Discounty Story Walkthrough – Day 2 & 3

Welcome to Discounty. Your aunt’s handed you the keys to her discount supermarket, and now it’s your job to keep the shelves stocked, the customers happy, and maybe make a bit of money along the way. You’ll be arranging displays, cutting deals, and getting to know the locals — each with their quirks and opinions about your store.

In this walkthrough we cover all the interactions, quests and side quests needed to complete the story of Discounty. In this part of the walkthrough we cover day 2 and 3 we learn how to sign trade deals with the local manufacturers and how to print posters.

Day 2

Goal: Grand Opening (Continued)

Day 2 begins with a newspaper on your door step. The big news is that the ZeBus CEO has resigned. Outside you will meet up with Aunt Tellar, who will introduce you to Ted Isenkram. He makes shop furnishings.

Once you are inside the store and speak to Ted, it will complete the goal “A Grand Opening”.

Goal: Isenkram’s Hardware

Speak to Isenkram and purchase 2 coolers and 2 shelves from the store. Optionally, you can have them delivered, but I don’t see why you would. The goal now updates to having to speak to Aunt Tellar later.

Task: Settling in (continued)

Head back to the store now. Speak to Grace first and ask here what we are doing today. She will ask you to set up the store and make sure every thing is shelved and stocked. So I set up everything in the most unimaginative way possible.

Next up, open the store and get through the work shift (gameplay loop) for the day.

Once the day is over, check if you are running low on stock for anything – and if you are order from the computer. Otherwise Grace has nothing new to add – so go speak to Aunt Tellar for the goal “Isenkram’s hardware”.

Goal: Isenkram’s Hardware (continued)

Once you step outside, Aunt Tellar is waiting – she will ask you to do trade deals with certain townspeople. Karl, Barbara and Fisher to be exact. Speaking to Tellar will get you the achievement “Blomkest Beginnings.” This will also complete “Isenkram’s Hardware” and add a main goal “Shopping Locally” and three tasks “The Fishy Fisherman”, “It’s a deal” and “Way Back Home”.

Let’s see if we can make a deal with Barbara now.

Task: It’s a deal

Head down to the harbor. We have spoken to Barbara earlier, she’s the woman in the power suit.

Once you speak to her, she will offer you the trade deal. Let’s break it down: the deal has three tiers. You are on Tier 1 right now. We have to buy 2 crates of Fishy Sticks, and the challenge is to sell 15. Completing the challenge gets us trade deal perk points, which you can spend on the perks tree. These give various improvements to the trade deal like lower prices, more stock etc.

And Fishy Sticks restocks every Monday. Each crate costs 40 gold. Simple enough. Buy 2 crates – Barbara will throw one in for free. This will complete the task and update the goal “Shopping Locally”.

Tip: Buy an extra cooler and shelf from the hardware store.  Bonus tip: Get the Seafood Booster to sell more Fishy Sticks.

Go back to the store and drop the Fishy Sticks off and set up the coolers with atleast 1 display of Fishy Sticks.

Task: Way Back Home

On the north end of the map there is a road block due to a fallen tree. You can find farmer Karl there. Klintmoor Farm is blocked off due to the tree. Speaking to him will reveal that he doesn’t trust Aunt Tellar. We need to speak to her. Karl also reveals all his sheep are spread over town – which explains the random sheep around town. Lets go speak to Aunt Tellar now.

As expected, we need to find 8 of Karl’s sheep around town. You can find the location guide below –

Sheep 1 is next to Cursed but Curious.

Sheep 2 is in John Key’s House.

Sheep 3 is in front of Isenkram’s Hardware.

Sheep 4 is in front of Elmer’s Home.

Sheep 5 is up the stairs in between town hall and Elmer’s home.

Sheep 6 is in between the bar and the bank, in front of Antique Antiques.

Sheep 7 is in the Harbor on the right side of the pier.

Note: I ran out of time before I could find sheep 8 on day 2. If you have time, the location is listed below; alternatively, you can pick it up on day 3.

Sheep 8 is at the bottom of the pier.

Day 3

If you got all the sheep on Day 2 you can use the time before opening to meet up with Telar; otherwise, head to the store to set up for the day.

Task: Way Back home (continued)

After gathering all 8 sheep meet up with Tellar in the park. Witness the Sheep-edemic go down. The tree should be gone tomorrow.

Head to the store to start the day.

Task: Settling In (continued)

Grace has installed a trash compactor. Use it to flatten any leftover crates/boxes. Once flattened if you take them down to the recycling center you can get gold for it – but only if you sort your stacks correctly. Try the machine out now.

We can check out the recycling center later in the day, as its not part of any task.

Tip: I set up a Fishy Sticks display with the Seafood Booster to complete the challenge of selling 15 Fishy Sticks.

Open the store and lets get to it. Once the day is over – I almost sold all the needed Fishy Sticks – pick up the stack of flattened cardboard we made earlier and head to the recycling center. Its next to the Hardware store. Once you get there, Ted will show you around. Dump the stack into the right container.

Tip: Try to avoid making mixed stacks – a cooler and a carboard box stack for example. You will not be paid for it.

Task: The Fishy Fisherman

Head to the harbor to speak to Fisher about a trade deal. You can find him on his boat.

He doesn’t want to sell to you and asks you to go talk to Barbara. She isn’t about to break up her monopoly – but she does want a special holiday version of Fishy Sticks – Fishmas Sticks. Pick up the Fishmas Sticks from the loading area. You need to sell 10 of these to get the trade deal with Fisher done.

Tip: In order to sell these, you need to get the Seafood Booster from Ted’s hardware store – which you can get for free if you speak to him. I had already invested the 250 gold in it – so I had 2.

Tip: Also if you finish Ted’s inventory, he will restock with more shelves and promotional materials. I invested in more shelves and coolers but he had a Drink Booster for sale too.

Go back to the store and set up the display for the Fishmas Sticks.

Next, you can check out the Citizen’s Services Department at the Town hall. You can print posters here as Elmer will clear out any posters over town once every week – this is not a bad idea to drive traffic to the store. Que some posters up – it takes 8 hours and 15 gold.

There is not much else going on in town. So turn in for the day.
