Dispatch Walkthrough – Episode 1 – Pivot

In Episode 1 of Dispatch, you’re introduced to Robert’s new life as he juggles hero management, tough choices, and the fallout from his past. This guide walks you through key decisions, conversations, and outcomes to help you start on the right foot.

Apartment

As Robert is talking to his “psychiatrist”, you are faced with your first choice.

As stated before, I am going with the positive answers (mostly). So I picked “I love my dad.” As the altercation progresses, you learn the location of Shroud from the Soothing Goon. You are once again forced with a new choice.

I let him drop, because I wanted to see what the game would let me do. Turns out the Soothing Goon will remember that I let him drop. A short QTE segment later should see you put on your suit.

Shroud’s Hideout

Another QTE Segment now at the Refinery. This time to take out the guards.

Play through the hand to hand combat sequence and soon you will be faced with the a hacking sequence. The goal is to get to the end of the path, inputting codes to build paths to the exit.

Up and Right for the first node. Up, left, right for the second node. The next one is down, up, down but this one allows repeated interactions.

Take the upper path first and get the Spatial Data with Up, down, up, right. Go back and input up, down, up to open the lower path now. Download the spatial data here.

Now use the next node by inputting the code – right, up, down, right. Now go back and input the code a 3rd time at the node with the multiple inputs and take the upper path. Download the final Spatial Data with up, right, down, left. Move the cube downwards to complete the infiltration. Now you will head to Shroud’s location and you have a choice. What badass one-liner to use?

I picked “It’s over, Shroud.” Well, its not quite Shroud. It’s Toxic, the soothing goon from earlier. The next choice is, well, there isn’t much of a choice.

I went with punt. Well, he comes back with his bits hanging out. The fight involves QTE, so get through the fight with the correct inputs.

A whole gang of other super-villains show up. Fight them off with QTE inputs.

After Shroud shows up you are faced with a choice – divert all power to the rocket boosters while Toxic tells you it’s not going to work.

I chose “Bullshit”. After the cutscene, you will see the title card. A short history, rather lore lesson will follow.

Press Conference

At the press conference, where you announce your “retirement”. You will faced with questions from the reporters.

I picked “I did my best.” Next question.

I picked “No Comment.” Next question.

I chose to “Answer”. Everyone will remember that.

LA Streets

As you see the fallout from your press conference, you are once again faced with another choice.

I picked “That’s pretty disrespectful.” A confrontation and another choice follow this.

I picked “Someone with nothing to lose.” The next choice, once again, like earlier – not much of a choice.

I picked “Punch with left”. A scuffle ensued, and Blonde Blazer arrived. After a short conversation, she wants to do something about your arm.

I picked “Have you done this before?”

Superhero Bar

A short joke later, you are faced with the choice of responding to Blonde Blazer’s drinking prowess.

I picked “That feels like a challenge.” A conversation about what your finances look like follows.

I picked “I like helping people.” Blonde Blazer will remember this choice. A bit after, she will have a proposition for you.

I picked “A bar proposition?” An embarrassing incident later, Flambae will show up. You get to name him.

I picked “Sunglasses at Night Guy.” After Flambae shows off his powers, which doesn’t burn his skin – you get the choice of doing something about it.

I chose “Alcohol”. For the funnies. Everyone will remember that.

Outside the bar

Blazer will come out to meet you. Tell her what happened.

I chose “Guy fell down.”

Billboard facing Hollywood Sign

After Blazer doesn’t take you to the Hollywood sign, you get to tell her how you feel.

I picked “Sorry about the spit thing.” You tell Blazer about your superhero origin. This leads to a tender moment where she takes off your mask.

I picked “Kiss Her”. She will remember that. She will then tell you the real reason she is here.

I picked “This is an interview?” You have the choice to respond to her offer.

I picked “When do I start?” She will give a VR headset and you get to now experience the dispatching part of Dispatch. Begin the tour. You will see you have requirements for answering the calls that come in. You need to match the requirements to the powers of the heroes to decide who to send.

Dispatch Training

You will then be given a roster of heroes and a chart of their powers.

So for this job, where you need to fight armed guys – you want to pick someone with “Vigor” and “Combat”. Phenomaman picks himself so you get to dispatch him. Once he returns to the base, he will be resting and then you need to review his performance.  Looks like he was the right match for the call. The higher the match is the skillset to the requirement, the better the dispatched hero will do. The next call will come in now.

You need to dispatch a hero who can investigate and decode clues. It seems like Brainbook is the first choice.

Sending her should get you 100% in the review score. The third call is an Art Exhibit Opening. It requires some with charisma and public speaking. Sweetalker seems like the obvious choice. You can add a second hero if you want.

Suddenly, disaster strikes. The speech is apparently boring, so you need to choose to spice things up.

These choices need to match the dispatched hero’s skill. If you select something that hero can’t do – or do well, there will be consequences on the rating. As this is wrapping up three new calls will come in. All the calls are on timers – you need to manage the calls that are running down faster.

For the “High Speed Chase” you need someone with Speed and Combat. I sent Pom Pom and Equilibrium.

For the “Attack on the Hospital” call, you need someone who has high Vigor and Combat. I sent Phenomaman.

For the “Monster Attack” call you need someone/team with Vigor and Charisma. I sent a 3 man team of Pom Pom, Sweetalker and Brainbook.

For the “Attack on the Hospital” call you have to choose a further course of action – I saw that 3 of my options are locked out because of not having the “correct” hero. I picked “Rough up and round up the goons.”

For the call “Negotiate with Hostage Takers”, you need someone with Charisma and Combat/Vigor. I only had Brickhouse available so I sent her off.

For the call “Help Grandma cross the Road”, I needed someone with Charm and Speed. I sent off Equilibrium.

For the final call “Chase El Diabolito” I sent off Phenomaman, Pom Pom, Sweetalker and Brainbook.

Blazer will leave now and ask you to meet her tomorrow.

Home

You can choose to feed the good boy at home.

I chose to “Give him cereal.” This will end Episode 1 where you can see where you stand with the player base in terms of choices you made.
