Welcome to part 7 of our walkthrough for Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken. With the three main zones covered, we’ll now start checking out the branching paths from each zone.Â
The first on our list is The Cave at the end of Forest of the Lost. For Amy, this is the first step to uncovering the true fate of her brother Amy.
For more information about Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken, check out their official website here.
The rooms and items in this level are randomized. The layout for you may not be the same as in this walkthrough. The puzzles and general progression route, however, will remain the same.
The Flooded Chamber

As you wake up in the middle of the Forest of the Lost, you’ll find a path directly north of you. There’s a Tree Trunk that you can loot for an item. Go through the northern path once you’re ready.

The first room has a rock with a crack that you can check for an item. We found a Human Bone. Go to the next room using the southeastern exit.

You’ll find yourself in a larger clearing with light seeping through the top and a river down the middle. On the left side, you’ll find a patch of soft ground. There’s a door to the north and one to the east. Let’s go north first.

You’ll reach an area with quicksand in the middle. You can spot a monster moving under the sand, but there’s a metal chest on the other side that you can loot.

Once the monster moves to a side, run straight for the other end. If you’ve got the Dream Runner upgrade unlocked, you should be able to reach the chest without taking damage.

The box contains a Shovel. Exit the room and use it with the patch of soft ground outside. You’ll find a Pickaxe. With the Pickaxe in hand, we can now take the eastern exit to head deeper into the cave.

Up ahead, you’ll find a map on the ground beside a skeleton. You’ll also find a book you can check, and a hiker’s backpack that you can loot. The pile of bones can give you a Human Bone. We found a Can of Meat inside the backpack.
There are two exits out of this room, one northeast and one southeast.

The northeastern room leads to a flooded chamber inside the cave.

Double back and take the southeastern path for a room with a hole in the ground. You can spot cracks on the wall. Inspecting it, Amy notes that she can hear water flowing on the other side.

Use the Pickaxe on the cracked surface. The wall will break open and water will come rushing in, filling the hole.

The water level inside the hole rises and you’ll see a bag that you can loot. We found a Box Cutter Knife inside the bag.

Now return to the flooded chamber from earlier. You’ve drained the water and can go through the door on the east.
The Mine Workshop

In the next room, you’ll find a body crawling with spiders on the ground. Amy can spot an item on the body, but reaching for it will damage you. There’s a lamp right next to the body. You’ll have to find a way to light it to get rid of the spiders.
There’s a creviced rock here that you can loot. We found a Human Bone inside it.
There are two exits out of this room: northeast and southeast. We took the southeastern exit first.

This brought us to a room with three cocoons hanging from the ceiling. We can use the Human Bone to break them open.

One of these cocoons will spawn three Spiderlings. We found Nailed Planks in one of them.
Once you’re done, take the northern exit from here.

In the next room, you’ll see an abandoned mine cart. You can’t do anything with it. There’s another creviced rock here that you can loot for an item. We found a Cleaver.
There are two exits from this room to new areas: one to the west and one to the east.
Take the western exit first.

You’ll see another mine cart up ahead. Near the bottom of the room, there are two Giant Spiders, but they won’t spot you unless you get close. You’ll also notice a mechanism beside the mine cart.

Use the Human Bone with the mechanism and trigger it as soon as the Giant Spiders get near the tracks. The cart will roll down and crush them, saving you the trouble of fighting them on your own.
Loot the two barrels in the room and the body covered in spiderwebs on the ground. We found a Matchbox on the body.

Now return to the room with the body crawling in spiders and use the Matchbox with the lamp. You can now loot the body for some Nails.
Return to the room with the abandoned mine cart and take the eastern exit this time.

You’ll arrive at a workshop area. There’s a workshop vise on the table up ahead. Pick up the Wrench hanging above the table.
There are two barrels here that you can break. We found a Cleaver and a Bottle of Medicine.

Near the entrance of the room on the left, you’ll see a Mine Shaft Frame that you can interact with. Use any blunt weapon in your inventory to break it. You’ll have to use your weapon twice to destroy it fully.

Pick up the two planks one at a time and place them on the workshop vise. Use the Nails from your inventory to form a makeshift bridge.

Use it with the chasm in the workshop room to form a bridge. You can now head deeper into the cave through the eastern path.
Deeper into the Cave

As you head into the next room, you’ll find a base camp area. There’s a Coffee Pot that you can use to restore Focus. Other than that, there’s a notebook inside a tent and a Hiker’s Backpack to loot, along with two containers.
We found a Metal Pipe, a Cleaver, and a Thermos. They are all useful items, but not essential for the chapter. There are two exits from this room, north and east. Let’s go east first.

This room is filled with spiderwebs, spider eggs, and cocoons. There are a couple of web covered bodies here that you can loot for some items.

If you get close to the spider eggs in the middle, the eggs will hatch and spawn three Spiderlings for you to fight.

You’ll spot an exit in the southwest. This leads to a room with a Metal Coffin. There are three padlocks on it.

If you’ve unlocked the Bolt Cutter from your upgrades, Imagine it and use it on the Metal Coffin three times. This will trigger a boss battle against the Maimed Man.

This is a tough battle and your first real challenge in the game. But we strongly recommend defeating the boss, as he gives you a Chainsaw.

This is one of the best weapons in the game and you should unlock it from the upgrade window as soon as possible.
After defeating the Maimed Man, return to the base camp area. Take the northern route next.

You’ll find yourself in a large chamber with a huge hole in the middle. There’s a Giant Spider charging at you from the other side of the cave.

You can loop around the hole to reach the northern door without fighting the Spider.

We reached a dark section of the cave surrounded by rocks. Loop around the large rocks to the left of the room to find two bodies covered in spiderwebs. You can loot these bodies for some items.

As you move toward the exit, you’ll be ambushed by a Giant Spider. You can either fight it or escape and run toward the exit on the east.

This brings you to a large room covered in spiderwebs. You can spot a Giant Spider standing guard over a web-covered passage. You’ll have to defeat it to progress.

Defeat the Giant Spider and use Matchsticks to burn the webs, clearing the path north. Head through the room to enter the first major boss battle in the game.
Defeating the Spider Queen

Entering the web-covered passage puts you face to face with the Spider Queen. This is one of the three Dream Abominations you’ll face in the game. Run through the dialogues and the boss battle will begin.

The key to defeating the Spider Queen is bleed. She spawns Spiderlings into the fight every few turns. When there’s a minion on the field, you’ll need to kill it first before you can damage the boss.
The Chainsaw comes extremely handy in this fight, since the Cleave damage still applies even if you can’t hit the Spider Queen directly.
When she starts preparing her devastating attack, make sure you use a defensive weapon to negate as much damage as possible. The Shield is a good item to counteract her damage.

After defeating the boss, a portal will open inside the chamber and you can use it to exit the dream and return to the real world.
