In this walkthrough, we will cover DragonSword: Awakening Chapter 4.
On Lord Ewald’s request, our party sought out the third of the Six Heroes: Barduk, a legendary sage who provides us with more information about the battle with Arugal. However, the meeting with him ends in a tragedy and Lute’s awakening. The party takes a rest, and now we’re ready for our next adventures.

Return to Normal Life

After King Kalsion defends Lord Ewald, leave the library and talk to Johnny in the throne room. He decides to report the recent quests to the mercenary guild, keeping the state secrets to himself and his party. Exit the castle and talk to Anne at the guild reception.
Everyone reports the quest to her, but according to Anne, Lord Ewald’s quest is still ongoing. However, it’s been resolved, and the party learns about how the rumors of an Origin Dragon have been circling. Now, when the conversation ends, talk to Johnny.

Despite how the meeting with Barduk went, he still wants to look for the other of the Six Heroes at Lord Ewald’s request. King Kalsion asked us to rest until he calls us for another quest, so Johnny tells everyone to take a short break. When everyone leaves, go to the Six Heroes’ statue, and Lute will contemplate his conversation with his grandpa.
After that, go to the Orbis Castle’s east gate and meet Castella. They talk about Johnny’s reason for becoming a mercenary, but Castella is oblivious despite being with him for the longest time. Go to the Cemetery of Rest, and the quest will end.
Unchanging Daily Life

Johnny is already there. Talk to him, and Lute will say he came here on Castella’s request, as he doesn’t want to stay alone since it makes him “think of useless things.” So, Johnny tells Lute to follow him. Go to the inner grave area to find him sitting near a grave.
All the graves in this area belong to the soldiers who fought against Arugal along with the Six Heroes. Unfortunately, their actions went unrecorded, and all the credit went to the major heroes. Johnny despises them for drawing blades against each other for Arugal’s heart, but he understands that, despite their journey’s sour end, they saved everyone from the threat.

So, he decides to walk a different path from the heroes. Suddenly, Lute asks multiple questions about the fight with Barduk, and Johnny dodges them every single time to avoid letting him know about his half-dragon awakening. After this, return to the castle and talk to Castella.
The short break has ended, and the party decides to end their time with a dinner. Go to the Amber Company Trading Street to find Johnny at a table talking with people who tell tales about their fights. He tells the party to leave momentarily, then meet the promoting man at the back street. He’s promoting a beer-chugging contest, and Castella decides to join it.

She fails poorly. Talk to her, and she’ll collapse to the ground. A royal soldier will come to them and ask them to arrive at the castle before dawn tomorrow, as per King Kalsion’s request. Lute accepts and asks the guard to help him pick up Castella. The quest ends here.
Barduk’s Legacy

Head to King Roderic’s Castle and talk to King Kalsion. There, Johnny confirms that he wants to continue finding the Six Heroes for Lord Ewald, making King Kalsion surprised, as he believed that Johnny and his mercenaries would abandon the quest.
Before we continue, Kalsion asks us to finish the job that Barduk started: Repair the Barrier Stone with the remaining fragments; the kingdom will help us. While the party believes they’re not experienced with something like this, the king tells us to take Cerese’s help for it.

Meet her in the secret library. According to her, there are three Barrier Stones under the protection of the powerful factions. Barduk had one of them, and the best way to find that stone is to revisit the Skyspire Rock Mountain; the other two factions are currently unavailable.
Exit the castle and head towards the Skyspire Rock Mountain. Head inside it and keep climbing until you reach three platforms. From there, jump down and glide to your left until you reach a cave. You will find Cerese there. Talk to her, and she will drop the barrier that blocks the path to the stone.

Once the path is cleared, go inside and climb until you reach the Barrier Stone. Interact with it to strengthen it, and then talk to Cerese again. She will tell you about the locations of the other two stones: The Cathedral and the Royal Palace.
With this, the “Barduk’s Legacy” ends.
Northern Barrier Stone

With the first Barrier Stone’s reactivation being successful, it’s time we move towards the second one. First, we have to talk to Ornette at Antea Grand Cathedral.
She greets us and asks us why we’re here. The party explains that they have received a quest from King Kalsion to restore the Barrier Stones, and requests her to help them with the Cathedral’s entrance. However, she is powerless at this stage and asks us to take Theresia; she will guide the party to the Cathedral.

Move towards the northern region of the Orbis Kingdom to find Theresia at the Breezewind Hill; there’s an Eona’s Legacy nearby; make sure to activate it before leaving. Head inside the cave, descend the staircase, and wait for Theresia to drop the barrier.

Go forward, and you will find the second Barrier Stone. Reactivate it and talk to Theresia to learn about the Steelheart Fortress, where the final Barrier Stone is located. And here, the “Northern Barrier Stone” quest ends.
Steelheart Fortress

Our next destination is the Steelheart Fortress, and to prepare for it, we need to go to the Supply Base first. It’s near the Orbis Castle, so teleport there first and then move towards the objective’s location. Talk to the Orbis Soldier at the base, and suddenly numerous monsters will raid the area.
Defeat them all, and then talk to him again. He will thank us for the help and mention how monsters in Orbis Kingdom’s north have been acting strange. Then, he’ll tell us to meet Astria, the Garisson Commander at the Steelheart Fortress; it’s all thanks to Cerese’s assistance. You will find Astria at the Fortress’ entrance. After everyone introduces themselves, head inside the fortress to end this quest.
Strange Signs

Talk to Astria at the marching area, and Aria will tell her about King Kalsion’s request to reconstruct the Barrier Stone. According to the Garisson Commander, it’s located in the Fortress’ Spire. As they talk, a soldier arrives and tells us about another monster raid.
They all seem… different, similar to what the Orbis Soldier told us at the supply base. Defeat them all, and Astria will thank you for your efforts. With this, she will lead you to the Barrier Stone. Head inside the Hall of Heroes to find the stone, and then interact with it.

This stone is the most important of all three. It’s the first Barrier Stone in existence, discovered by Lord Abel, one of the Six Heroes. Reconstruct the stone, then talk to Cerese. She’ll stay at the Fortress for the time being to adjust the Barrier Stone. After that, talk to Astria. She will tell us that the Fortress is “in a bit of a bind,” and give us two quests: Go North and help the watchtower folks, and check up on the research team.
She explains the quests, and Strange Signs will end.
The Looming Shadow

Now, we start working on Astria’s quests. Follow the objective marker to reach the watchtower in the northern part of the fortress. There will be a warp point near the watchtower, so don’t forget to activate it. Go to the watchtower, and unfortunately, it’s already under a monster raid.
Help the soldiers defeat them, and they will be grateful for your actions. Then, talk to one of the soldiers, who will tell you how the research team has gone missing and is unreachable. Additionally, according to them, the more intelligence a monster consumes, the more prone it is to enter a state of madness.

When the conversation ends, talk to Cerese. Since the research team is investigating a rare Ancient Golem, Cerese asks us to receive Monster Blood so she can assess it without trouble. From here, jump down the cliff and raid the monster camp for it.
Then, collect the herbs and return to the watchtower to talk to the Orbis Soldier. Give him the items that you collected, as Cerese is preparing for the assessment. Additionally, the soldier will tell us about the missing research team in the Thick Mist Zone. Some rescuers went into the forest and found signs that a group had entered, but they couldn’t find anyone; it’s up to us now.

“The Looming Shadow” quest ends with this conversation.
Forest of Dead Trees

It’s now time to find the missing research team. Follow the objective marker to enter the Thick Mist Zone, and talk to Johnny there. The party will decide to move forward with the rescue mission. Suddenly, Castella sees something in the thick fog. However, when you investigate it, they’re all tree monsters. Defeat them, and then you will find traces of people: a massive line on the ground seemingly made by a heavy bag.
Move deeper into the forest as you follow the lines, and you will find a broken cart along with numerous crystals. Aria speculates that these crystals were going to be used to awaken the ancient golem, but something or someone attacked the team before they reached the destination.

Suddenly, Johnny finds someone from the research team. Go and talk to the Orbis Soldier, and he will ask about his teammates. However, the party doesn’t know their whereabouts. Lute then heals him, and he reveals what happened during the expedition: Dragon Worshippers attacked them and are trying to take the ancient golem for themselves.
After this reveal, the “Forest of Dead Trees” quest ends.
Where the Giant Sleeps

Go deeper into the forest to find the remaining research team members. However, the next area is protected by a giant world boss named Pakirus the Specter of Thirst. It’s skippable, but if you wish for a challenge, then fight it. Climb the cliff using your Familiar, and get ready to fight against three Dragon Worshippers.
Defeat them along with the other monsters, and the Dragon Worshippers will call us extraordinary mercenaries. Fortunately, they didn’t find the golem yet, and after they leave, we need to find the ruins.

Follow the objective’s marker to find the dungeon where the golem resides. Once you’re ready, enter the dungeon and move forward between the cliffs to find the golem, awakened. The Dragon Worshippers got here before us, and now we have to fight the giant stone monster.

The golem is named Gallore the Collapse, and its attacks are pretty easy to dodge, as they’re delayed. Wait for it to attack first, and as soon as its fists come roaring down, dodge either left or right. Additionally, if you break the boss’ guard the first time, one of its arms will fall off.

If you manage to destroy it in time, the boss will lose it permanently, giving you an edge in this fight. Keep attacking, dodging, and using tag-combos to defeat it efficiently. After this fight, talk to Johnny, and the party will learn how the Dragon Worshippers are behind the strange monsters in the kingdom’s north. Before entering the dungeon, we fought three Dragon Worshippers, and one of them dropped a letter, which is incomprehensible to the party members.
With this boss battle, the “Where the Giant Sleeps” quest comes to an end.
Looming Crisis

For the final quest of Chapter 4, return to the Steelheart Fortress and talk to Astria. She will tell us about a loud sound she heard and how multiple monsters attacked the fortress. Thanks to Cerese, they made it through, but Astria still wants to know about that loud sound.
The party then reports everything regarding the Dragon Worshippers and the ancient golem. When Cerese arrives, she will read the Worshippers’ letter, revealing that an army of monsters is ready to attack the Orbis Kingdom, and the “descent” is in ten days.

According to Cerese, an Origin Dragon is tampering with the monsters’ minds, and it’s going to descend to the kingdom in ten days. She asks us to report it to the Royal Palace. Return to King Roderic’s Castle and talk to King Kalsion. Cerese will tell her about the Origin Dragon.
He asks about the reconstruction of the Barrier Stones. While it is successful, Cerese says that she couldn’t verify whether they have enough of Saintess Ysera’s strength to work; everything just happened at such short notice.

Lastly, King Kalsion tells us to deliver invitation letters to Saintess Ornette and Lady Lyn for a meeting to discuss the recent developments regarding the origin dragon.
And here, our DragonSword: Awakening Chapter 4 walkthrough comes to an end. After this quest, you will receive another mercenary rank promotion quest.
