates or decide not to trust her. I gave her the coordinates.

Once the ruins have been found and explored, you’ll have to find another Ruins of the Ancients, but this time, it will be in the Valley of Ghosts region.

Approach this Valley of Ghosts region and find the Ruins of the Ancients. Explore them with your skywalker. Before you can jump into the ruins, you’ll get an event where you have to decide where to approach the ruins from because a strange spire is in the way.

You can approach the spire from any direction, but I picked Northwest because it was the option Captain Ginoa recommended, and everything went smoothly after that.

Once the exploration is complete, the skywalker will find and bring a spherical object back from their expedition.

The skywalkers take time to go from one place to the other. Make sure you’re not neglecting your settlement by constantly checking back on it while you explore the world map.

Activating The Luminaris

Now that you’ve got the spherical object, it’s time to recover the Luminaris components that were onboard the Sunburst.

Click on the wreckage of the Sunburst near the great tree. You’ll have to assign some workers to it. They’ll begin recovering the components.

Meanwhile, you’ll have to go to the Engineerium tree and research the Luminaris Technology, which is in the Defense category.

After the Luminaris has been researched, you’ll get a weapon that can focus the power of the Sun Seed to damage wraiths and even heal corrupted buildings.

The Luminaris consumes Solar on use, so make sure you’re stocked up on that. Valfidis wants to check out the new weapon, so you can click on the purification icon and aim the lens at the wraith in the fields.

You have to keep the rays on the wraith for a while before it crumples and is defeated. In time, you’ll be able to research more advanced components and utilize the Luminaris in different ways.

Sorago’s Threat

While you’re preparing the Luminaris, you may receive the second letter from Sorago. This one comes from Valfidis’ wife, the current archon of Sorago, Eklara.

You have three options to reply to the letter. I picked the option for Valfidis to remind her of what once united them.

After the Luminaris is active, your settlement will be frequently attacked by different types of monsters. Some dark moths attack the Flameguards. You can deal with them by placing Fortified Watchtowers or sending your scouts to get rid of them.

Lullaby and the guzzlers also attack your settlements once in a while, but they can also be dealt with by the Fortified Watchtowers or scouts. For wraith attacks, you’ll have to deploy the Luminaris.

Later on, a Stagspider will also attack you from the shroud. You’ll have to utilize the scouts and the fortified watchtowers to bring it down as well.

Captain Ginoa

On Day 21, Captain Ginoa’s skywalker finally landed in Elaran. Your population might be growing a lot by now, so you’ll have to build more forest houses. Make sure each of the buildings falls under the range of a Flameguard.

You may also have to set up some more Cooking Houses and improve the cooking technology through the Engineerium to increase the production of food rations. You’ll need those for the Skywalker expeditions, as well as scout missions.

Later on Day 21, some refugees from Sorago arrived in Elaran. You can choose to accept the refugees, send them back, or seize their skywalker by force.

I went with accepting the refugees into Elaran. On Day 23, Captain Ginoa will find a spy from Sorago. You can choose to send him back to Sorago, lock him up, or end him.

I picked the option to send him back to Sorago, which resulted in Captain Ginoa scolding Valfidis.

Light Spires

Later on Day 23, the settlers will tell you that the flameguards are no longer enough to keep the shroud at bay. You’ll have to utilize the power of the Luminaris in a way to deal with these wraiths on the shroud on nights where its especially strong.

You’ll have to research the Light Spire technology. Place three Light Spires on the ground. Make sure they’re properly spaced so they cover most of the buildings.

The Light Spires consume Solar, so don’t cover the entire settlement with them, as Solar is much more limited than wood. Only activate these spires when the fog is too powerful for Flameguards.

On Day 24, Captain Ginoa will join your settlement as a hero. This will also mark the completion of Chapter 2.
