Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Dungeons of Hinterberg. In this part of our Dungeons of Hinterberg walkthrough, we explore the dungeon Desolate Dungeon in Brunnelsumpf.

Day 17: Morning

Talk to Alex and head to Brunnelsumpf. We are going to Desolate Castle

Day 17: Noon

You have to rent a kayak to get to Desolate Castle. So, do so and swim towards the south and you will come across the island hosting the dungeon.

Dungeon: Desolate Castle

After entering the dungeon, follow the path to the right, creating jelly blocks to jump over the gaps. Pick up the MP potion, climb the hill, and blow the Alphorn. Now get down and loop around and you will be back where you started. Use the Plasma Ball to activate the bridge here and cross over.

Go up the stairs to the right and blow the Alphorn to lower the bridge. Now go straight from the stairs to find a raft, activate the switch on the front to get to the small island and then fire a Plasma Ball into the pipe to activate the bridge. Once on the other side you will find 10000 HBs in the chest. Get to the bridge now and clear the monsters. Now aim a Plasma ball right in the middle of the two conduits. This should open the gate. Go through.

Once inside blow the Alphorn on the right to raise a set of stairs and drop some pillars that you can use for traversal. Climb over the pillar on the left using Jelly Block and pick up a charm from a chest around the corner.

On your right is a structure with a Red Lobster banner, so up the stairs and loot the chest. Now get on the hanging raft on the right and cut the rope with your sword. It should drop down below. Activate it with Plasma Ball to get to the other side. Cross over and bring the next raft close to the shore and cross over.

Shoot a Plasma Ball in the mouth of the pipe and that should open the door. Go through and turn to the left. Now the next puzzle is a bit tricky, the door on the far left can only be opened for a short time before the switch goes off. So go to the left and create a Jelly Block to bounce a Plasma Ball off in front of the pipe mouth.

Now shoot a Plasma Ball to the conduit and open the door and get inside. Look up and shoot into the mouth of the long pipe system here. The plasma ball should travel up and back to where the Jelly Block is and bounce back to hit the switch, opening the door.

Go through the door. Kill the monsters here and head into the tower marked by a Blue Beaver banner. Loot the chest and head up the stairs. Use Jelly Block to get on the giant bed and then another Jelly Block to get on the raft. Cut it down and head to the other side. Now you will see a tower with a Green Kingfisher banner, head past the main entrance and into the archway on the left – past the plants. At the back of the tower you will see a chest on a giant park bench – use Jelly Block to get to it. It has leggings inside. Head up the stairs and then down to blow on the Alphorn – this should raise the last set of stairs. Yes, we are doing this out of order but shouldn’t matter.

Head through the bridge that just got lowered. Make your way back to the central stairs and go straight to the fallen pillars. Use Jelly Block to get on the pillar and then to the top.

Keep going till you see a tower with a Golden Dragon banner and go through – there is some loot inside the room on the opposite side here. You will be ambushed once you get out of the tower – kill the enemies and loot the chest at the back for a charm. Next, create a Jelly Block and cross over.

Once inside, hit the right conduit to open the door on the right and head through. Create a Jelly Block in the small puddle and climb the wall. Hit the switch and it will rotate the left conduit below to come closer to the right conduit – so eventually both will be close enough for a Plasma Ball in the middle. Now hit the left conduit and go through the left door when it opens. Climb the ladder and hit the switch and climb down to the main courtyard. Create a Jelly Block in the puddle in between the two conduits.

Shoot a Plasma Ball down the middle and jump over to the Jelly Block and across to exit this area. Alternatively a better plan is to cross first, stand near the gate and shoot the conduits, then turn around and exit the area.

In the next area, there will be a tower with a Blue Swordfish banner – first go to the right and around to the back for a Charm. Now go back, kill the monsters and head through the archway of the tower. At the top, create a Jelly Block and get up the stairs to find the Coin for this dungeon.

Go back and follow the path to the Alphorn and raise the last set of stairs. This will also drop the bridge – so cross over and back to the main area. Go up the stairs and stamp your book and exit the dungeon.

End the day by going to bed.
