Join us at Into Indie Games as we make our way through the Shimmering Caverns area of Divinum.
Fjor has made her way through the Twisted Warrens and managed to snag one of the two keys needed to unlock the Closed Gate. But there is still one key left to find before she can continue her journey.
Now, Fjor needs to head to the opposite side of the Glyph and make her way through the Shimmering Caverns to track down the second key. Once she has both keys, she can finally unlock the Closed Gate and continue forward.

Mark The Location For Later – 2

Fast travel to the Glyph near the Closed Gates and go right to reach the Shimmering Caverns area.
After you enter, go right and you will spot some platforms that you can climb up to. However, when you do, you won’t be able to reach the other side and make the platform.

So for now, mark this location on your map, and we’ll go back to it later after obtaining the movement ability needed for it.
Locate The Cursed Seal

Continue going right and go to the next room. Progress right and restore the Glyph here. Before you continue, make sure to grab any skill or change any rune.

When you’re done, head right and defeat the enemies along the way. Eventually, the path will split into two, one up and one down.

Go up and you will encounter another Cursed Seal. As usual, try to attempt the first two challenges, and if you find yourself struggling with the third one, you can always come back later.
Locate The Trial Of Aspiration

Moving along, head back and this time drop down. Follow the way left until you reach a dead end, then climb up.
You will see some breakable walls in the corner. Attack the wall, and it will reveal the location of another area. It will also unlock a shortcut back to the Glyph on the surface.

You should definitely do the Search one of these challenges, as they are always so easy, and if you have extra patience, attempt the Pursuit and the Breakthrough.
Don’t waste too much time here, as you can always come back.
On To The Next Glyph

Moving along from the Glyph, go right again, past the Cursed Seal, and then climb up.

You will notice a Crystal Barrier with a Crystal behind it. We will unlock the ability to remove these later in this location, so just ignore them for now.

Climb up all the way to the top and then go right to go to the next room. Go right and avoid the energy bolts falling from above until you reach the end. Climb up again, and you will find a Glyph that you can restore.
Unlock Crystalline Resonator

From the Glyph, jump across to the left and carry on this way until you reach a crystal. As soon as you approach it, it will trigger a combat encounter. You must survive and defeat all the enemies here.
Once that’s done, an item will spawn just above the crystal. Jump to it to unlock the Crystalline Resonator.

This allows you to hit the energy bolts, the white projectiles coming from above, to empower them and gain the ability to destroy Crystals and shatter Crystal Barriers.
Now, the perfect practice for this is in this very same room, as you have multiple energy bolts here. Head to one of them and time your attack with the bolt to direct it toward the crystal.
If done right, the crystal will be destroyed, and it will remove both Crystal Barriers at the two edges.
On To The Next Glyph

Go to the left until you reach the end, then climb up. You will see another crystal that you need to destroy. Time your jump and attack with the energy bolt coming from the ground and destroy it.

Jump across and destroy the breakable wall at the top, then continue your way right, and you will find another crystal. For this one, you need to Wall Climb to the left and wait for the energy bolt.

Once it gets closer, jump and attack. This took us a few tries because the timing was a bit tricky. Continue right and head down, then use the new ability to destroy both crystals blocking the way.

Destroy the breakable wall at the bottom, and you will be back at the Glyph.

With your new ability, you will be able to access new areas in the Caverns. Starting from the Glyph, drop down and go to the left to return to the previous room.

Drop all the way down until you spot the crystal, but there is an enemy guarding the way, so you need to defeat it first. Once the passage is clear, go right to reach the next room.

Go right and time your jump attack with the energy bolt to destroy the crystal and clear the passage. Keep going right and climb up to reach another Glyph. Restore it.
Grab The Life Orb Shard

From this Glyph, there are two main paths, one to the right side and one down. We started by going down. The path is dangerous because there are sequences of horizontal traps that continuously fire energy bolts.

Carefully navigate this section and then drop down to reach the next room. In this room, go right and then climb up, and you will spot a Crystal Barrier.

Wall Climb and slide down slowly. You will see the crystal that you need to destroy. Wait for the energy bolt and hit it to destroy the barrier.

Continue right, and you will find another barrier. This one is a bit tricky. You need to Wall Climb right, wait for the energy bolt, then jump and attack right to hit the crystal.

Keep going right, and this time you need to make your way up again. Of course, there are Crystal Barriers, but these are easy to hit.

At the top, go left and you will have a combat encounter, but there are constantly energy bolts firing horizontally and vertically. The trick here is to use them to your advantage, as they deal a lot of damage.

After you’ve successfully completed this, climb up and go left, then drop down and hit the energy bolt to destroy the barrier and continue left.

Keep progressing down as you destroy the crystals to clear the path, and eventually you will be able to spot a Life Orb below.

What you need to do here is first climb all the way up and destroy the crystal at the top. This will remove the barrier with thorns. From there, you can destroy the crystal to the left, and it will remove the barrier below it.

Drop down and destroy the final crystal so you will be able to reach the Life Orb. Destroy the breakable wall, and you will be able to backtrack.
Back To The Main Path

Back at the recent Glyph, it’s time to head right. The room will get blocked, and you will have another combat encounter to finish.

This time, you have enemies standing on the three steps across, and the only way to defeat them is by redirecting the energy orbs to their location.

After you get rid of all the enemies, the path will be clear, and you can move forward to the right and cross the crystal bridge. Before you destroy the crystal on the other side, be prepared for a boss fight.
Defeat Varrok

Varrok is another easy boss fight, and he is the regular cavern enemy riding the spiked beast.
One of his first attacks is raising his spear and opening a hole on the beast’s back, which then shoots crystals in the direction it is facing.

If Fjor keeps her distance, Varrok can also jump toward her and plunge his spear into the ground, causing crystal shards to erupt from the ground. Sometimes he can use this attack without jumping toward Fjor.
This can give you a great opening to attack if you dodge to the other side quickly.

Every now and then, energy bolts will fall from the top, and you can use them to your advantage to deal good damage. The number and speed of the projectiles increase as Varrok’s health decreases.
Another attack Varrok can use is similar to the one Klyssa used. He will raise his staff, and several white-green indicator lines will appear across the arena. Each line will drop an energy bolt.

Instead of just playing this safely, what you want to do is one of two things.
First, you can either stand next to Varrok and attack him during the attack animation, or you can use your ability and hit him with the energy bolt.

After you take half of his health, he will get more aggressive and add a couple of attacks to his arsenal. For example, Varrok will summon two black holes at both edges of the screen and charge at you.
When he reaches the end, he will go through the black hole and teleport to the other one, then charge again.
He will do this a few times, and basically, he is dangerous here. The best thing you can do is Wall Climb on the closest side and wait for this attack to finish.

In addition to that, he can also summon a smaller black hole that moves sideways and shoots ice shards in your direction. Simply track it down and avoid the projectiles.
Grab The Crystalline Key

After you defeat Varrok, go left and obtain the Crystalline Key. This is the second key required to unlock the Closed Gates.
Grab The Rune Slot

Before you leave the Caverns, there are a few things that you can grab here. From Varrok’s boss fight, head all the way to the right, and you will find the item that will grant you an additional Rune Slot.
Grab The Vengeance Rune

Head back to the Cursed Seal and go right, then drop down. You will see another Crystal Barrier.

Destroy the crystal to remove it and drop down.
And with that, we wrap up another walkthrough for Divinum. Thanks for checking it out!
