Elven Ruins

As the game begins, your character will arrive in the ancient elven ruins. Your party members have already moved ahead. You’ll be able to hear them communicate, but they decide to move further in without you.

In the ruins, you have to keep going straight ahead. There’s only one path here, and you have to keep following it. You’ll also encounter some enemies on the way, but they shouldn’t pose much of a threat.

The layout of the ruins can be tricky if you’re following the minimap, so just keep moving ahead on the path, and you’ll eventually reach your destination. When you’re getting close, the party’s communication will sound like they’ve been attacked.

When you finally reach the location, you’ll find a gate here. Open the gate, and you’ll find your teammates as they pass away. One of the party members will mention someone called Stella.

Iori

As you walk into the chamber, you’ll be attacked by a huge number of enemies. They’ll keep coming at you. Since you can’t heal yet, you’ll have to last as long as possible.

After a while, Iori will appear to help you out. After a short cutscene, Iori will teach you to heal using healing crystals and ask if you want to travel solo or with him. I picked the option to go with Iori.

From here, the next half of the prologue will begin. Iori can deal with most of the enemies, and he also acts as a useful distraction against them.

On the path, you’ll learn how to use Partner Skills and different sword skills. You may also encounter some slightly tougher enemies, such as the armored kobolds, but they’re quite easy to deal with now that you have Iori to help you out.

Sentry Golem

As you keep going, you’ll reach the resting point. The first boss is shortly ahead. You can rest at the point to restore your HP and the healing crystal charges.

When you enter the arena ahead, you’ll have to fight the Sentry Golem. The strategy here is to divide the boss’s attention between you and your partner, and deal damage to it while it’s recovering from attacks.

You can use a partner skill when the golem jumps to attack your character, but you have to be precise with your timing. Additionally, in one of the attacks, the golem will stomp the ground with one of its legs. You can use a Sword Skill or a heavy attack on its foot to deal more damage to it.

Once the golem has been defeated, a pink-haired girl will show up. She’ll ask you to help out with her party ahead. It sounds suspicious, but you’ll have to follow through.

Deeper In The Ruins

After defeating the Sentry Golem, you’ll have to keep moving ahead. Iori will ask you to heal yourself using the healing crystals, but there’s a resting point shortly ahead.

Rest at the point, and the path ahead will open up. There will be a door ahead—open it, and a cutscene will begin.

Here, you’ll find Stella and the pink-haired girl. It seems they were trying to lure you into a trap. They’ll summon a giant monster and leave the area. You’ll then have to fight this boss.

Illfang The Kobold Lord

Illfang has a shield, so you’ll have to use Crush Attacks first. Hold the heavy attack button to unleash a Crush Attack. This will deal considerable damage to the shield.

Once the boss suffers a guard break, you’ll be able to deal heavy damage. Once its HP reaches a certain amount, the boss will summon some other kobolds in the arena. You should be able to get rid of them quickly.

After you’ve depleted its HP, use a heavy attack to sever one of its parts. This will begin the second phase, and the boss will switch to a longsword. The strategy remains the same for this battle.

Use a heavy attack on the boss after depleting its HP, and it will begin the third phase. The boss will be crawling on the ground, but the real threat here is the summoned kobolds.

Get rid of the kobolds, and the boss won’t pose much of a threat in this phase. Once the HP reaches zero, use a heavy attack, and your character will defeat the boss in a cutscene.

Path To The Town Of Beginnings

You’ll then receive the Sacred Tree’s Memory as a reward for defeating the Kobold Lord. Keep going ahead in the Elven Ruins, and you’ll eventually come out of the exit.

There’s a resting point ahead. Approach it to trigger the cutscene. After the cutscene, your character will teleport to the Town of Beginnings with Iori.

After arriving in the town, you’ll have to follow Iori to the nearby inn. Here, you’ll access your chest. Your old party members will show up at the inn, and after the cutscene, Iori will show you around the town.

Follow Iori to the Smithy and then the Item Seller. Iori will then take you to the Main Terminal, which serves as an access point for quests. Iori will ask you to accept his quest from the terminal.

Iori’s Request

From the Terminal, you can accept the main quest called Iori’s Request. After that, you’ll be teleported to the town’s entrance. From here, you’ll have to keep going ahead.

You’ll eventually see a pillar of blue light in the distance. Approach it, and you’ll find a resting point here. Resting at these points will unlock the map for the area.

There are many boars in the way, so you’ll have to fight them. This will give you some experience to level up.

After resting, be on your way and follow the quest marker. Try to stay on the path because it is easier that way.

When you reach the destination, you’ll find a golden barrier here. Interact with the barrier, and it will initiate the boss battle.

Snowcap Boar

The Snowcap Boar inflicts the Frozen status ailment, which drastically slows down stamina regeneration. Whenever its tusks start to glow, you should get ready to dodge.

There’s a very strict timing for it, but if the boss is charging towards you, you can use a reversal attack to deal some more damage. However, it’s much easier to just dodge and let Iori aggro the boss while you deal damage to its back.

After phase 1, the boss will lose its tusks and won’t be using any frozen status attacks. It can still be challenging to face at close range, though.

Once you’ve defeated the boss, keep going straight ahead to look for the next safe point. Activating the safe point ahead will complete Iori’s Request quest.

Argo

After completing the quest, you and Iori will return to the town. Here, you’ll find Argo. Argo is willing to help you find a mysterious monster in the forest area, but she wants to come along with you.

You’ll have to head to the main terminal after talking to Argo to initiate the Within the Shadows quest.

Within The Shadows

When you enter the quest area, you should first head towards the safe point. Look for the pillar of blue light on the horizon, and once you find it, you’ll have to interact with it to unlock the area’s map.

After that, follow the quest marker. When you get there, a cutscene will begin where Iori will have his Col stolen from him by a nimble but strange monster.

The quest marker will shift ahead, and you’ll have to follow it. When you reach the location, you’ll find something that looks like a dust cloud.

Interact with it, and the monster that stole from Iori will appear. This will also initiate the battle against the enemy, so be prepared before interacting with the dust cloud.

However, just when you’re about to defeat the enemy for good, it will dig into the ground and run away.

You’ll then have to go deeper into the quest area. Unlock the next part of the map by interacting with the second safe point. After that, go for the quest marker. You’ll have to fight against this monster called Shrewman again, and it will run away before being defeated.

Locating the enemy for the third time can be challenging without a map, but if you’ve unlocked the safe point, you’ll be able to get there easily.

Following the trail will lead you to the ruins. You’ll find the enemy for the third time here. Before you can fully defeat it, the enemy will once again run away.

Go deeper into the area. Here, you’ll have to interact with a third safe point. This will unlock the final piece of the map for the quest area, while also restoring your HP for the battle ahead.

Now, follow the quest marker, and you’ll arrive at a large open space inside the ruins. The enemy called Shrewman has been defeated by a gigantic grizzly, and you’ll have to defeat this monster to recover Iori’s belongings.

Geinspore Grizzly

The Geinspore Grizzly is quite big and hits hard, but it’s also quite slow. The biggest challenge with this boss is that it uses fire attacks that can inflict Burn on you, which will cause your HP to decrease over time.

Try to stay behind the boss while Argo and Iori distract it, and keep attacking it from behind. You’ll be able to overcome it with ease.

After you’ve defeated the boss, you’ll be able to recover Iori’s Col, and the quest will be complete. You and the rest of the party will teleport back to the town shortly.

Once you return to the town, Argo will offer to become friends with you and will be willing to offer you your next assignment, after you’ve made the preparations.
