DarkSwitch – Chapter 5 Walkthrough

DarkSwitch Walkthrough

DarkSwitch is a survival city-builder where you have to build and manage a settlement on a Great Tree, surrounded by a mysterious fog. This fog is home to monsters and diseases, and it continuously gets more intense until it has swallowed the entire civilization. You’ll have to find a way to protect your settlement against this fog and save as many people as possible.

Rebuilding Elaran

After the last shroudsurge, most of the buildings lay damaged all across the settlement, and the fear level of your settlers will likely be quite high.

You have to repair the damaged buildings, and you’ll also have to do everything you can to bring down the fear of your settlers.

You can reduce fear by completing side quests, building healing quarters and their upgrades, and some nodes on the world map also allow you to reduce fear if you’ve made the correct choices.

Furthermore, keep exploring the world map with your skywalkers and try to build some outposts and invest in them.

Dome Of Light

On Day 60, Doctor Neammos will reveal the plans for a Dome of Light that he plans to set up around Elaran by building multiple Reflectors.

Now, you have to mine 300 units of Crystalline, which can be obtained from the upgraded Solar Extractors. You’ll also need to build four Reflectors at designated locations.

If you open the build menu and select the Reflector, you’ll see yellow spots marked with a hammer on them. You have to build the Reflectors at these locations.

It may require you to destroy or relocate some structures if you’ve built something else on the spot.

Captain Ginoa’s Determination

On Day 61, Valfidis will order to shut down the glow from Sorago. Captain Ginoa gets angry at him and asks him about it. After this event, you’ll be able to freely use the Luminaris inside the settlement.

On Day 62, Ginoa will ask Valfidis if he intends to share the Dome of Light with other settlements and outposts. However, Valfidis refuses.

Ginoa wants to build a Light Network that can protect as many settlements as possible. However, neither Doctor Neammos nor Valfidis is on board with the idea because it might put too much strain on the Sun Seed.

After the conversation, Valfidis retreats to his quarters and won’t be available as a hero. Doctor Neammos will repeatedly try to tell Ginoa to stop her efforts, but she refuses to back down.

Sorago’s Fate

Once you’ve built four of the Reflectors on designated locations and gathered 300 units of Crystalline, you’ll have to build 7 more Reflectors around the Great Tree.

All of these Reflectors must be placed in the designated locations. If there’s any other building in the way, get rid of it.

Once that is done, you’ll have to send a skywalker to Sorago to check up on the situation there. This skywalker will have to go to the Route to Sorago node in the Gray Wastes region.

After the Skywalker reaches the location, you’ll have to interact with the node. This will reveal that Sorago is still standing, even if barely.

Network Of Outposts

On Day 64, Captain Ginoa takes control of Elaran by holding the Sun Seed hostage. Doctor Neammos also finally agrees to go along with her ideals.

The next quest gives you three days to research the Outpost Equipment technology and to include a total of five outposts in the light network. It is a time-limited quest, and you have to achieve it before the next shroudsurge.

You can find the Outpost Equipment in the world exploration category of the Engineerium tree. Once you’ve completed the research, you can send a cargo skywalker to outpost locations on the world map.

You don’t have to form alliances by giving resources. It is possible to just send a cargo skywalker to a suitable location for an outpost, and the settlers will build one there.

Activating a new outpost removes the cargo skywalker from your command. So, you’ll have to build at least five cargo skywalkers in this phase if you don’t have any allied outposts.

After that, you’ll have to upgrade the outpost thrice. Once the outpost reaches development level 4 by developing the prism anchor upgrade, you’ll be able to connect it to the light network.

A small message will show up on the outpost menu, which says that the outpost is ready for network connection. Once all five of them are ready, they’ll automatically form a light network.

Black Moon Era

On Day 67, the shroudsurge finally arrives, and this time it’s tall enough to engulf entire great trees. The reports suggest that this fog will last for an entire age.

Luckily, you won’t have to worry about it much, as the Dome of Light will protect you. Captain Ginoa makes sure that all the outposts and settlements are protected by the domes.

Everything runs smoothly, but on Day 68, the domes on other outposts will suddenly fail. The settlers report to Ginoa that the Sun Seed is failing.

As a last resort, Ginoa finally accepts that there’s no way to save everyone, but she wants to take everyone into Elaran itself.

The Final Trial

On the morning of Day 71, a pack of monsters will approach Elaran. You have to protect the settlement for a limited amount of time.

The Dome of Light manages to keep most of the enemies out, and you can also engage enemy packs on the world map via combat skywalkers.

If you manage to hold the enemies for the allotted time, Elaran will survive. Neammos congratulates Ginoa for her efforts because she did manage to save Elaran. You will then achieve the Peace Under The Veil Ending.
