Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined – Walkthrough Part 10: Hardlypool’s Musician

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Walkthrough

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined takes you through many islands, with each one offering a unique and challenging mystery. You’ll have to face many challenges as you free these islands from the influence of the Demon King to restore them to the present world. For more information on the game, don’t forget to visit its official Steam page here.

Hardlypool becomes available after you’ve cleared Al-Balad. You’ll have to interact with the right-most blue pedestal to travel to this region.

The Town Of Hardlypool

As you arrive in the region, you’ll find Hardlypool near the teleporter. It’s nighttime when you arrive in the town.

The residents will tell you that an old musician arrived just a day ago, and you could’ve met him if you had come a day earlier.

There’s a stone fragment in the house towards the north of the town. It’s the building next to the small pond. You have to go through a tunnel through the city to reach the other two cities, but the tunnel is closed at night.

You’ll have to rest at the mayor’s place for the night. Talk to the mayor, and you’ll be able to sleep.

The Disappearances

In the morning, you’ll realize that all the villagers of Hardlypool have disappeared. There’s no sign of any human beings in the area. Now, you have to head through the tunnel.

Once you’ve travelled through the tunnel going through the mountain, you’ll arrive in the part of the island where you can find Wetlock to the east, while the town of Spilton-on-Sea is to the southwest.

First, you have to head to Spilton-on-Sea. As you arrive here and talk to the residents of the town, you’ll find out that the same musician from Hardlypool had arrived here and stayed at the inn last night.

Go to the inn and talk to the man at the counter. He’ll tell you that the musician left early in the morning for Wetlock. He asks if you want to stay the night at the inn.

You have to accept his offer, but in the morning, you’ll find the residents of Spilton-on-Sea have also disappeared.

Wetlock

Now, you have to head towards Wetlock. As you arrive in the city, you’ll find the old musician playing in the centre of the town. Everyone is listening to him and loves his music. The man then abruptly leaves the town after playing.

However, the local inn owner announces a discount to anyone who’s staying the night. You have to go to the inn and stay the night.

You’ll wake up just before dawn. If you head out, you’ll find the old musician playing a tone and the entire town is walking towards the portal in front of him and disappearing.

After he’s done teleporting everyone, he’ll jump into the portal himself. Hurry and jump after him. You’ll then be teleported to the Hardlypool Tower.

The Hardlypool Tower

You’ll arrive on the bottom floor of the Tower. From here, you can go to the only underground level. Here, you’ll find a talkative slime. This slime will tell you that the villagers are locked behind a giant door on the upper floors of the tower.

Go back upstairs and keep going up. The villagers are on Level 3 of the tower. Open the gate and get inside. There’s another door near the northeast corner of the area. Talk to the boy, and he’ll open the door for you.

From here, you’ll find the musician on Level 5 of the tower. A cutscene will play that will show the entirety of the region being submerged by water. The musician had saved everyone.

However, the source of the water was still down there. The old man will reveal himself to be a member of the Roamers of the past. He asks you to get the boat on the bottom floors and head out into the sea to find the source of all this evil in the region, Gracos.

Gracos resides in the Sunken Citadel, but its location is currently unknown. You’ll have to take the boat.

Seeking The Sunken Citadel

Take the boat and travel to the submerged villages. You’ll find a few survivors in each village, and some of them can help you pinpoint the Sunken Citadel’s location.

Once you’re done, head to the southeast corner of the island. You’ll find the Sunken Citadel in that direction. You’ll be able to go down there, and then you’ll have to fight against Gracos.

Gracos

Before you can fight Gracos, you’ll have to deal with Sunken Spirits. Once you’ve defeated these enemies, Old Man Riffer, the Musician, will appear. He’ll use his music to stop the sunken spirits, so you can face off against Gracos.

Old Man Riffer helps you out during the battle, resurrecting and healing your party, while also dealing damage to the boss.

Gracos is weak to fire spells, such as Frizzle and Sizzle. Once Gracos gets fired up and starts to glow, his elemental weakness changes to Ice, and you’ll have to use spells like Crack or Crackle to deal more damage to the boss.

After you’ve defeated Gracos, Old Man Riffer will teleport you to Hardlypool Tower. Once you reach the bottom floor of the tower, Old Man Riffer will come again, and he’ll give you a stone fragment.

Wetlock’s Reward

Head to Wetlock and talk to the mayor there. He asks you to take your rewards from the storeroom. However, you’ll have to reach for the raft in the northeast part of the town.

Take the raft and travel left on the stream until you arrive in the storeroom. Here, you’ll find a stone fragment, as well as the Mermaid Moon. The Mermaid Moon is required to obtain the Flying Carpet from La Bravoure in the present.

To The Present

As you approach the Hardlypool region in the present, you’ll find a teleporter where the Sunken Citadel was. You can get down to the Sunken Citadel with it.

You’ll have to fight Gracos V. Keep in mind that Gracos V is quite challenging to fight against, especially since you don’t have Old Man Riffer helping you out. After defeating him, you’ll get a stone fragment.

You can also head over to Wetlock. As you arrive here, you’ll find that the current leader of the town is also a researcher. He uncovers a stone fragment, but asks you to go and defeat the monster at the top of Hardlypool Tower first.

Head to the Tower’s top floor, and you’ll encounter the Ethereal Serpent here. Defeat the dragon and return to the researcher. He’ll ask you to pick the stone tablet from the storeroom.

You can take the raft and go to the storeroom again in the present to pick up the stone fragment.
