Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined – Walkthrough Part 3: Emberdale’s Fire Festival

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Walkthrough

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined begins on Estard Island, which is entirely isolated in the endless ocean. However, with your friend’s help, you might be able to gather these mysterious stone fragments and restore the neighbouring islands, but it’s not going to be easy. For more information on the game, please visit the game’s official Steam page here.

So far into the game, you should’ve cleared the Ballymolloy region, and the island would have appeared on the map near Estard Island. After you’ve obtained the two stone fragments from the newly emerged Ballymolloy island, head to the Shrine of Mysteries and assemble the fragments into the pedestal. You should have enough red fragments now to fully complete one red pedestal, and that will take you to the Emberdale region.

Ominious Vision

As you travel to this new world, you will see a strange vision where a gigantic volcano erupts, engulfing everything around it in massive flames.

After arriving, you’ll notice that Maribel and Kiefer also had the same vision. However, the town and the volcano look normal for now, so it appears that the eruption has yet to happen.

Unfortunately, you’d notice that the portal leading back to Estard Island has been blocked by a stray volcano rock, and it’s too large for you and Kiefer to move on your own, so you’re stuck here for the time being.

The trio decides to head to the nearby village to gather more information about what exactly is going on here.

Emberdale Village

Emberdale Village appears to be a fairly normal village. However, there seems to be preparations for a massive, once-in-a-year, Fire Festival going on.

There are two people of interest here: the Gaffer and Palmela, the fortune teller. First, you’ll have to find the Gaffer, who’s in the only two-story building in the town, next to the church.

As you talk to the villagers, you’ll also notice that the village has been experiencing many tremors lately. They consider it a sign of the arrival of the time for the fire festival.

Head inside the building next to the church and you’ll find the Gaffer upstairs. As you talk to the Gaffer and try to explain your vision, he doesn’t believe you, claiming that the Fire Spirit would never harm the fire-worshipping villagers.

Palmela’s Worry

As you head out of the Gaffer’s house, Kiefer will talk to you for a moment, claiming that the Gaffer doesn’t seem to be interested in what you have to say. Meanwhile, you’ll hear some ruckus in the middle of the village.

Go to the middle of the village, and here, you’ll find Palmela. Palmela has had a vision of the volcano, called Mount Burnmont, erupting and engulfing the village in flames.

She claims that this will happen once the Fire Ritual is over, but none of the villagers wants to believe her. In the meantime, the Gaffer will appear and talk to Palmela.

The Gaffer asks Palmela not to say such things in front of everyone, as it might cause panic. While the Gaffer is speaking to Palmela, a tremor happens, and the Gaffer blames it on Palmela’s rambling.

Despite Palmela’s efforts, the Gaffer announces that he’ll be getting along with the festival, and it will be happening tonight. Once everyone leaves, Palmela turns to you, asking you to come see her in the trading post.

Palmela’s Plan

You’ll have to head to the shop in the village. You can find it towards the west, and it’s a building with a dome on top of it. As you head inside, you’ll find Palmela in a room.

Talk to Palmela, and you’ll inform her about your vision. Palmela had the same vision, and she thinks you have the power to stop it. She asks if you’d be willing to help you save the village.

Palmela will also tell you that no one is allowed at Burnmont unless during the Fire Ritual, so we’ll have to wait till night to make our move.

She asks you to go to the inn and have a nap till its time for the Fire Ritual, and then you can head to the volcano to see what’s going on there.

Head over to the inn, and they’d be letting you sleep till night for free due to the festival.

The Fire Festival

As you wake up, you’ll find out that it’s already nighttime and everyone is celebrating the festival. Go and talk to the Gaffer in the middle of the village.

The Gaffer doesn’t seem to be willing to stop the Fire Ritual from happening, and he asks you to go and see Palmela in the shop.

Return to the shop and talk to Palmela. She says that the path to the mountain won’t open unless it’s time for the Fire Ritual, and you’ll notice when that happens as everyone prepares to head to the volcano.

As you leave the shop after talking to Palmela, you’ll find everyone wearing flaming hats. Go and talk to the Gaffer in the north-west part of the town. He’d give the trio flaming hats as well, and ask if you’re reading for the ritual.

The Fire Ritual

As the ritual begins, you’ll find yourself at the end of a lengthy queue. The last lady in the queue is the one that you saw in the vision before the eruption triggers.

Here, you have to walk straight up and talk to the person who’s first in the queue. They’d be very proud of being the first, but while they’re talking to you, the Gaffer will show up.

The Gaffer will then ask who’s first in the queue, but as he sees you, the guests from afar, he’d be willing to let you do the honor first.

Go inside the volcano and talk to the Gaffer there. He’d first throw his flaming hat in the volcano, and ask the trio to do the same. Once you’ve done so, go and talk to Palmela, who’s standing on the other side of the area.

Mount Burnmont

Palmela asks you to go and have a look at the volcano’s belly to see what’s going on there. She says she can’t go in there by herself because of the monsters.

As you head inside the volcano, you’ll find a statue where you can save and heal yourself before heading deeper into the volcano. Keep in mind that Palmela tells you that there’s not much time, and as you progress through the area, you’ll see more and more people fulfilling the ritual.

After you go downstairs in the volcano, you’ll find yourself on Level 5 of Burnmount. From here, you can see the signposts leading you deeper into the volcano.

Keep following the signposts until you arrive at a large crater. From here, you have to jump down multiple times to get to the bottom. There will be a few enemies here, but keep falling down to get to the bottom.

Glowering Inferno

Once you’re at the bottom, you’ll find a statue here. Heal yourself at the statue and go to the centre of the area, where you’ll find the Glowering Inferno talking about erupting the volcano.

There’s a ball of black flames that has been collecting all the flaming hats falling from above during the ritual, and according to the Glowering Inferno, once everyone has thrown in their flaming hats, the black flames will have enough energy to make the volcano erupt.

The Glowering Inferno then turns to you and will start to attack you. This boss is weak to water and ice, and physical attacks will be extremely useful in this battle.

With Maribel, you’ll have to cast Crack as much as possible, as it deals ice damage. For your character, keep using the Aqua Slash move as much as possible. Kiefer can keep using Helmsplitter to reduce the boss’s defence.

The boss also deals a ton of damage, so make sure you’ve got some medicinal herbs and don’t hesitate to use them because your main character can only heal one character per turn for now, and having the main character use Aqua Slash is far more effective than having him keep healing the allies.

In the middle of the battle, Glowering Inferno will start to glow and raise its defence. Now, all your magic attacks, such as Crack, will deal significantly less damage. During this phase, you’ll have to rely on physical attacks. Fortunately, Aqua Slash will still deal a big chunk of damage.

Once it stops glowing, you can then start using magic on it again. Keep this up, and you’ll be able to defeat it. The Glowering Inferno drops a Red Fragment on defeat.

The Black Flame

After being defeated, the Glowering Inferno will disappear. However, it claims that the Black Flame will still remain active and explode the volcano in due time, even after you’ve defeated it.

The ball of Black Flame will go up from the belly. Now, you have to make your way back up. You’ll find a hole leading you down, and from there, it’s a straight path back to the top, as you’ll keep finding staircases on the straight path.

Once you’re back at the Ritual Place, talk to Palmela. She’ll ask you what you saw and did at the belly of the volcano. After learning anything, she remains clueless about what you’re supposed to do about the Black Flame.

After some words from the Gaffer, Palmela uses her supernatural powers to see a way to extinguish the Black Flame, and she finds the answer.

She sees a vision of a strange man, holding a bottle with liquid in it. She also sees you in the vision and asks if you know who this person might be.

Of course, it’s Uncle Pike, and the bottle in question is what you still have in your possession. It appears that the water from the Rainbow Cove back on Estard Island is capable of extinguishing the Black Flame.

You’ll then throw the bottle of holy water on the Black Flame, extinguishing it completely. Once the threat disappears, the Gaffer announces the end of the year’s Fire Ritual and asks if there’s any way the village can help you out as well.

Celebrations

After hearing the Gaffer’s offer, Kiefer asks if the villagers could get rid of the rock on the teleporter outside of the village, because that’s how they can return home, and the Gaffer agrees.

The Gaffer also invites the trio back to the village for a night of celebration. The trio then returns to the village and celebrates, finally finding rest at the inn.

In the morning, you’ll be woken up and find out that the villagers have removed the rock, and you can use the teleporter to get back to Estard Island again.

As you exit the inn, you’ll find Palmela waiting for you there. She gives you a green fragment as a reward for your help, saying that you might have more use for it than herself.

A Not-So-Warm Welcome

After you use the teleporter, you’ll return to the Shrine of Mysteries. Kiefer suggests that you immediately head to the King of Estard to ask if any new islands have appeared nearby.

Enter the world map and make your way to the Estard Castle. As you arrive there, you’ll find Dermot alongside the King, and it appears that they’ve noticed your efforts. King Donald says that Dermot has told him there used to be many islands around Estard, but they disappeared for some reason.

Kiefer and his friends’ efforts have been bringing these islands back to the ocean. However, the King awaits his soldiers to return, as he had sent them to check if a new island had emerged.

In the meantime, a soldier will come, bringing a report that a new island with a volcano has indeed appeared, a little north of Ballymolloy Island.

Despite Kiefer and his friends’ good intentions, the king forbids Kiefer from going out to adventure again. Maribel’s father, the Mayor, also arrives in the castle, forbidding her from going on adventures again. Pollock, your father, will also arrive to take you back home.

A Test Of Determination

Once you’re back home, Pollock sits you down and asks what you want to do. If you want to continue on your adventure even if you have to do it all alone, he’s okay with it. He then asks you to go and sleep in your room.

The next morning, you’ll find that your father has already left. As you exit your home, you’ll find Maribel. Fortunately, she was also able to convince her father to let her continue the adventure, but the same can’t be said for Kiefer.

You’ll then have to head to the secret cave in the western part of the town to get to your ship. However, you and Maribel can’t seem to move the stone by yourself. You’ll have to exit the cave, and here, you’ll find Kiefer.

Kiefer managed to sneak out of the castle by jumping into the river. Fortunately, your father Pollock had been keeping an eye on him to see what he did to sneak out to help him and was able to save him in time.

After that, you can head to the ship in the cave to check out the new island. Make your way towards the north of Ballymolloy Island.

Another Adventure Awaits

As you arrive on Emberdale Island, you’ll have to head to the village to see what has happened. It appears that the village you helped was in the past, and is quite different from the modern Emberdale.

Here, you have to go to the shop where Palmela used to be. You can talk to her here, and you’ll find out that the current Palmela is different from the one that you once knew.

According to the current Palmela, the name is passed on to the women with the gift of fortune-telling in the family. Your job here is to find the stone fragment, which is in the same room as Palmela.

Once you’ve acquired this green fragment, you can use Zoom to return to the shrine of mysteries. Put the fragments on a green pedestal to unlock the next adventure.

Additionally, there’s one more stone fragment in present-day Burnmont. But you’ll have to go to the deepest part of the volcano, where you fought the Growling Inferno in the past, and jump through the hole in that level to find the stone fragment.
