In this walkthrough, we will cover DragonSword: Awakening Chapter 8, the final chapter.
Previously, we uncovered the secret Stone Tablet thanks to Alvwyn’s quest and directions. From it, we learn about Atragon, the cannibal dragon who stole the Dragon Dust powers from other dragons. However, back in Orbis, things are changing. The castle has launched a subjugation quest for all mercenaries, and our target is the next Origin Dragon.

The King’s Resolution

After the conversation with Lady Lyn, head to Roderic’s Palace to learn more about the subjugation quest. Every significant member of the Orbis Kingdom is present in the throne room. There, talk to Lyn again. Before anything, she tells us to talk to Ornette, as she has found something important in the ancient texts.
While she hasn’t deciphered everything from the texts, we learn that Dragon Worshippers is a splinter group of an order that worshipped the Nefarious Dragon Kalagon. Like the Orbis Kingdom, these worshippers also have numerous factions in their Order. Reina will tell Johnny to cut his chatter, as he’s too loud, and asks us to wait for King Kalsion’s campaign briefing.

Return to the crowd, and Kalsion will arrive in a few moments. He gives a speech regarding the campaign, including how they’ll carry the Six Heroes’ flame and destroy the threat once and for all. Finally, he reveals that Alvwyn will be leading this mission with the information he has found. And here, “The King’s Resolution” quest ends.
Origin Dragon Countermeasure Meeting

Once King Kalsion’s speech concludes, talk to Alvwyn. Take the information from him and give it to Ornette, the mercenary, and Lady Lyn. Talk to Alvwyn again, and he will break down the plan. Everyone will be assigned to a different task. It’s a big situation after all.

The Origin Dragon we’re going to fight shares the same cannibalistic trait. However, according to the ancient records, there’s a Dragon Worshipper that’s leading the dragons to eat other dragons. We need to be cautious of him as well. Additionally, Alvwyn would need an Electric Core to hinder the Origin Dragon’s movement. After this discussion, this quest will end.
Electric Core

Leave Roderic’s Palace and head to the North Gate of Orbis to find everyone near the crystal we took from the Skyridge Uplands. Talk to Kalsion. He tells us more about the Origin Dragon, which wields a “lightning of terrible might” and is moving hastily towards the kingdom.
Now, talk to Alvwyn. According to him, these crystals are called Electric Cores, having the power to store electricity. They can use this to absorb the Origin Dragon’s electric attacks, and when the core reaches its limit, it will explode. Before it explodes, we’ll throw it at the dragon to deal devastating damage.

Alvwyn claims that the core is nearly unbreakable, but Johnny wants to show off his skills. Attack the Electric Core until Johnny runs out of energy. He can’t break it, and to demonstrate how the explosion works, Ornette will step forward as her scythe emits electric energy.
Use Ornette’s skills on the Electric Core, and it will eventually explode. Talk to Alvwyn again, and everyone will get ready to move towards the battlefield: Skyridge Uplands, which consists of multiple Electric Cores. And here, the “Electric Core” quest ends.
Preliminary Preparations

It’s time to head towards the battlefield. Teleport to Eona’s Legacy in that region, then move towards the objective marker to meet with the Royal Enforcement.
Kalsion will brief us about the Origin Dragon and how he plans to hinder its movement to defeat it. Once that’s done, get to the operation zone to find Saintess Ornette, Theresia, and the Red Fox Mercenaries. Talk to Ornette, and Roxy will tell us about our task: to find a Lesser Dragon’s egg and place it on the trap.

Since the dragon will eventually look for the egg, it will arrive at the trap’s location. After that, we capture the dragon and wait for the Origin Dragon to arrive and eat the Lesser Dragon. And with that, everyone can ambush the dragon from all sides.
Now, before Roxy can set up the trap, she asks us to find two items: White Dewblossoms and Leaf of Vigor. Head to the gathering point, collect the items, and talk to Roxy again. After the party delivers her the items, they get ready to find the dragon egg, and the quest ends.
Dragon Habitat

Get to the battle area and survey it to find a place spacious enough for a dragon. Keep following the objective’s marker to stay on the correct path. Move through the Orcs’ settlement while defeating them, and you will find dragon footsteps, followed by a loud noise.
Get closer to its source to find a Lesser Dragon guarding its nest. However, in the heat of the moment, Johnny and Kalien decide to fight against the dragon to see who’s stronger. Here, defeat the dragon, and the party will suddenly realize that it wasn’t even their task, as they needed to keep the dragon alive.

However, since there were no eggs, we are safe. Still, this serves as a lesson to Johnny and Kalien to never lose their cool. Head to the next objective’s location, and there you will find a cave. Go inside, activate the warp point, and you will find the next dragon nest.
Surprisingly, there’s an egg there, but as you approach it, numerous worms will surround you. After you defeat them, the party inspects the egg, only to find it broken; it happened during the fight. Talk to Kalien. She will mention the elephant in the room: A giant hole made by a huge worm. The party decides to go through the hole to find the worm, then focus on the dragon. With this, the “Dragon Habitat” quest ends.
Egg Chase

Go through the hole and defeat the worms on your way. At the end, Kalien mentions how the environment tells the story of a battle between dragons and worms. For more clues, ascend the path and head to the dragon’s lair. We find a stronger dragon there, and the parties decide to split their work: Johnny and his party will distract the dragon, and Kalien and Dana will take the egg away.
So, defeat the dragon, and it will chase Dana and Kalien away. Talk to your party to collect the egg, and as Johnny holds it above his head, a worm digs through the ground, steals it, and returns underground. It’s time to find that worm and get the egg.

Descend into the cave near the nest. Keep following the path to finish this quest.
Echoes From The Underground

Follow Johnny into the cave, and he will eventually stumble upon a dungeon. He believes the worm went into the dungeon, and now we need to explore it. So, ready up your team and head inside the dungeon.
As you fight the small worms, the giant worm will try to make a run for it with the egg. So, once you deal with the small worms, break the wall and follow the giant worm. Go through the thin bridge, and you’ll reach the worm’s nest. There, the giant worm, Earthlander of the Ravenous Earth, shows itself.

It’s time to fight the worm. In the first phase, the boss only throws numerous projectiles from its mouth that you can avoid by staying away from the red spots on the ground. Defeat the small worms first, then attack the boss. Once it reaches 75% health, it will try to make a run for it, but the party grabs onto its body.
Running through holes, it returns to the nest, and the real fight begins. To win, stay near the worm’s tail and attack it as much as you can. If it swirls its body, stand back until it rushes forward, and then dodge. Additionally, it goes underground after a few intervals and returns to the nest; avoid the brown circle that indicates the location.

Time your moves, and keep attacking the boss. Once defeated, go near its body to find the egg, broken. Johnny comes up with an idea: Glue the egg back together. While this sounds atrocious, he argues that the other mercenaries may not have gotten their hands on eggs either, so they could use the empty shell to lure the dragon.
Before anything, Aria suggests everyone returns to the surface, and this quest ends.
Traps and Ambushes

To return to the surface, follow the cave before you. As the party discusses gluing the egg back together, they see Kalien and Dana still luring the dragon away; they aren’t any better than us at this point. To divide the tasks further, Johnny asks Castella and Lute to go to Eona’s Legacy, and he and Aria will return to the operation zone. So, return to the operation zone. Roxy is angry as the mercenaries are taking too much time with their task.
Suddenly, an unknown individual arrives at the zone. She’s the Origin Dragon, who asks Roxy about her “meal,” as she knows they’re preparing a trap for her. However, Roxy is afraid and fails to answer. Seeing this demeanor, the Origin Dragon calls her useless and immediately rushes forward to kill her.

Before she closes in, Ornette blocks the Origin Dragon’s attack. The dragon steps back, and Ornette wonders why Lute still hasn’t activated Eona’s Legacy cannon. To protect everyone, the Saintess uses her special attack, causing a massive crater in the operation zone. A few moments later, Lute returns to the zone. Walk up to the crater, and Johnny will decide to descend into the hole with his party and save Saintess Ornette; Theresia joins them too.
Ready up your team, and we’re now going on a hunt to defeat the second Origin Dragon. At the bottom, Ornette is already struggling against Ursula, the Origin Dragon. When the party arrives, she sees Lute and says he looks familiar. With this, it’s time to battle against Ursula.
Ursula – Boss Fight

Ursula is an Origin Dragon that relies on electric attacks and can deal staggering damage. Additionally, she’s extremely nimble, and her attacks can only be avoided via dodges. Fortunately, she doesn’t have a huge moveset, so remembering her three moves is a bit easy, giving you leverage to dodge and then time your attacks.
There’s one attack you should be careful of: The Leg Smash. As soon as Ursula raises her leg, she’ll charge it up and slam it down to deal AOE damage. When the leg is about to hit, dodge to her right to avoid the attack. Additionally, if she climbs up the Electric Core, keep running either left or right, as she is about to use her laser attack.

So, stay both defensive and offensive. Once Ursula’s health drops to 30%, she’ll become tired. Johnny will try to rile her up to buy everyone some time, but it backfires. She becomes extremely angry and transforms into her real form.
Ursula – Boss Fight – Phase 2

In this phase, Ursula transforms into a beast and gains a massive speed boost. However, she’s easier to defeat in this form. Keep away from her claws, attack her legs, and bait her into attacking the Electric Cores.
Since she uses electric attacks, the cores will explode as soon as she hits them, dealing staggering damage and breaking her shield. This gives you enough time to use tag-combos and deliver multiple attacks at once. At 60% HP, she will jump and smash her body down. To avoid it, look out for the purple area on the ground, and run away.

Keep attacking her, and below a certain HP threshold, she will try to run away. Ride your Familiar and follow her outside the cave. And in the open area, the third phase of this fight begins.
Ursula – Boss Fight – Phase 3

As soon as you exit the cave, Ursula will use a laser attack on the ground. Stay away from the purple area, and let her jump off the cliff.
Most of her attacks are the same, but in this phase, she can now climb a wall and then jump off to deliver a deadly blow. Attack Ursula until her health reaches 70%, and a cutscene will begin. Our party is almost at their limit, and when they lower their guard, Ursula rushes in for a fatal blow.

Before she can attack us, Johnny throws the broken eggshells at her from afar. Now, when she tries to chase Johnny, the powerful dragon Kalien, which was distracting her, arrives and starts to fight with Ursula. However, she’s an Origin Dragon, one of the most powerful beings in existence. She manages to slam the dragon down, but it runs away.
Thanks to the dragon’s distraction, we’re now safe. As Ursula follows that dragon, it’s time to chase her. Ride your Familiar and go through the wind ring to climb the mountain. Unfortunately, Ursula has gone too far, but the Red Fox mercenaries catch up to us. They decide to join the fight.

From here, ascend the path ahead to find Ursula fighting against the dragon. She manages to consume its power, entering her final, empowered form.
Ursula – Boss Fight – Phase 4

Ursula’s body glows purple with the power she receives from the dragon’s heart. Her attack pattern remains the same, but they deal more damage than ever. So, always avoid her attacks, then move into her back area to attack her safely.
As you fight her, Kalien will join the struggle. With her help, we can finally put Ursula to rest. Kalien provides a great distraction during this battle, giving you massive attack windows to capitalize on. However, when her health reaches 50%, a cutscene will begin.

Ursula manages to overpower everyone on the battlefield, but as she is about to deal a fatal blow to Ornette, Lute blocks her attack. However, she uses her tail to lift him and pierces it through his heart. One thing she doesn’t know is that Lute is a half-dragon.

As soon as she pierces his heart, Lute grows his wings and transforms into an Origin Dragon. In this form, you’re borderline invincible, and now, attack Ursula with everything you have. You will be able to defeat her in a span of seconds.

Ursula returns to her normal form, and she tries to negotiate her way out of this. When Lute decides to strike his sword for the final blow, he feels an enormous pain in his heart. Suddenly, a massive beam lights up the sky, heading towards Lute. Just before it hits him, Johnny rushes forward and pushes Lute to safety.

They’re both safe, and the beam hits Ursula. But where did it come from? It’s Rubens, one of the Origin Dragons, using Eona’s Legacy ancient beam to destroy Ursula. And before Ursula can even complete her sentence, she disintegrates.

When the fight ends, check Lute’s condition. Everyone at the battlefield has seen Lute’s real form, and Johnny thinks they can’t keep it a secret. However, since he has saved everyone, Ornette says she will let it slide this time, and with Ursula’s defeat, everyone celebrates. However, since Ornette saw Rubens at Eona’s Legacy, she and Theresia decide to investigate it. After they leave, the “Traps and Ambushes” quest comes to an end.
The Age of Heroes

Lute regains consciousness. Now, talk to King Kalsion near one of the Electric Cores. He thanks us for our efforts and says that we will be rightfully rewarded,
Return to the Orbis Castle and head to the Johnny Mercenaries’ Base. There, the party decides to take a deserved break. Go to the Amber Trading Company Street, and the party will have one final conversation before they leave. Aria asks whether Lute knows who he truly is; he doesn’t. He believes that it would be better if he asks his grandpa, Ropie.

As they are about to leave, an Orbis Soldier arrives. He invites us to Roderic’s Palace, as King Kalsion is holding a ceremony to reward everyone present at the Origin Dragon’s Subjugation. Go to Roderic’s Palace and talk to Kalien.
After a few moments, Kalsion will deliver his speech and personally commend everyone present in the throne room and give them rewards. Surprisingly, Johnny and his party are now DragonSwords, the highest achievable mercenary rank.

And here, the quest comes to an end.
If He Becomes a Hero

Leave Roderic’s Castle and head to the square. The party has a conversation and decides to check up on everyone else in town. First, go to the guild office to find both Red Fox Mercenaries fighting to keep their name, but this goes nowhere.
After that, head inside the Milan Main Hall and meet with Lady Lyn. She will thank us for defeating the Origin Dragon and has a reward ready for us; she will give it later. Leave the hall and go to the Antea Great Cathedral. Ornette will ask about our well-being and thank us for everything.

She tells Lute that the word about his real form will get out one way or another, but for him, he’s still the savior of Orbis. After the conversation, Ornette will attend to another visitor. As she’s busy, leave the cathedral. Outside, Ewald will join us and ask the party to meet him at the Shaded Tree Hill for a private conversation.
Go to the hill to find Ewald. First of all, he thanks us for our efforts. Without dabbling in other matters, he asks Lute about his real identity. Lute doesn’t know about it himself and says he will ask his grandpa. Ewald asks who his grandfather is, and when Lute reveals his identity, Ewald is surprised.

Since nobody has properly met Ropie, he entrusts Lute to complete a quest: Finding Ropie. Additionally, with this power, Ewald believes that Lute has the might to become the strongest hero in Orbis’ history, surpassing Abel. He was a hero who passed away long ago, but he was the most benevolent, turning jealousy into admiration.
With this conversation, and on a cliffhanger, the “If He Becomes a Hero” quest ends. And our DragonSword: Awakening Chapter 8 walkthrough concludes along with the game. Make sure to check out our complete walkthrough hub of DragonSword: Awakening!
