Echoes of Aincrad takes you to the world of Sword Art Online, where you’ll have to master the sword and find a way to conquer Aincrad. On your journey, you’ll come across many challenges that let you live the game side by side with the main characters of the Sword Art Online series.

Cal
When you return to Argo, she’ll share the details of the next quest. A cutscene will trigger, and Cal will show up to join your party. Among the beta testers, Cal is considered exceptionally strong.
For this quest, you’ll have to find and clear a dungeon called the Teardrop Cave. The cave is located to the west of the quest area.
With Cal, you won’t have to worry about strong enemies much. It’s also a good idea to level up with Cal’s help by taking on Elite enemies if you feel like you’re underleveled.
From the Town of Beginnings, you’ll have to make your way to the Megalith Forest: North resting point. From there, head north and keep going west. This will let you reach the second resting point. Head north from the second resting point and keep following the path on the ground to reach the third resting point.
Dire Strife Wolf
After reaching the third resting point, you’ll find the boss arena of the Dire Strife Wolf shortly ahead.
As a dire wolf enemy, this boss is quite nimble, and you’ll have to be quick to avoid its attacks. Focus on dodging if you’re using a longsword. If you’re using a shortsword and a shield, you can use it to parry its attacks, but the timing is strict.
The boss also inflicts Paralyze with its lightning attacks. If you’re inflicted by Paralyze and get knocked down, you won’t be able to get back up immediately, so be careful about it.
Once you’ve defeated the enemy, follow the path through the arena, and you’ll eventually find yourself in the Teardrop Cave. Interact with the first resting point here to complete Part 1 of the Violet Fencer quest.
Teardrop Cave
After interacting with the first resting point, you’ll return to the Town of Beginnings to make preparations to raid the dungeon. Once you’re ready, interact with the main terminal in the town to begin Part 2 of the Violet Fencer quest.
As soon as you arrive in the dungeon, you’ll find Cal here, who’ll join you. Dungeons are randomized, and you have to pass through different sections to reach the deepest part of the dungeon.
You’ll find a wall of leaves where different sections are connected. Use an attack on the wall to cut down the leaves and open the path to the next section.
Keep going through the cave. Once you reach the Central Chamber of the cave, you’ll find a Glenspore Grizzly here. There’s another Grizzle Elite Enemy in the boss arena.
Once you’ve defeated the enemies, you’ll have to go further in the cave. Go to the Lower Chamber next. Just like the previous chambers, you’ll have to go through multiple sections to reach the resting point here. Once you do that, the path leading to the Bottom Chamber will open.
In the Bottom Chamber, you’ll have to fight against a Wrathful Shrewman boss. It will be surrounded by weaker Shrewman enemies. This boss can inflict blindness through smoke bombs, so try to avoid them.
After defeating the Wrathful Shrewman, you’ll have to go a little further in the cave to reach the final resting point. Once you do that, the Violet Fencer quest will be complete.
End Of The Closed Beta
When you return to the Town of Beginnings after completing the quest, Cal will become friends with you. There will be a cutscene showing a successful end of the Closed Beta Test.
You’ll then be able to create your custom character. Once you’re satisfied with the looks, you can finish the Character Creation. However, note that you won’t be able to change your appearance later on.
After that, your character will log back into the game, but this time on the game’s full launch. However, you’ll enter Aincrad with the same character as the one in the Beta Test initially.
As you log back in, you’ll find some summoners who will tell you that you have to climb to the top of the tower, and only after that, you’ll be able to return to your world. From here, you have to find your way to the Town of Beginnings.
Twisted Beginning
On your way to the town, you’ll encounter Iori. He’ll join you. It’s a long way to the town, but the enemies should be quite weak on the way.
Once you’re back in town, there will be a lot of players here. Make your way to the Terminal Area, and you’ll find Saayu and Wyzeman here.
However, suddenly, the Game Master will appear. He’ll tell the players that no one can log out of the game unless they defeat the final boss on Level 100 of the tower. He’ll also tell you about a hand mirror that has appeared in the inventory of every player.
As the cutscene goes on, your Beta Test avatar will turn into the avatar that you created a while ago. Furthermore, the Game Master will reveal that death inside the game will result in the players dying in the real world as well. You’ll also be able to spot Kirito and Asuna from the Anime series.
Horunka
As the cutscene goes on, a month has passed. It turns out that Iori was actually a girl playing with a male avatar. Now, Wyzeman suggests that you should head to Horunka to see if things have changed since the Beta Test.
From here, you’ll have to revisit a few places and dungeons, similar to the Beta Test. Not much has changed, but the enemies are stronger.
For the first quest, you’ll have to head to Horunka. Accept the quest, and you’ll have to head to the marked location. Every resting point that you activated in the beta has stopped functioning, and you’ll have to activate each of them again to use them for fast travel.
Once you reach the marked location, you’ll find a Raging Boar here. This boss has three phases. Use a heavy attack on its nose after depleting its HP every time to transition to the next phase.
After defeating the boar, keep going straight on the path, and you’ll arrive in Horunka. Activate the resting point there to complete the quest.
Ancestral Sword
As Beta Testers, you and your friends have more knowledge about Aincard than the new players. Wyzeman and Iori suggest taking on the old lady’s quest in Horunka, which rewards you with an annealed sword.
Head to the quest marker in Horunka after the cutscene. You’ll find a lady here. Talk to the lady, and she’ll ask you to obtain the Little Nepenthes Ovule from the rare Flowering Nepenthes, which is a carnivorous plant.
After making your preparations, accept the quest from the Main Terminal inside Horunka. From there, you have to make your way towards the west of the village. Exit the village from the east gate, go south, and take the turn there to reach the west side of the area. After that, make your way to the West Forest.
You’ll encounter many Nepenthes on the way. However, the one you need to defeat is a boss that you can only find at the marked location.
Once you reach the location, you’ll find the Flowering Nepenthes here. It is a gigantic carnivorous plant, and it will also summon the regular Nepenthes enemies during battle.
After you’ve defeated the boss, you’ll return to Horunka shortly and automatically deliver the ovule to the lady who requested it.
A cutscene will then trigger, where your player character and their friends will find a player named Diavel, who is confident about conquering the 100 floors of Aincrad.
He’ll ask you to reach for Tolbana, which is near the entrance to the tower, to conduct a strategy meeting. However, the party wants to enhance the recently acquired Annealed Blade to increase their combat prowess.
Tempered Steel
To enhance the Annealed Blade, you’ll have to take on the next quest from the Terminal. This quest requires you to go to the Teardrop Cave again and clear the dungeon.
Since the resting points have reset after the Beta, you’ll have to find the Teardrop Cave again from the Town of Beginnings teleport point.
You’ll also have to fight against the Dire Strife Wolf boss again before the cave’s entrance. After defeating it, interact with the resting point inside the cave. You’ll be able to return to the town after that.
For the next quest, you’ll have to make your way to the bottom of the Tear Drop Cave. Once you reach the depths, you’ll have to fight against the Shrewman Queen boss.
After defeating it, go deeper into the cave. You’ll find Wyzeman already waiting for you here in front of a chunk of Tempered Steel. Pick it up to complete the quest. You’ll then return to town shortly.
Once you’ve cleared the dungeon, your player character and Iori will receive an Antique Brooch. After you’ve returned to the town, you’ll have to walk to the Smithy in the Town of Beginnings.
Use the Tempered Steel to enhance the Annealed Blade shortsword at the Smithy. You cannot enhance any other weapons using the item here. This will upgrade the Annealed Blade to +8. After that, the party will decide to leave for Tolbana.
