Disciples: Domination – Prologue And Chapter 1 Walkthrough

Disciples: Domination Walkthrough

Disciples: Domination puts you in the shoes of Avyanna, a Queen, who has had a troubling history, and is now trying to save Nevendaar. On your journey, you’ll have to gather companions, recruit allies, and handle grievances of your subjects, as you aim towards making Nevendaar a better place for all. For more information on the game, please visit its official Steam page here.

Prologue

As the game begins, you’ll find Avyanna alongside one of her servants, the Avenger. You’re here to save the Dwarves, who had been raided. The Avenger hurries ahead and ends up getting defeated.

Progress ahead, and you’ll find a few Human soldiers. They’ve caught Helmer. You’ll then have to partner up with the Dwarf to defeat the soldiers.

The battle here is easy. Just keep using the melee attacks with Avyanna and Helmer, and you’d be able to win. Now, keep going ahead, and you’ll find a healing fountain. You can find these all over the map, and they get refreshed periodically once used.

There’s also a lever beside the fountain. Use the lever to unlock the path ahead. As you progress, you’ll find a few more exiled dwarfs being surrounded by the soldiers.

You’ll enter battle once again, but this time, you’ll have two Axe Thrower units in your party. The Axe Throwers deal good damage, but they have low HP and have to stay a little far from the target to attack them consistently.

As the battle begins, have Helmer taunt the enemies with his second skill. You can then use that time to attack with Avyanna and the Axe Throwers.

Once the battle is over, take the path straight, and you’ll head out of the hideout. Once you’re outside, Avyanna will mount a horse, and you have to go further west towards the quest marker.

In the meantime, you’ll also have to select a class and distribute some skill points. Note that you have to unlock the skills in the first row at the bottom. Once you’ve invested enough skill points in the bottom row, the row above it will become unlocked.

Learning The Ropes In Yllian

Once you arrive at the marked location, you’ll then have a short conversation about the tainted mana and the exiled dwarfs before heading back to Yllian. Travel to Yllian and interact with the castle.

Select the option that says “Meet Companions,” and talk with Helmer. Once your conversation with Helmer is over, you’ll have to interact with the empty spot in Yllian and build the Dwarf Barracks.

After you’ve done that, you can then access a variety of different faction buildings. You have to recruit at least two units before progressing.

Open the party menu after recruiting new units and add those newly recruited units to your party. You can put a total of 10 units on the frontline, and three in the backline. You also have to watch out for the leadership meter.

Stronger characters fill more of your leadership gauge, so you have to balance out your party with units from different tiers. You’ll understand it better once you upgrade your Castle to Tier 2 later on.

After that, you’ll have to open the Character Menu and open the Spell Book. Unlike other units that have only two skills available in their arsenal, Avyanna can use a variety of skills, provided that you’ve learned them first.

Pick any spell that you feel would be useful. I was playing the Witch Queen class, so I picked the Eclipse skill from the Spellbook to learn during the prologue.

After learning a skill, open your worldmap and travel to the Wulf Coast. Doing so will mark the completion of the prologue.

Investigating The Wulf Coast

As you teleport to this area, you’ll have to head west until you find a healing fountain. From there, go south until you exit the stone walls. From here, you have to go west until you arrive at the marked location.

Once you arrive at the marked location, you’ll have to engage in a battle. You shouldn’t have too much trouble here, as there are only 4 enemy units that you have to defeat.

After defeating the enemies, you have to go further northwest. You’ll find Walkelin of Saint Darchild here. After a conversation with him, he’ll suggest that you go and talk to the Countess Wolfheart before he allows you to pass through.

You can find the Countess Wolfheart inside the stonewalls. Just head north from the healing fountain that you encountered when you first entered the area, and you’ll find the Countess there.

Countess’ Grievance

As you go and talk to the Countess, you’ll find Ethel there. There’s a situation going on in her territory with dwarves pillaging and raiding the area. The Countess wouldn’t grant you access to Cragwell until you’ve dealt with these raiders.

Now, you have to go back to your throne room to pass a grievance. During your playthrough, grievances will become available periodically, and you’ll have to make the choices there.

Depending on your choices, you may boost your association with a said faction or decrease it. Some grievances are also tied to quests, and talking to the NPCs in the area might unlock a few of them as well.

Return to the throne room of your castle, and here, you’ll find the issue named “Overwhelmed Countess.” I chose the option to use 1,000 Gold to increase the faction rating by 15.

Recruiting Ethel

Once you’ve dealt with the Grievance, return to the Wulf Coast. Head south from the teleport outside the stone gates, and you’ll find Cragwell’s survivors.

The survivor in question is Gernyl Rockbloom. She mentions someone named Alec, so you’ll have to go and find him. Alec is in the southeastern part of the region, east of the Faithful’s Ordeal area.

As you talk with Alec, you’ll find Ethel already here. After the conversation, Ethel will join you. Now, head back the way you came from, and you’ll find the quest marker leading you near the fast-travel point.

You’ll find Ethel standing here. She has spotted some tracks from the worshipers. As you keep following the quest marker, you’ll eventually find a trail, leading you back to the dwarves. They’ll immediately attack you.

Investigating The Worshipers

After the battle, if you’ve lost any of your units so far, you can always head back to the castle and recruit some more. Upgrading your castle Tier and then upgrading a faction’s building individually will allow you to hire units from a better tier.

Heal yourself at the nearby healing fountain and head towards the next quest marker. You’ll find Illmeren here. She’ll tell you about some elves in the area.

Go and talk to the elves, and they’d claimed to be sent by Ormeriel, an old friend of Avyanna, but they don’t reveal the reason. Avyanna will let them do as they wish for now.

You’ll then have to head to the abandoned Church of Cinders. Follow the quest marker to arrive at its entrance. Once you’ve found the church, interact with the stairs leading underground next to it.

The Temple Of Cinders

As you head inside, you’ll find a fast-travel point shortly ahead. An enemy is walking around here. Keep going deeper until you find where the believers gathered.

Talk to the people here, and you’ll realize it’s a dwarf called Albrecht. They had been pillaging the area, but they only did so because they were starving otherwise. Now, you have the choice. You can either let them go or threaten them to return what they’ve stolen.

I picked the option to demand that they return what they’ve stolen, and it started a battle against them, which led to them being defeated. Though you can likely avoid the battle by letting them go.

If you go in the opposite direction of where you encountered Albrecht, you’ll find that the path splits into three. You have to find three statues here and interact with them to light the braziers on them.

After that, approach the quest marker, and you’ll find another statue here. Interact with it, and that will reveal a secret passage.

Depths Of The Temple

You’ll enter the depths after interacting with the secret pathway. Keep following the path, and you’ll find a fast-travel point with a locked gate in front of it.

Ignore the locked gate for now, and head to the left path. You’ll encounter an enemy here. Go down the stairs, and you’ll find a drainage. It has been corrupted with tainted mana.

Follow the quest marker, and you’ll find the statue. Light up the statue down here to unlock the gate near the fast travel point.

From the fast travel point, if you go to the right, you’ll find one statue, and to the left, there are four statues, opposite the stairs leading to the drain. I also interacted with each of them before heading downstairs, so if the gate doesn’t immediately open, interact with those statues as well.

Battle Against Osric

Once the gate is unlocked, you can pass through it, and you’ll find Osric here. Among Osric’s units, you’ll have to watch out for Osric himself and the Bone Golem.

Be wary of the Bone Golem, as it explodes after defeat and can damage your units drastically. Use ranged options, such as the Elf Archers or the Axe Throwers, to take it out.

The Disciples will keep casting annoying magic from a distance, but you can take care of them after you’ve taken out the Soldier and the Bone Golem.

While Osric is quite gigantic, he doesn’t hit as hard. If you and your units are at least level 5, you won’t have much trouble defeating him here.

Once the battle is done, head back to Lady Wolfheart to report your success. However, you’ll have to face another grievance when you talk to her.

A Wolf Lost In The Storm

Head to your throne room to make a decision. You can either choose severity or subtlety. Furthermore, you can consult with your companions to hear what they think. Depending on your choices, you can either recruit Alec or Gernyl.

I picked the option to deal subtly with the issue. Among the next choices, I picked the option to offer a position to Gernyl.

Once that’s done, you’ll have to head back to the Wulf Coast to enroll the candidate that you’ve picked. Since I picked Gernyl, I had to go to the Graveyard to enroll her, and then I also had to fight against the Nercomancers.

After the battle, Gernyl joined the party. You’ll then have to report back to Countess Wolfheart. As you approach the usual location for Countess Wolfheart, you’ll find that she has left to attend to a matter urgently.

Elven Invaders

Head to the marked location, and here, you’ll find the elves that you previously encountered. They still claim to be sent by Ormeriel, but what they’re doing here is wrong.

You’ll then get a choice. You can pick the options to let the elves go or go against what these elves are saying. I picked the option where Avyanna says to the elves that she doesn’t believe they were sent by Ormeriel.

Regardless of your choice, the battle will begin. These are tough enemies, so make sure you’ve recruited proper units before heading into battle.

Watch out for the Feral Archers as they deal a lot of damage from a distance. It’s best to have at least two ranged units of your own to take out the elf archers.

After the battle, you’ll have to find Countess Wolfheart. However, you’ll find more enemies near the fast-travel point at the stone gates of Wolfheart’s property.

Crimson Elves

You’ll encounter a Crimson Elf here. These elves are raiders, and you’ll have to fight against them. Keep in mind that these Crimson Elves often cast a skill and will turn invisible.

While they’re affected by stealth, you won’t be able to directly target them. However, you can still deal damage to them by using area-of-effect spells. Once a unit takes damage while being affected by stealth, it’ll be knocked out of it.

Once the battle is over, go to the location where you usually find the Countess Wolfheart, towards the north of the healing fountain.

Entering Cragwell Again

Countess Wolfheart asks you to go and investigate what had happened to Walkelin and his men. You’ll have to follow the quest marker and pass through the Elven’s Pass to arrive at the location.

As you approach Cragwell, you’ll find Walkelin injured. He passed away shortly after talking to you. Now, you have to head to the Cragwell and see what’s going on there.

If you go deeper into Cragwell, you’ll shortly encounter the Crimson Elves. Fight against them and keep going. Your objective here is to search for the corrupted mana’s source. However, to get there, you’ll have to rotate the platforms.

As you approach the first healing fountain, you’ll find a level in front of it. You won’t be able to move the platforms right away, but go deeper and you’ll find more levers.

Rotating Platforms Of Cragwell

You’ll shortly enter an area with four rotatable platforms. Approach the lever next to the platform on the left. You can rotate it to get to the next lever.

Once you’re near the next lever, rotate the platform so you can go further right, above the stairs. You’ll find another lever here.

The lever on the elevated platform rotates the first platform of the area. Rotate it once. This will stop you from going back to the healing fountain, but a new path forward will open for you.

Now, you’ll have to make Avyanna go back on the first platform. Now, you can experiment more with the platforms here, as there are plenty of treasure chests here. However, what you’ve done so far is enough to progress the main quest.

Walk through the platforms until you arrive on the other side. Here, you’ll encounter more levers and platforms. You don’t have to touch them; instead, you have to go downstairs, towards the southeast. There’s a healing fountain here.

If you go a little deeper, you’ll encounter two more levers. Interact with the deeper lever, and you’ll encounter a switch here. This switch unlocks the gate next to the healing fountain.

Once you’ve unlocked the gate, go back and pass through the gate to arrive at the summit. Here, you’ll find the leader of the raiders.

Galthiel

The battle against Galthier is extremely challenging. His units are level 8, and it’s recommended that you upgrade your level to level 8 as well, before fighting him.

You can explore around the Wulf Coast to level up. Ranged units will also prove to be exceptional here. There’s also a battle stage gimmick of corrupted mana.

At the start of the round, you’ll notice mana stirring from the ground beneath certain tiles. If any unit is standing on these highlighted tiles as the round ends, they’ll take a chunk of damage.

Your strategy in this fight is to take out Galthiel as soon as possible. He doesn’t have that much HP, but his attacks can take multiple units out in an instant.

I used two Feral Archers in my party, alongside a Paladin and Disciple. You can also retry if the battle doesn’t go your way.

If you manage to defeat Galthiel without any loss, the rest of the battle becomes a lot easier. You’ll still have to worry about his archers, but they won’t be as troublesome if you have plenty of ranged units of your own.

Helmer also plays a significant role in the battle, as his taunt can keep Galthiel and most of his units occupied for your ranged units to defeat them.

Once the battle is over and Galthiel is defeated, he’ll jump into the tainted mana. You’ll then return to Countess Wolfheart to report on the events.

After you’re done, you’ll have to return to the castle and talk to Helmer, and that would mark the completion of Chapter 1.
