In this walkthrough, we will complete DragonSword: Awakening Chapter 5.
Continuing Barduk’s legacy despite his unfortunate end, Johnny and his party manage to reconstruct three of the stone barriers that protect the Orbis Kingdom. However, the Dragon Worshippers are planning something horrific behind the scenes. We learn about a monster raid and the descent of an Origin Dragon, confirming the impending doom that looms around the kingdom. And now, we have to prepare for it.

Summoning

We report about the looming threat to King Kalsion, and he asks us to invite Saintess Ornette and Lady Ann to the council to discuss it. Talk to Johnny in King Roderic’s Palace, and he believes he can fight against an Origin Dragon; it’s always just fluff.
Following the conversation, go to the Antea Grand Cathedral and talk to Ornette. She tells us more about the existence of Dragon Worshippers, and the party invites her to the council. After that, go to Milan Main Hall and talk to Lyn. Like usual, she knows about everything happening around the kingdom. However, when the party tells her that King Kalsion has summoned her, she calls it a “tight situation.”

With both factions invited, return to King Roderic’s Palace and talk to Kalsion. He thanks us for inviting the factions on his behalf and asks us to join their meeting as witnesses to the Orbis Kingdom’s northern situation. And here, the “Summoning” quest ends.
Strategy Meeting

After conversing with King Kalsion, talk to Reina in the throne room. She announces everyone’s arrival. Both factions arrive at the throne room, and the meeting will commence. Ornette reports that the barrier still has sufficient power to remain stable, but Lyn believes that it might run out of energy soon.
Then, talk to Kalsion, and he will plan everything out, including sending elite forces to the Steelheart Fortress. Additionally, they already know Dragon Worshippers are planning to attack it, but their motive is unknown. Ornette believes they want to destroy the Barrier Stone to summon the Origin Dragon.

When Lyn asks about Barduk, talk to her. Kalsion reveals his death and asks her to keep it a secret from the kingdom’s residents. She knew something was wrong. A few moments later, the meeting ends with the party taking responsibility to learn more about the Dragon Worshippers in the north, and the quest ends.
Back to the North

Talk to King Kalsion after the meeting, and then go to the Steelheart Fortress to meet Astria. She tells us about another Dragon Worshippers’ attack, but her forces manage to sway them off easily. To learn more about them, talk to Reina in the Fortress, and she’ll decide to aid us in our mission. Additionally, she tells us about an Orc hideout, which seemingly has joined the Dragon Worshippers.
It’s time to clean it up. However, while every faction in the Orbis Kingdom is busy planning to avoid this threat, something else is brewing on the other side. The screen blacks out, and we hear two individuals conversing: Gauron and Rubens. Their conversation indicates that they’re Origin Dragons, as they mention Largo and a plan to retake the Orbis Kingdom from humans; they want to begin the Age of Dragons and destroy the Barrier Stones.

With this, the “Back to the North” ends.
Preemptive Strike

Now, we head towards the Orc Hideout. It’s in the corner of the map, so teleport to the nearest Eona’s Legacy. Go to the Rock Tribe village, defeat the scouting orcs, and infiltrate it. Since the knights are taking too long, Johnny decides to gather intelligence and defeat all the orcs by himself.
Defeat every orc in your way. Once done, the Apprentice Knight Eileen will appear and ask for your help.
Mercenaries and Knights

Talk to Eileen. She tells us that Reina and her knights were ambushed at the village’s entrance by the Lich and Skeletons, and asks us to help her. Johnny agrees. Go to her last known location and talk to Eileen again. She will lead us into the cave where she last saw Reina.
Head inside to find Reina surrounded by numerous monsters, then defeat them to save her. Talk to her once the area is clear. She’ll thank us for saving her, and the party tells her about how they saw numerous Orcs in armor, including the stockpiled gear; it’s unusual for Orcs to have this much intelligence.

Reina calls this intelligence useful, and everyone decides to return to the Steelheart Fortress, as the Dragon Worshippers are planning an immediate assault. Here, the “Mercenaries and Knights” quest ends.
Preparations

Move towards the Steelheart Fortress and talk to Astria. Reina tells her about Lich’s involvement in supporting the Dragon Worshippers and the impending raid. Everyone has to move fast. So, talk to King Kalsion at the Fortress. He’s here while Saintess Ornette is looking over the Barrier Stones, and a few moments later, Ms. Karina arrives.
She’s here with the items from Lyn’s Caravan. Remember how we carried her items to the dock? We have to do the same for her at the Fortress. So, exit through the gate before you, and carry the box to the inner area. When that’s done, head to the training grounds to complete this quest.
Feint

In the training grounds, talk to Lord Ewald. He asks whether Barduk was satisfied before his death, and jokes if Johnny’s party has a curse that brings an end to the Six Heroes; they’ve already seen two of them die, Ysera and Barduk. Suddenly, an Orbis Soldier rushes and tells us about the appearance of a Dragon Worshipper.
Talk to him. The soldier tells us that the Dragon Worshippers have released numerous monsters across multiple areas of the Kingdom, and they’re waging an all-out war. To make it worse, an Organa Acolyte arrives and reveals that the Dragon Worshippers have managed to break the barriers to the Barrier Stones, putting everyone in extreme danger. Lastly, according to the Saintess, we should be ready to see an Origin Dragon very soon.

Now, talk to Lord Ewald. Since the Dragon Worshippers intend to destroy the fortress, he believes there’s something hidden in the depths that nobody knows about. As we talk, a whole army of monsters swarm the fortress, and they break in. When Ewald decides to take on the monsters inside the fortress, he and the party see something collapsing into one of the towers.
It’s Gauron, an Origin Dragon who has successfully broken through the Barrier Stones and is looking for Lord Ewald. However, at the tower’s lower area, he finds King Kalsion and mistakes him for the Sword Saint (Ewald). Kalsion charges up his sword and gets ready to fight Gauron.

With this, the “Feint” quest comes to an end.
Siege

In the Steelheart Fortress, talk to Johnny to finally join the fight against the fortress with the fortress soldiers. Select your team, and then head into the battle.
Note: For this scenario, the recommended level is 40. If you haven't completed the promotion quest by now, I would recommend doing it.
After selecting the team, talk to Reina and then follow Eileen to find the monsters. Climb the massive staircase, defeat the monsters, and wait for Eileen to clear out the flames in your path. Continue moving forward until you reach the Marching Area. As you defeat the monsters, an Orc Assault Captain will breach into the fortress with four shielded orcs.

The fight is a bit complicated since the whole area is swarming with enemies. Take all of them out one by one, and then focus on the assault captain. To beat it easily, use Castella’s scream to break its shield, and then focus all your skills on it.
Once it is defeated, hundreds of Orcs will surround you with no way out. And here Cerese finally shows her true power. She’s an arctic mage who summons a massive ice tornado to sweep all the Orcs away in one blow. After the ice settles, talk to her. She will tell everyone to move inside the fortress to find monsters while she guards the outside.

So, head into the Inner Fortress area. However, since the paths are too complicated, the group decides to part ways. Eileen and Reina take the left door, and Johnny’s party picks the right. Fight against the first wave of monsters, and you will enter a room with falling platforms.

Make sure to remember the pattern here. If you fall, you will have to redo it. If you’re struggling, there’s an easy way to go past the platforms. Walk on the line in the middle to avoid touching the platforms. Now, use the lever to open the door ahead, and fight against the multiple skeleton enemies. Use the next lever, and ascend the staircase to go head-to-head against the notorious Lich.
It’s a creature that doesn’t do much by itself and summons skeletons for its help. All you have to do is defeat it before it overwhelms you with the skeletons while avoiding the fire orbs it throws. After defeating the Lich, talk to the fallen soldier, and he will tell you to help King Kalsion at the spire.

Rush to the Spire Bridge to reunite with Reina and Eileen, but you’ll be met with another boss: Ogre Slaughterer. If you have enough experience, the fight won’t take long.
The only thing you need to remember during this boss fight is the Slaughterer’s charging attack and the fire tornado attack that’s executed if its HP drops to 50%. After defeating it, talk to Reina to tell her that King Kalsion is fighting against the Origin Dragon at the spire. With this, enter the spire to find Kalsion struggling against Gauron.

Before Gauron executes Kalsion, Reina rushes forward to save him. And here, the fight against the Origin Dragon begins.
Gauron – Boss Fight

Gauron is a giant Origin Dragon wielding a massive axe. The first phase begins with normal attacks, which you can easily dodge. However, don’t stand too close to him, as he can swiftly swing his axe to deal devastating attacks, giving you no space to dodge.
Time your attacks and then move backwards to avoid the swings. To break his shield, Castella’s scream works the best. His attacks remain the same for this whole phase, but when you see him swinging his axe like a tornado, immediately dodge to your left to avoid it; it can eat your whole HP in two or three hits.

So, in a few moments you will deplete Gauron’s entire HP bar. However, the fight doesn’t end here. Lord Ewald soars into the battlefield and pierces Gauron with his sword. But Gauron doesn’t die. He transforms into a wingless dragon and grows in size.
Gauron – Boss Fight – Phase 2

Compared to the first phase, Gauron’s second form is far easier yet deadly, as his attacks deal way more damage. Try staying under his body and attack his feet to deal damage without compromising your health.
If you see him raising his left leg, dodge away, as he will stomp the ground to push you away. The attack patterns remain the same. Utilize the team combos and defeat Gauron. Right after you deplete his HP, Lord Ewald will move forward to attack him again, but Gauron swipes his axe to send a shockwave at him.

As he is about to deal a fatal blow to Ewald, an electric spear falls from the spire’s hole. The fourth of the Six Heroes arrives and saves him in the nick of time, giving him enough time to recover. The hero, an elf, throws her spear onto Gauron’s head, leaving him stunned.

With this, Ewald and Kalsion ready their swords and deal the final blow to Gauron, ultimately killing him. Both of his horns fall off; one of them is in the Barrier Stone’s room. While everyone has just defeated Gauron, someone in black armor finds the horn and takes it away.
Post Gauron

After the battle, talk to Lord Ewald inside the fortress. He’s with Ryza, the fourth hero who saved him from Gauron’s fatal blow. She talks with Ewald about how she saved him only out of necessity for the last time and not forgiving the kingdom. Ewald tells her that he still remembers his promise to her to slay the Black Dragon. As soon as the party comes to him, Ryza goes away before they can meet her.
Now, Ewald will thank us for our efforts in defeating the Origin Dragon and tell us to talk to Astria. With this, the Siege quest comes to an end.
The 60 Years They Built

Talk to Astria. She is grateful to us for saving and healing everyone in the Fortress. Additionally, she tells us Saintess Ornette managed to fight against the monsters in the Royal Palace with her guards, saving everyone. After this conversation, go to the spire to meet King Kalsion.
He will thank us for our efforts, but he’s worried about everyone, as one of the Barrier Stones has collapsed. They’re all facing an existential threat from the Origin Dragons. Johnny raises his spirits, saying everyone has to unite to fight against the dragons, as they should stop worrying about the Barrier Stones. If they have defeated Gauron, they will defeat others too.

With this, it’s time to return to Orbis. Warp back to the castle square to end this quest.
Individual Preparations

At the square, talk to Johnny, and the group will decide to meet Saintess Ornette and Lady Lyn, as they haven’t seen them since the siege. First, go to the Antea Great Cathedral and talk to Ornette.
There, we learn about the possibility of a traitor within the Order. It’s impossible that the Dragon Worshippers just knew the location of the Order’s Barrier Stone. The Organa Order is already conducting a thorough investigation to find whether there’s a traitor; Theresia is leading it.

When this conversation ends, leave the cathedral and head towards the Milan Main Hall to talk to Lyn. While Castella acts condescending with her for providing little to no supplies to the fortress soldiers, Lyn then reveals something: She sent a powerful “spear” to the fortress as compensation.
That spear is Ryza, one of the Six Heroes. Since the party hasn’t met her properly, Lyn says she can’t tell them about her, as Ryza hasn’t introduced herself to them first; a code of a merchant.

Hearing this, Castella goes all quiet and silently thanks her. Now, talk to Johnny, and he will call the party to a meeting near the first Eona’s Legacy. There, talk to him, and he will ask Lute what he wants to do, as it has been a month since Lute joined the mercenaries.
While he suggests becoming a mercenary of his own free will, Johnny makes him a permanent member of his group. Learning this, Aria thanks Lute for staying with her, as she can’t handle the predicaments that Johnny and Castella cause.
