Welcome to the fourth part of the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Demon Tides. Demon Tides is a 3D platformer where you’re playing as Beebz, who must confront her father after receiving a letter from him. However, he made it clear that he sent no such invitation. Nevertheless, Beebz still wants to put an end to his father’s cruel reign over the region and is determined to find answers.

Roc
After you’ve gathered at least 20 Golden Gears, you can travel to Thuintir by going back to Runa’s village in the Lokitana sea. You’ll have to interact with the container in front of Runa there and select Thuintir from the interface.
Runa will then load the ship in her gigantic cannon and shoot it towards Thuintir. As you land in the sea, Roc will arrive shortly.

Roc reveals that he’s your brother, and it was he who had sent the invitation with Ragnar’s name. He had expected Beebz to be more like him and his father, but things turned out differently.
Beebz tries to reason with Roc, but he doesn’t seem to agree. He’ll go away shortly after threatening you to stay away from the region.

If you talk to Runa and the revolutionaries here, they’ll tell you about three places of interest: Tartar Village, Avian’s Goal, and a Supply Ship that’s currently under attack. All of these events are connected to Roc, and you’ll have to do all of them to unlock the battle against him.
However, keep in mind that defeating Roc is completely optional. You have to gather a total of 35 Golden Gears in the three oceans to be able to reach Ragnar’s Castle to end the game.

Tartar Village
Tartar Village is towards the northwest of the landing point called Runa’s Cannon. As you get there, you’ll find that Roc’s men have attacked the village.

Runa will engage in a battle with Roc, buying you time to defeat his minions. You’ll have to fight against the four enemies and defeat them all.
This will cause Roc to retreat from the village, and Runa will be thankful to you for your help.

Avian’s Goal
Avian’s Goal is towards the center of Thuintir. As you approach the area, Roc will shout from the tower that he doesn’t want you freeing his prisoners, and that’s exactly what you have to do here.

Start your climb, and you’ll find three cages along the way to the top. You’ll have to free all three of them to unlock the chest at the top.

Once you’ve freed all the prisoners and made it to the top, the chest will be unlocked. Roc will go away after getting annoyed, and you can take the costume from the chest.

Supply Ship
The hardest part of the entire Thuintir region is to find the supply ship that is currently under attack by Roc’s forces. In the southwest part of Thuintir, you’ll find two ships engaged in battle. The location is called Naval Conflict, and it’s towards the east of the Golden Crow Nest.

One of the ships belongs to Runa, while the other one belongs to Roc. You’ll have to defeat a total of 6 enemies on the ships. Once you’ve defeated them all, Roc will come and talk to you, and will leave shortly after.

After you’ve taken care of the third event, you’ll receive a phone call from Roc, asking you to come to the Dueling Grounds. It’s located southeast of Avian’s Gaol.

Battle Against Roc
Roc mainly uses tackles and a slash attack in the first phase. For a short duration after performing an attack, the golden aura around him will fade away, and this is when he’s vulnerable to your attacks.
You’ll have to keep hitting him repeatedly. Roc can also summon swords in the air, smashing them on the ground. After you’ve dealt enough damage, Roc will pull out a hammer.

This is where the second phase starts. Roc will occasionally jump high into the air and smash his hammer on the ground, causing a shockwave that you can jump over. He’s vulnerable after this move, so you can attack him then.
His other attacks also get more intense. He can turn into a bird and create tornadoes in the arena. You’ll have to use your movement to avoid the tornadoes.

When you’ve dealt enough damage to him, Roc will use his bird form to create multiple tornadoes, and after tiring himself out, he’ll land on the ground. If you attack him with a Boost attack right now, that will end the battle in your victory.
Roc reveals a lot more about himself and his father in the battle. Furthermore, you’ll unlock the final talisman slot after defeating Roc in battle.

To Ragnar’s Castle
After defeating the three generals and exploring the three oceans, you’ll have to gather a total of 35 Golden Gears. Once you’ve obtained enough, you can return to Runa’s village in Lokitana, and she’ll send you to Ragnar’s Castle.

As you enter the area, you’ll find that Ragnar’s throne room is blocked by a magical barrier. You’ll have to go the other way and complete a platforming challenge.

You’ll find a lever on the other end of the challenge. This lever will disable the magic barrier, allowing Beebz to confront her father. Using the lever also spawns a rail, and you can use it to return to the entrance to the Demon King’s chamber.

Battle Against Ragnar
The battle against Ragnar is long and has multiple phases. As the battle begins, his attacks are somewhat similar to Roc’s, as he charges at you often and smashes the ground with both of his hands.
You can attack him while he’s recovering after performing an attack. Ragnar may also turn into a bird and hop on the ground multiple times, causing a shockwave with each hop.

After the final hop, he’s vulnerable for quite a while, and you can use this opportunity to attack him. Ragnar can also turn himself into a small castle with a drill. He may spawn some enemies after using this move.
Ragnar may also spin around the arena in his drill form, and you have to mind your positioning to avoid him. You can jump over the glowing trail he leaves behind.

After you’ve dealt enough damage to him, Ragnar will destroy the castle and turn into a gigantic serpent. You’ll also land back in the ocean.
Here, you have to complete a platforming challenge to reach Ragnar. Once you do so, the battle will begin once again.

However, if you die during this battle, you won’t have to do the entire thing again, and you’ll respawn just outside of this arena.
Ragnar uses the same attacks during this battle, but they’ve become more intense and powerful. He’ll now tackle three times instead of one, and the trail he leaves behind will glow and can deal damage to you.

He’ll also keep creating magic attacks that fall to the ground periodically. If you manage to deal enough damage to Ragnar though, he’ll be defeated.
After defeat, you’ll see a cutscene where Beebz is trying to save Ragnar, but he refuses, seeing the image of his wife in his daughter. Once the cutscene is over, the credits will roll, and that will mark the completion of the game.
