Dragon Shelter: Prologue Walkthrough

Here is our complete Dragon Shelter Prologue walkthrough.

Dragon Shelter is a wholesome farming sim where you inherit your grandfather’s farm and learn about the dragons in the area. Gradually, you will adopt dragons and restore the relationship between humans and dragons. If you have played Stardew Valley or Fields of Mistria, Dragon Shelter will feel a bit similar. Please check out the game’s Steam page if you’re interested.

The Beginning

Dragon Shelter Prologue
Creating Our Character.

Like other farming sims, you have to create your character first. After you’re satisfied with their look, a cutscene will begin, and you will finally reach your farm. Here, the first objective is to collect three berries (look for red dots on tall grass), and then eat one of them; either press the numbered key dedicated to the berries’ slot or click on it from the inventory at the bottom.

Once done, go north to find Grandpa’s house and head inside. However, it’s a mess, and Grandpa is nowhere to be found. Since the bed is broken, we have to fix it to sleep and replenish our energy, which is indicated by the yellow bar at the bottom right. Interact with the chest in the room and retrieve the rusty axe and hammer.

Dragon Shelter Prologue
Entering The Town.
Tip: Hold shift and then click on an item in the chest to immediately put them into your inventory.

Leave the house and break one of the cherry blossom trees to gain wood from it. Now, return to the house and repair the bed to sleep for the day. The protagonist mentions the nearby pond that is bubbling, and for answers, we need to go to the town and talk to the Mayor.

Since you don’t have a map right now, navigating through the garden without any clues can be a bit difficult. To reach the town, return to the beginning cutscene’s path to go there. As soon as you reach the town, look left to find Mayor Augustine.

The Town

Dragon Shelter Prologue
Talking To The Mayor.

Talk to Mayor Augustine and ask him about the bubbles inside the pond near your house. Although he knows about it, he says that nobody has dared to check it out; he can’t tell us anything about the bubbles. Now, we need to settle here. First, talk to everyone in the town:

  • Blacksmith Hugh
  • Carpenter Wilhelm
  • Merchant Rufus
  • Gardener Leah

The town feels gloomy rather than lively, and our job here is to help everyone. After talking to the aforementioned residents, you will receive their quests. Here is how you complete them:

Merchant Rufus | The Merchant’s Request

Dragon Shelter Prologue
The Carpenter, Wilhelm.

Rufus has requested that we sell him 5 berries. For berries, return to Grandpa’s house, and you will find a handful of them in the garden. Collect 5 berries and return to Rufus to sell them to him. With the money you have received from the berries, buy a Shovel for 25 coins.

Once bought, talk to Rufus and his quest will end.

Blacksmith Hugh | The Blacksmith’s Request

Dragon Shelter Prologue
Leaving The Town.

Hugh is the blacksmith of the town, and he has asked us to bring him six sticks and four logs. For that, return to the house and use the axe to break trees and small branches to receive sticks and wood. Collect enough for the quest, then return to Hugh and talk to him.

With this, the Blacksmith will craft items for you, and the quest will end.

Note: If it goes past 10 PM, then please return home, sleep, and continue quests the next day.

Gardener Leah | The Gardener’s Request

Dragon Shelter Prologue
Digging Ground Beds.

Leah is the gardener of the town, and she gives us four wheat seeds to plant near our house. Use the shovel you bought from Rufus to dig four garden beds, then select the wheat seeds from your inventory and place them in the beds.

Now, use the Watering Can to water all garden beds. Every action consumes your energy, so keep an eye on that as well. It takes two days to grow wheat; sleep and water the beds every day. If you see sparkles over the bed, collect the wheat and return to the town to talk to Leah, and the quest will end.

Carpenter Wilhelm | The Carpenter’s Request

Dragon Shelter Prologue
Talking To Mayor Augustine.

To help Carpenter Wilhelm in Dragon Shelter, first farm four logs, then repair his cart. Lastly, talk to the Carpenter, and his quest will come to an end.

After helping everyone in the town, talk to the Mayor again, and he will ask us to talk to the Carpenter; he will lend us a cooking set. Wilhelm will give you a Foundation, then talk to the Mayor to receive some cooking recipes.

With that, return to your house and start clearing out the required area for the kitchen’s foundation.

Kitchen and Cooking

Dragon Shelter Prologue
Placing The Kitchen.

Place the kitchen’s foundation. Now, it’s time to cook some food for the Mayor first. In the kitchen, place logs and wheat in the two chests. Take the wheat, separate it from the grinder, and put some water into the flour. Mash it on the table, then put it into the bakery.

For baking, pick the log from the chest and put it inside the bakery. Pick up the matches to light it on fire, and wait for the bread to bake. When the timer ends, take the bread out and place it on the table. Finally, take the bread from storage and return to the town.

The Mayor will thank us for the bread and ask us to talk to the Merchant. To make trading easier for the town, the Merchant asks us to bring some jam for him. However, we need the right items to cook it first. Talk to the Carpenter to get multiple glass jars for the jam. He has lost them across town, and to find them, he asks us to clear the debris and bring him four logs.

Baking Bread.

The debris is the giant collection of rocks found at the town’s south. Break them using the pickaxe, then cut down the tree with your axe for the logs. Once you’re done, talk to the Carpenter again, and he will put every item required to cook jam in the chest near you. Put them into your inventory and sleep for the day.

Place all the items you took from the Carpenter’s chest in the kitchen, select the order from the board, and start cooking. First, take the berry and crush it to get its juice. Take a plate, put the crushed berries, sugar, and water in the cauldron, and place wood beneath the stove to start a fire.

Meeting Our First Dragon

The Water Dragon In The Pond.

Wait for it to cook, then take a jar and put the jam inside it. Suddenly, a dragon will appear near the kitchen. Pet and follow it to the pond. Remember the bubbles? It was the Water Dragon inside the pond. Give it some berries, and to tame it, you will have to make jam again.

Repeat the entire process, and feed the dragon. It will love the jam; now equip the flute to tame it. Again, return to the kitchen and make jam with the dragon. But this time, the dragon will be helping you with everything. After it cooks the jam, untie the dragon and give it to the Merchant.

He will agree to sell the nails in the town, then talk to the Mayor about the dragon. Hearing this, he believes that the town can come back to life. Now, show the dragon to everyone in town. When the Blacksmith sees the dragon, he will ask us to command it to fill the barrel with water.

Friendship With The Dragon.

Equip the flute and click on the barrel to command the dragon. After that, buy a stone tool (Stone Axe is preferred) from the Blacksmith. Next, show the dragon to the Merchant, and he will ask us to keep it happy (petting) and well fed. To feed the dragon properly, click on it in the top left to see what it likes. Make the food in the kitchen, then feed it. With that, the dragon will give you joy and talk to the Merchant again.

After talking to the Merchant, meet with the Carpenter. For the dragon’s enjoyment, he will offer to make a trampoline, which requires 10 logs, 10 branches, and 2 copper ores. If you’re unfamiliar, you can find copper ore near your house; use a new pickaxe to break it. Collect them, return to the Carpenter, create a trampoline, and sleep for the day.

Showing the Dragon To The Mayor.

Take the trampoline from the Carpenter’s storage and place it near your house. The dragon will use it to refill its joy meter, then talk to the Carpenter again. And here, the Carpenter’s questline ends. After the Carpenter, talk to the Gardener. She becomes ecstatic to meet a living dragon and gives us numerous water flower seeds to plant.

Now, take the seeds home, use the shovel to create a garden bed, command the dragon to water it, plant the seeds (four seeds are required), and the dragon will water them. For the flowers, you will have to wait two days. Once they bloom, take one of them and feed it to the dragon, then show the remaining flowers to the Gardener. She will become happy, and with that, this quest comes to an end.

Showing The Dragon To Leah.

Finally, talk to the Mayor, and our prologue will come to an end. From here, keep looking out for orders from the residents. But you may ask: What should I do after the prologue?

Dragon Shelter is an endless farming simulator similar to Stardew Valley and Fields of Mistria. Once the prologue ends, your job is to maintain your relationship with the town residents (Mayor, Gardener, Carpenter, Blacksmith, and Merchant).

So, keep playing the game, have a better relationship with the inhabitants, and check their event dates in the inhabitants’ calendar by clicking on the dragon’s image at the top left. That’s all you have to do, and gradually, you will unlock the other dragons.

There are four types of dragons in Dragon Shelter: Fire, Water, Earth, and Electric. Every dragon has different capabilities, which can be found in the inhabitants section.

Here, our Dragon Shelter Prologue walkthrough comes to an end.
