Directive 8020 Walkthrough – Episode 3: The Sample

As Episode 3 begins in Directive 8020, things might feel a little confusing because you are immediately presented with a choice before fully understanding what is happening. I went with the challenge option, “How do I know it’s you?” to get more information. Then I followed it up with the warning option, “Stay back.”
After making these two choices, you will receive a new objective.
Sneak To The Control Room

You now have to sneak past Williams to reach the control room. Wait for Williams to move ahead, then sprint while crouching to get up the stairs and hide. After that, wait for Williams to stand outside the control room because eventually he will move to the south side where you are hiding.
When that happens, stay in place because he will pause on the left side for a moment. Then head straight while remaining crouched and hide while facing the opposite direction. You need to face the direction you originally came from. Williams will eventually come to your hiding spot, so circle around the hiding area marked with the warning sign. As Williams walks to the right side, move to the left and proceed into the control room.
Power The Control Room Door

As you reach the control room door, it will not open, so your next objective will be to restore power to it. Face away from the door and look slightly northwest, where you will see an interactable object. Interact with it to open a window. You need to climb inside through that window.
Then make your way to the right side and climb through another window. Scan the area to locate the red wire and follow it to restore power to the control room door. After that, head back slightly and move right to find another terminal where you can restore power to the surrounding area.
This will open the doors, but keep in mind that Williams will enter the room shortly afterward. Head through the vent directly ahead. The vent is located just beneath the terminal. Proceed through the vent, exit, and wait for Williams to move ahead before leaving through the door. Then hide on the left side and wait for Williams to return.
When he comes back, that is your opportunity to enter the control room. As soon as you step inside, a cutscene will begin. Afterward, the game will return to the present timeline.
Wait For Eisele

You do not need to do anything here. Simply wait for Eisele to return, and the next objective will appear. She comes back fairly quickly, so there is nothing to worry about.
Move Carter Into The Pod
Interact with Carter’s body and repeatedly press the button that appears on the screen. Once you do that, the objective will be completed, and you will need to inspect Carter’s body.
Examine Carter’s Body

There are five different areas on Carter’s body that you can inspect. These areas are easy to locate, so simply move the camera around and interact with each one. After examining all five areas, the objective will be completed, and a cutscene will begin.
Then, while playing as Stafford, you will have to choose between two dialogue options. I went with the speculate “A long time isolated in space…” option. After that, you will face a Turning Point decision. Since Eisele was correct, I chose the concede, “You were right to be concerned” option.
Following another cutscene, you will once again choose between two options. I selected the inspire, “Let’s do it for Carter” option, but you can choose the other option as well. A lengthy cutscene will then begin, and once it ends, you will need to make a quick decision. You must either sit back down or reboot the computer.

If you choose to reboot the computer, you will have to repeatedly press the button shown on the screen. Then make the correct three inputs to return to the chair. After the crash, you will play as Cernan and choose between two dialogue options. I went with the question option.
This is the crew that was previously asleep, and they will now discover Carter’s body. You will then have to make another choice between two options. Select either one, and you will receive your next objective.
Check The Status Of The Ship
Head to the marked terminal ahead and interact with it to trigger a cutscene. Once that finishes, the objective will be completed. You will then need to hold down Williams, after which you will receive another objective.
Override The Breach Seals

Head down the stairs and move forward. The vent ahead will be locked, so instead, go in the opposite direction and lift the lockdown to restore power. Then crawl through the vent and head up the stairs. Continue through another vent and move forward. After exiting the vent, turn left, and you will find the Tool Storage room.
The door will be locked, so head right, where you will find an interactable object ahead. Interact with it from a distance to restore power to the Tool Storage room. Once power is restored, you will be able to enter.
Find A Wedge Tool

Head inside the Tool Storage room and turn right to find a wedge tool. Cooper will then ask about the lucky charm, which becomes another Turning Point decision. I chose the probe option, “Do you have any faith?” After that, you will need to choose another response. Pick whichever one you prefer. I went with the encourage option.
Return To The Pod Room

You will now be playing as Cooper, and your objective is to return to the pod room. Use the wedge tool to leave the Tool Storage room. Then head back the way you came. Once you reach the vent, continue straight because the vent will remain locked. Go through the door and turn right.
Turn right again, and the pod room will be directly ahead. Open the door using the wedge tool, and the objective will be completed.
Unseal The Door
Now you must unseal the door, but before doing so, you can optionally speak with Anders and Williams. Once you are done, head to the door and use the wedge tool to unlock it. This will override the breach seals and complete the objective. After Eisele finishes speaking, Cooper will be given two dialogue choices.
You can either choose appeal, “We don’t have all the facts,” or rebuke, “This is not helping.” I went with the former.
Search For Simms
After the cutscene ends, you will still be playing as Cooper, and now you must search for Simms. Move forward and interact with the panel to open the window, then climb inside. From there, head right and then turn left to pick up a power cell that can be used to unlock doors.
Power The Door

Use the power cell you just collected to power the door ahead. Afterward, head right and interact with the panel to open the window. Climb inside to retrieve the power cell again. Exit through the window and speak with Anders if you want. This conversation is optional, so you can skip it if you prefer. Then continue forward.
Insert the power cell into the circuit directly ahead and enter the Mess Lobby. Continue onward and interact with the rubble to clear a path. Move forward, and you will find Carter’s personal log on the left side. Then head back and open the elevator door using the wedge tool.
A cutscene will then begin. During the cutscene, make sure to repeatedly press the button shown on screen to open the monitoring crew door. After witnessing the abomination inside, Williams argues that the crew needs to investigate it further. While playing as Cooper, you will then have to choose between two dialogue options.

I went with the disagree option, but no matter what you choose, Williams ultimately gets his way. Take the sample, and with that, Episode 3: The Sample in Directive 8020 will conclude.
Directive 8020 Walkthrough – Episode 4: Dragnet
As Episode 4, Dragnet starts in Directive 8020, you might get confused given what is happening. After the cutscene is over, you will get your first objective.
Create A Distraction

Creating a distraction is pretty simple because you only have to use your utility strap to activate the screen right in front of you. Do so, and the objective will be completed. Then a cutscene will start, and you will get your next objective.
Sneak Past Williams

Go ahead and listen closely to Anders because she will ask you to stop. When she does, stop immediately because Williams will suddenly appear. Wait for Williams to turn around and then move ahead. After that, turn right and enter the vent. Before exiting the vent, stop and wait for Williams to walk away.
When Williams moves away, go ahead and enter the Kitchen and hide behind the desk. When Williams walks to your side, move around the table from the left side. Then exit through the window and hide behind the table outside.
Open The Door For Anders

Now use the wrench tool to open the door ahead for Anders and then quickly run behind her.
Leave Before You Are Found

As you run behind Anders and seal the door, you will get the objective of leaving the area before you are found by Williams. This objective will automatically be completed as long as you were not discovered by Williams. Since this all happened in the future, you will now return to the present timeline to learn what actually happened.
Present

You will then get to choose between two dialogue options as Eisele, although neither choice will have an impact on the story. I went with the “Rest in Peace” option. The group will then conclude that the disaster happened because of the Growth. After that, as Eisele, you will once again have to choose between two dialogue options.
You can either doubt the theory or consider the possibility that it happened. I went with the latter option. Then the captain of the ship, Stafford, will authorize the use of the weapon. However, Eisele also has to provide her authorization. You will then have to choose between authorizing or refusing the decision. I went with the authorize option.
Later, while talking to Williams about Tau Ceti f as Stafford, you will once again have to choose between two dialogue options. I picked the doubt option and then followed it up with the reassure option.
Find Simms
You will now be playing as Young, and your objective is to find Simms. As you move ahead, you will get a sub-objective. You now need to override the vent shutter.
Override The Vent Shutter

You simply need to make sure the current is passing from the bottom toward the left side, and you will successfully override the vent shutter. After that, the vent will open, so head through it.
Search The Vent
Go through the vent, head up the stairs, and then turn right where the first shutter is located. Interact with it and continue ahead. Follow the path to the right and move around the area toward the marked location. Keep following the path to the right and, at the very end, turn left.
Ahead of you will be the second shutter, so wait for Cooper to unlock it and then move through it. Continue following the straightforward path ahead, and eventually you will reach the third shutter.
Continue Through The Vent
Go through the path ahead, and you will spot a creature. Continue moving forward and then interact with the terminal.
Extend The Bridge

After a cutscene, you will have to extend the bridge so Cooper can come over to your side. Wait for the monster to move ahead and then follow behind it carefully. The monster will start making rounds around the area, so when it is facing the left side, that is your chance to sneak past it.
Then move ahead and wait for the creature to turn right. Once it does, use your utility strap to activate the object on the right side. Then walk past the creature, and you will receive a new objective.
Power The Control Bridge

You now have to power the control bridge before you can extend it. Wait for the monster to face the opposite direction and then head toward the other marked location. Go inside, and you will receive the objective of finding a power cell. If the monster catches you while moving around the area, you can use the wedge tool to attack it.
Simply press the correct button prompt shown on the screen, and you will be fine. To find the power cell, head toward the southeast side of the room and open the door using the wedge tool. Enter the room and pick up the power cell. After that, hide nearby so you do not get caught by the monster.
Then carefully sneak toward the circuit and insert the power cell to power the bridge. Once you do that, the monster will enter the room. Hide behind the object on the right side and then, when the monster moves toward the opposite side, head right again and hide behind another object.
Then wait for the monster to come close to your position before it walks away again. That is your opportunity to leave the room and extend the bridge.
Regroup With Cooper

Once you have done that, move across the bridge to regroup with Cooper. As you continue ahead, a cutscene will begin, and the monster will appear from the door in front of you. Shortly after that, you will have to quickly press a button prompt to avoid getting hit. Afterward, press another button prompt, and Cooper will arrive just in time for the rescue.
With that, Episode 4, Dragnet in Directive 8020 will come to an end.
