Welcome to the fourth part of our walkthrough for Death Howl.
We’ve covered three realms by now. But there’s still one more Realm left along the southern edge of the Spirit World. In this walkthrough, we’ll cover Realm of Hostile Plains as Ro’s quest to find her son continues.
For more information on the game, check out their official website here.

Realm of Hostile Plains Overview
The Realm of Hostile Plains can only be accessed via the Realm of Distorted Hollows. It consists of the following zones:
- Moors of Withered Memories
- Valley of Desolation
- Cadaver Dunes
You can enter the zone either through the Moors of Withered Memories or the Valley of Desolation. We’ll be going through the Moors of Withered Memories since that zone is much easier and will give us enough crafting materials to build a solid deck for the fourth Realm.

To do that, you’ll want to fast travel to the southern Sacred Grove of the Forest of Howling Shadows. From here, head south till you reach the entrance of the Realm of Hostile Plains.
Moors of Withered Memories
Unlocking the First Sacred Grove and Map

As you enter the zone, you’ll notice the skull of a large bird with feathers up ahead. There’s a Spirit encounter just past it. Defeat the Spirits.

Follow the path forward after completing the encounter. You’ll spot a strange Seed on the right side path. This is an NPC Spirit that will give you a quest. For now, defeat the next Spirit encounter that’s blocking your way forward.

The first Sacred Grove for the zone can be found just past the encounter. Activate it and take a look at your map.

Note the location of all the encounters in the region. There are two Nests and a cave entrance that’s available here. The two exits lead to the two zones of this Realm as marked in the image above.
There are also two other Sacred Groves here that you can unlock.
How to Complete the Uninvited Sorrows Side Quest

When you’re ready to move on, go back to the strange Seed that you saw earlier. It’s just to the north of the Sacred Grove that you just unlocked.

The Seed will ask you to remove all the Uninvited Spirits from the Moorlands and give you the Ox Heart quest card. This is an extremely powerful card that lets you heal 5 HP whenever you use it. But you can only use it in the Moors of Withered Memories.

As far as side quests in Death Howl go, Uninvited Sorrows is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is go around the map and eliminate all the Spirits on your map. You can’t use the Sacred Grove at any point since it will also revive the Spirits.
The good thing about this quest is that you’ll also be able to unlock all the other Sacred Groves and loot in the region while eliminating the Spirits.

After defeating all the Spirits in the map, return to the Seed and talk to it. The quest will be completed, and you’ll receive the Crystalized Ox Heart Totem as a reward.
| Crystalized Ox Heart (Totem) | End of Battle: Heal up to 3 Health lost this battle. |
This isn’t as good as the Ox Heart card, but it will come in handy later on.
How to Beat Eggle (Secret Encounter)
Fast travel to the southeastern Sacred Grove of the Moors of Withered Memories.

From here, take a few steps east to find a Giant Egg on the ground. Note the three symbols on the ground behind the Giant Egg.

While exploring the map, you may have noticed some small Eggs on the ground. Interacting with them switches the symbol engraved on them. To find the secret mini-boss, you need to set the correct symbol on each of these eggs.

We’ve marked the location of all three Eggs in the image above.
As for which symbol to use, check the images below:

The Egg near the start of the zone.

The Egg beside the central Sacred Grove.
.

The Egg near the eastern Sacred Grove.
Once you’ve set up the symbols correctly, return to the Giant Egg.

Click on it, and it’ll crack open a path for you to head inside.

Go inside the Egg to find Eggle, a mini-boss enemy that you can defeat for three Teardrop points.

Eggle is a pretty straightforward battle. Although it hits hard and can retaliate on both ranged and melee attacks, you can stun it for a turn by breaking all the Eggs in the arena. This will give you a window to deal damage to Eggle while it summons more Eggs. Always focus on the Sorrowing Eggs first, and Eggle will go down without attacking you even once.

With Eggle defeated, there isn’t much else left to do in this region. So head to the central Sacred Grove and take the northeastern path to enter the Valley of Desolation.
There will be a few Spirit encounters along the way, but by now it shouldn’t be too tough to handle.
Valley of Desolation
Unlocking the First Sacred Grove and Map

As soon as you enter the Valley of Desolation, you’ll spot a group of Spirits waiting for you on the left up ahead. Defeat the Spirits.

Keep heading south along the path till you reach another Spirit encounter. The Sacred Grove is located past this encounter.
Take a look at the map and note down all the Nests. As always, we’ll go around the map looting all the Nests and clearing Spirit encounters.
How to Get the Skull Realmless Card (Secret)

From the first Sacred Grove, head north toward the marked location in the image above.

Once you get past the spirits and loot the location, click on the rock to reveal a cave entrance. Head inside.

There’s an Elder Spirit battle waiting inside, where you’ll also have to fight the Skull.

Once you defeat it, head to the end of the cave and click on the Skull to receive the Skull Flyge Card.

It’s one of the best Fylge cards in the game with a decent health pool and good damage/knockback.
How to Complete the Scattered Senses Side Quest

The Scattered Senses is a hidden side quest that can be found in the western section of the Valley of Desolation. Go to the yellow X marked in the image above to start the quest.

As you reach the spot, you’ll see a giant face emerge from the sands. Ro will note that it’s her Mother’s Face. Run through all the dialogues to trigger the Scattered Senses quest.
To complete the quest, you need to find all four of Ro’s Mother‘s lost senses spread across all four Realms. Mother will drop hints for where you’ll find them. We’ll pin down their location below:
The Eye (The Wailing Marshes)

The Eye can be found in The Wailing Marshes of the Realm of Gloomy Waters. It’s located right below the northern Sacred Grove of the region.
The Nose (Meadows of Delusion)

From the southeastern Sacred Grove of the Meadows of Delusion zone in the Realm of Distorted Hollows, head west and take the lower path past the spirit encounter. You’ll find the Nose halfway along the path just before a Spirit encounter.
The Ear (The Hidden Vale)

There’s a small alcove between two Spirit encounters on the western side of The Hidden Vale of the Realm of Piercing Winds. You’ll find The Ear here.
The Tongue (Dead Roots)

Found in the southwestern section of the Dead Roots region in the Realm of Gloomy Waters near the edge of the small lake. We’ve marked the location in the image above.

Once you’ve acquired all the Senses, return to Mother in the Valley of Desolation. Talk to her to complete the quest and receive the Amber Figurine Totem.
| Amber Figurine (Totem) | First Turn: Gain 5 Block. Ignore next Ailment. |
Cadaver Dunes
Unlocking the First Sacred Grove and Map

From the southeastern Sacred Grove in the Valley of Desolation, head downward along the passage, and you’ll reach the Cadaver Dunes after a Spirit encounter.

Continue forward, and you’ll see a group of Elder Spirits blocking your way forward. This is a boss zone, so this encounter will have a Totemite. Take down the Spirits.

The Sacred Grove lies just beyond this encounter. Activate it to reveal the map.
How to Find the Shell of Whispers (Totem)

From the activated Sacred Grove, head south toward the next Sacred Grove. There are two Spirit encounters that you’ll have to clear to reach the location.

Once you reach the second Sacred Grove, you’ll see a giant Skull nearby. You can head inside through the eye socket.

Inside, you’ll be ambushed by a group of Spirits. Take them down.

Loot the Nest in the area to find the Shell of Whispers Totem.
| Shell of Whispers (Totem) | +2 Mana. Draw 1 less card each turn. |
How to Reach the Boss Arena

From the second Sacred Grove, head further south along the beach.

When you reach the other side, you’ll spot a Elder Spirit encounter up ahead.

Take it down, and continue forward, past two more Elder Spirit encounters to find the third and final Sacred Grove of the zone. The boss lies just beyond this.

Heal up, arrange your deck, and when you’re ready, continue forward to trigger the boss fight against Exorath.
How to Beat Exorath, Great Spirit of Hostile Plains

The boss fight begins with you going up against four Carapaces in the first phase.
These Carapaces take double damage from the back. Considering most of the cards in this region let you reposition and deal bonus Backstab damage, you shouldn’t have too much trouble taking them down.

Each Carapace has 12 HP and 2 Blocks. They regain the Block each turn. If you end your turn while standing between the back sides of two or more Carapaces, they will collapse, dealing massive damage.

Backstabbing the Carapaces is the key to taking them down quickly.

Once you’ve destroyed all four Carapaces, the boss will appear, and you can deal damage to it. Exorath only has 20 Hitpoints, which shouldn’t be too difficult for you to burn through.

It will return to its Carapace form after a turn. So make sure you make the window count and deal as much damage as possible to the boss when it’s vulnerable and it should go down pretty easily.

After defeating the boss, a cutscene will play. Once that’s over, you’ll receive the A Leap of Death Realmless Card.
